I need to get a riding jacket, I had contacted one of the online dealers in India and was offered an Alpinstars jacket for 5.5k, the jacket had no model name, so I forwarded the picture to A* to find out if it was a discontinued model or a fake, they had sent the following reply.
Dear Stefan,
Thank you for your email. We confirm that the Alpinestars jacket in question in indeed a fake jacket.
Would you be so kind to forward us the details of the dealer who is selling this jacket?
Thank you again for contacting us and highlighting this matter to us.
Best regards,
Deborah

After some googling, there seems to be a huge amount of a* fakes being manufactured in China, by one company and our local importers enjoy bargain hunting, please beware of other fake products in the market!
So now back to me buying a jacket, there's not much option here as I need a mesh jacket, RJ's and Crampster, crampster has dubious quality according to this thread and rj's is a little pricey. I wanted to order from US, but don't know if anyone is coming here to carry and have emailed ICCworld twice with no reply and with 20north I have heard both good and bad, any other options?Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

lol!!!
You options in the range of 5-6K would be Scoyco from Raw Adventures, RJay's or even Planet DSG. Most others like JR's & A* are in expensive bracket. Cramster, I'd say, stay away unless you plan to get one for temporary use for now.
Hope you've seen these posts - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/460440-post3062.html & http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/461380-post.html. Anyway, you know the links for RJ's, JR & Planet DSGLast edited by aargee; 03-04-2011, 11:20 AM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Since this is a one time investment, go with DSG or RJays or Joe Rocket. You wont be disappointed.Originally posted by stefanm View PostI need to get a riding jacket... Stefan - owning a JR myself, I'm very much happy with my decision. If at all I regret, I only wish I could've bought RJ for the same quality & lesser price.

Though most of us from KL has Crapster, they declined to sponsor us for the Road Safety Awareness Campaign we held last week. Guess what their justification was? That they were always disinterested in xbhp and its activities!
I'm ditching all my crap gear at the fist opportunity!
