So Avin, you mean to say that the airflow will be the same amount? I dont understand how dude. I'm covering the filter box completely. The only air coming is from under the seat. That means mush lesser air than before right?

See dude.. when you put it in the box and without the stock filter. the air pulled in remains pretty much the same because there is still flow from the open end at the seat bottom.Originally posted by Coplay@180 View PostSee see, thats what I'm talking about.... covering it up to get a different grunt.

Now a vacuum cant exist . so as the air is pulled in it just gets replaced from everywhere around. but what happens with the stock filter is that it is properly and tightly kept in the box with well oiled foam to keep the dust from getting in. Now the engineers already know the air amount pulled into the engine ( of course they designed it..!
) and the vaccum created by the engine on the down stroke gets filled at a particular rate. with the K&N what happens it is less restrictive than the stock filter. so more air goes in during the down stroke.

dude i have been through all the mix and matches in this.Originally posted by Coplay@180 View PostHmmm... makes sense to me.....
so what do u advice??? should i go for it?? ( covering the box)
without box.
with hole in the box ( sounded nice cause the sounds reverberates nicely within the box.)
and with the box.
and to be honest without K&N is the best.
i have had soo many issues with it because i had not up-jetted it.- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

Its only the sound.... I badly wanna go back to stock, but the attention i get because of the sound is stopping me from it

you dont need to upjet if you get a bigger filter . we can adjust the air volume screw and that will do the trick ..
there will be no increse or decrease in pickup or top end .. just SOUND
i am so addictive to it .. when i buy a new bike i will change the filter after the run in

BIGGER FILTER???
Wat does that mean Sam??
I use the RC1060 for my Pee180UG3... u mean bigger than that? like the R1100(hope this is rite model) used on Pee200's.
Do u mind explaining how this bigger filter theory works? I'm curiousNever Argue with an Idiot !!!

Dude do you really think you can balance the A/F ratio by just rotating the VC screw? it just cannot richen the damn lean mixture formed when free flow intake is used. You have to go for bigger jets. it is compulsory.Originally posted by sam92 View Posta small piece of info

Couple it with a free flow exhaust and you will love the change.

check out the RTR thread .. people have done it including me
my spark plug was becoming white after the installation of HP filter //
i did some tweaks and turns and its again roasted brown
trust me .. if you want PERFORMANCE then you have to go for bigger jets and a free flowLast edited by sam92; 07-30-2009, 12:52 AM.FACEBOOK

Well apart from that what sam is saying correct. If only serious mods then go for K&N or any other filter. Besides PiperCross Foam filter is best coz it generally don't need upjetting...If u use PiperCross Stock ReplacementOriginally posted by Coplay@180 View PostBIGGER FILTER???

I've seen carb RTRs fitted with the RC1060 Filter from K&N. And all of them were fixed directly onto the carb. with all the tubing removed.
Nov on a Fuel Injected bike, Where can this be fitted? I Dont want to install it directly onto the engine, due to the air around the engine being warm/hot do to heat produced by the engine.
I was thinking that If there was some place under the side panels, (I'm also guessing the stock air filter goes there, I've never seen the innards of a stock RTR
) Then the K&N FIlters can be placed there and connected with some tubing.
Also, There needs to be some kind of air flow meter for the ECU. Now where will this be found??
Its A FI K&N will not support it it will give multiple lags.......

how we can know wic size n make of k&n will fit perfect to our bike....Originally posted by surajram View PostI was under the impression that the ECU monitors the volume of Air flowing into the engine, and would adjust the Air-Fuel ratio accordingly.
Since there isnt much power to be gained from a K&N, my friend decided to stay with the stock filter.

K&N for pulsar 220 dtsi
I have a P220 dtsi which has done 8k km.
Now I want to go for K&N air filter, regarding which I have following queries:
1. Which model of K&N is best suited for my bike?
2. How to make sure that that I am not being sold a local filter wrapped as K&N.
3. What is jetting? and how to get it done?
4. A reliable workshop in delhi where I can get the job done well.
Many thanks in advancesigpicOnly a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
