  • I need to buy a set of elbow guards and knee guards for myself at the earliest.

The elbow armor in my crapster raptor jacket moves around a lot and is very loose at the sleeve even with the button at the tightest fit. I am not feeling safe at all with this jacket. Moreover the jacket is supposed to offer protection against extreme rain, wind and snow but a ride in pouring rain yesterday on the way back from Mekedatu proved otherwise. My tee was soaked and till yesterday i blamed cramster only for faulty stitching and pathetic quality armor. Now even the last bit of protection against the said elements has proved otherwise. So much for 5200 bucks.

Please suggest me a good set of elbow and knee guards. I dont want to buy the locally available AXO guards as I doubt their quality and originality. I wouldnt mind investing in Alpinestars if I can get a good deal online (closeouts).

Could anyone suggest which brand and model is best in terms of protection? A* has so many models and i am confused. I prefer bionic ones. I understand these come in different sizes too, so how do i choose my size?

Any other brands other than A* that are equally good and a tad cheaper?

thanks for the replies in advance.

Try extremesupply.com/ sportbiketrackgear.com. They offer good deals and ship to India as well.

          Hope it helps.

Bro, have you used these portals and services before?

I'm asking because I tried to pick up a pair of boots from Sportbiketrackgear and the shipping cost quoted was almost as much as the boots! If I added the estimated cost of duties, I might end up paying more.

If you have done this before, kindly let me know also what and how you went about it as I need some stuff desperately too. Thanks.

@ aditya - 'Crapster raptor' - ROTFL!!! But seriously dude, the knee guards don't seem that bad to me. I'm sure the Astars would be better but they cost like about 5 times more.

            • Help

Thanks for all you guyz help.
I finally went and bought myself an ALPINEASTARS VERONA jacket.
Just used it for a small ride back home and the ventilation is very good.
It is the lightest jacket that i could find and still offer good protection so its great even on the bike and not a pain to carry it around after the ride.
So thank you all and thank you XBHP.

              Another query.
I need to buy myself a set of knee guards.
I saw a pair of FOX knee guards for INR 750 at probiker but i doubt the authenticity.
Also they came in a set with elbow guards.
I only wanted knee guards but the owner refused to split the contents.
So i need you to suggest me a good pair of knee guards that are available in PUNE.
Also they should be very small and if possible flat so its easy to carry around afet the ride.
Please guyz help me in this regard.

Had a Crash Yesterday. Was geared with DSG Nero, Cramster MX-3 and Vega boolean. So nothing happened despite a deltoid muscle injury. My Nero has tore on the right shoulder where DSG logo is there. That is an extra piece.. right? Was brand new and 2 weeks old. What to do to repair it. I am from South Kerala .. Need Help..
If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

sorry to hear of your crash, and glad you are ok. If the jacket is not torn, it should be good to continue using. Check with kochumvk in Cochin G2G thread. He had repaired his jacket with the same material used in these jackets.

I dont want to take a chance with quality again bro. I'd rather spend a very small fortune than bust my knee and limp for the rest of my life.

Of course these are not the original Fox Racing products. They are cheap replica's which will not protect you in a crash.

Try the DSG store in Pune for knee guards.

                        • Duped Fox Raptors!

I wish I had read this thread earlier. I just bought a pair of Fox Raptor knee pads for Rs. 800 and now I read that they aren't genuine. I "tested" them by falling on them at the store .. and they gave little cushion like falling on a pillow on your knees. Currently my riding is restricted to only within the city (Bombay). Now I'm confused as to what to do... Is it worth wearing them?

You can wear them in the city where the speeds are pretty much restricted.

For highways where you would ride faster, get a pair from a reputed brand and from a trustworthy store.

On most discount stores and closout deals, Fox Racing Knee Guards start from around US $ 30 (around 1.4k) for a set. No way you can get these in india for half the price.

Malliah had posted this link on page 322 (IIRC) and he has posted some tips as well.

You can also google for motorcycle closeouts and refer to more links in previous posts.
