Nope..BSNL haven't changed any plans..its only 256kbps UL at 750/-p.m .but there is 20% discount in broadband alone(all home plans) for govt. employees as well as for retired govt. servants. so it costs 600 bucks p.m.

I have a D-Link DSL-2640T wireless ADSL2+ router.
It has four RJ45 LAN ports and one wireless port.
Now the thing I want to do is, I want to share files via My network places and mapping of network drives between my WI-FI enabled laptop and my desktop.
Currently my desktop is plugged into port#1 of the four RJ45 ports. If I connect my laptop using the RJ45 port#2, I can easily access files from My network places and am even able to map network drives and use them properly.
The problem starts when I connect the laptop via wireless. I cannot see anything in My network places.
Any networking people please help....

As a quick-fix, do this:Originally posted by pavanchirmade View PostI have a D-Link DSL-2640T wireless ADSL2+ router.

1) Make sure both your desktop and laptop have a static IP, just check in your network connection properties and if its dynamic then assign some value to it. Let us assume you set an IP of 192.168.1.100 to one comp.
2) On the other comp, go to Start > Run > type \\ 192.168.1.100 > press Enter
Now the shared folders will (should?) become visible on the screen. If this does not work then you will have to configure Windows Firewall and allow "File and Printer Sharing" to have access on both the systems.
Hope that helps. The proper way for this is something I still have to find out, but this alternative works fine for me.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

if u put same IP on both comps then there is a simple conflict.the IP acts as the address and if both address are exact same then the connection just fails.Originally posted by tanay View PostAs a quick-fix, do this:

a simple 192.168.0.1 and on other 192.168.0.2 will do the trick.
also the workgroups should be the same.
anvancythere are no stupid questions.

I have set them to 192.168.1.1 for the router 192.168.1.2 for desktop and 192.168.1.3 for my laptop. all static ips. still same issue. I can see the icon for my laptop in desktop's network places but when I click on it to access it, it shows an error:Access denied: Connection hasn't been restored yet.Originally posted by anvancy View Postif u put same IP on both comps then there is a simple conflict.the IP acts as the address and if both address are exact same then the connection just fails.

just a doubt, have u set both the WiFi and Lan IPs on your laptop the same? if so, then set them as different.. they may clash out..Originally posted by pavanchirmade View PostI have set them to 192.168.1.1 for the router 192.168.1.2 for desktop and 192.168.1.3 for my laptop. all static ips. still same issue.
