    Pulsar UG-III gen bikes have ~117 jet size! See, u can try playing with fuel-air proportions first. Check, when bike's acceleration is best and at the same time, rip it hard for about 20-25 minutes, so that u'll have enough time to analyze the stuff for urself. And yeah give the process some time. Mine took 4-5 days to cope with the changes.
    In, the end..u can judge for urself, whether the bike requires a new Jet or not. See, installing new jets may bring some changes radically. However, at the same time, there may be some problems too. Just to let u know, my Classic doesn't have bigger Jets. Its just that, they are originals and mechanically altered. (I am sure, u must've heard about the "Pinning Process"! ) Even after that, the size difference is almost negligible. Its just, that engine now have proper fuel-air proportion.

    Well, yes. Doing that'll be a good idea. Another thing, make sure...u stick to once petrol brand and quality.
    For example, i've been running my Classic on Speed for past 7 yrs. Trust me, this matters alot.

    At those speeds the bike needs sufficient and consistent supply of fuel-air combo. As u've already mentioned that, it used to do those speeds with ease. Then u can simply correlate it to the installtion of K&N filter. See, there is no doubt that, K&Ns suck massive amount of air. However, to compensate that, there must be proper amount of fuel provided. Imagine, u are blowing huge amount of air on a mixture where the fuel ratio is very less. At high speeds the same operation happens at great speed...say in a fraction of second! K&N is doing its job perfectly. However, there isn't sufficient fuel to ignite the mixture. And thus, engine halts or shuts off apparently.
    I think, u know, what u've to do.

    Sounds good, as carb dont have dirt accumulated within them. Give ur K&N filter a dry wash. That'll remove the dust accumulated on its surface. Last but, not the least..i must say..my Classic has Automech exhaust. And trust, they do the job perfectly, as they are meant to.
    See, if u can go for Tectracs / Automech exhausts. For demo, u can check out Prashanth_Benz tectracs installed on his ditsy or mine on youtube. Exhausts are better options than typical silencers. And yeah, they do increase ur bike performance. Not that marginally, but coupled with K&N, NGKs and bigger Jets, yes..they do!

    so just rubbing of the carbon and upjetting has givin you such insane amount of power!!!
    Theres nothing that gr8 in it. I just replaced them with the ones which were in better shapes than mine! Ofcourse, no size alterations. No upjetting, as i already mentioned. Now, coming to this "insane" amount of power...!
    See, i've maintained my Classic as best as i can. Nothing so particular in it. I sticked with Speed for all these years, used Castrol GTX 20W50 from the beginning along with Bajaj's recommended engine/fuel additives. (Go for them, they cost around 180 and are good!) Regular servicing of K&N, replacing parts at appropriate intervals..thats what i've done. However, this was the first major work that my bike has gone through. Coz, the work involved, new Ditsy-like Paintjob, Halogen Bulb fitment, New Rims, sprockets, Black Coating on full engine surface, Chain-set, Timing chain, Washer, Rear Nitrox shocks, Swing Arm Assembly (of DTS-i actually! Due to which, i had to remove Saree Guard! )Rings, Pressure Plates, Shocker Springs, Sealings and yes..a new Carburettor!
    Though, it took me 4-5 days to set the fuel-air proportion like the one in the old carb. Man, i was beginning to get upset during those 4 days. However, i kept patience and everything was apapted perfectly by engine. I must say, Classic is full of surprises and still potent after all these years. Ask any Classic owner, who has maintained his, and he'll tell u the same!
    So, i think..its quite obvious that after all these things the original Classic has to be resurrected.
    And about, the word.."Insane" i think its more of a metaphor to associate with the Classic 180 performance!! hehe...
    For set of pics of my Classic, u can visit my Orkut profile. Or if u want, i can upload all pics here, which'll take some time.

                @goldheart

                what is the exact process of head shaving ? i guess i will have to take a trip down to delhi to get everything done ..

                i upjeted to 125 zma jets recently and my bike seems to have lost all the power

                checked the A/F mix got it serviced and all that

                i think its suffering from burnt valves

                  @themadrussian,
                  Rule of Thumb: Shaving the pistons lowers the compression while Shaving the head increases the compression. An increase will inturn produce better(more) power.
                  Shaving your cylinder head,(by removing a carefully measured amount of material from the cylinder heads) effectively reduces the combustion chamber volume, and this inturn increases your compression ratio. There are general rules for gains from compression ratio increases, but simply put its difficult to make an accurate call because you are changing the combustion chamber diminsions/configuration and this changes how effective your mixture combusts, and how the flame front propogates, better components required for handling such higher ratios etc, etc. Very involved. . .
                  With higher compression ratios, larger compression height pistons or thinner head gaskets can be used. Plus, the fuel quality also becomes important then. Higher Octane fuels are recommended else Knocking would happen with that ratio.
                  See, Head shaving demands skilled work. IMO, just go for Polishing instead. Head Shaving goes with higher capacity engines, where lots of options are at disposal.

                  Does exhaust emits white smoke at high rpm levels ? Does engine heats excessively if continuously revved at high levels? If yes..yeah valves need replacement and bike's carb have to tuned again and appropriately. Trust me, the later one requires patience and time. Mine took almost a week to adapt A/F settings.

                    ^ thanks for the info !

                    i havnt noticed overheating as of now cause i ride my bike only on weekends now-a-days . and i havnt tried looking back at my exhaust when im ripping the bike to see if it is emmiting smoke but i will surely check that

                    so can polishing be done by a trusted mechanic if given proper directions ?

                      yep, that could be done, if provided with proper guidelines.
                      As for smoke, ask someone else to do it or you can try revving the engine on stand!

                              P200 modification query.

                              Hey guys this is my first post on x-bhp and i see a lot of experienced riders on this site. Anyway, I've been looking for a good bike to buy and have zeroed down to a used Pulsar 200. Now, i would like to know the estimate cost of installing a rear disk assembly and ABS at both, the front and rear. Further, I'm planning to install a K&N RC 1100 performance filter and get the required jetting and carburetor settings done. Are there any more performance modifications i can get done without having cop trouble? (That would rule out exhaust mods.) Also is it more advisable to get the entire K&N air intake assembly for better gains? I don't want to open the engine so head shaving/porting/polishing is out of the question. No cosmetic changes, thanks.

                              P.s. I know about the pros and cons of aftermarket air filters and have had a great experience with a K&N on my cbz classic.

                                ^^ Fitting a rear disc will cost you 10K.
                                ABS on both discs can be another 1K

                                I don't really know how much difference you will get with a filter+jetting.
                                I have heard that a free-flow will be required in combination with the above two to achieve measurable gains.

                                Oh, and could you also let us know how much you are getting the bike for? I want to know how far my bike has been devalued already.
