Well! A tappet is something which facilitates the movement of the valves when the camshaft rotates. Without the tappet the valve would get damaged due to the direct force exerted by the camshaft. The theory part is quite long but you dont need to know it
Just tell any decent mechanic to "check the tappets as you suspect its making noise" and he will do the needful.!

P.S- some of the mechanics pronounce it as "tappit", so say that if he doesnt understand "tappet"

Thanks bro.. btw.. got my bike fixed yesterday.. my disc failed totally.. it was useless.. so i took it to the showroom.. he fixed it.. and also the engine sound reduced.. but the front tyre is really tight in rotating.. but my disc isnt really effective.. he says it has absorbed oil.. so it will take a long time to get going well.. well ill get the 'tippets' checked :P thanks for the info bro.. oh and btw. he says the chain needs to be replaced.. i can feel that.. hope im not goin offtopic.. sorry.. just avoiding multiple posts.. im noob at forums.. anyways.. can a local mech. do it?? btw that chain costs hefty.. 800-1000 + labor charges.. dad will be serious.. he is kinda budget type.. can the local mech replace chain??

How to Upjet the carb...?

I recently bought K&N air filter for my bike and installed it in my bike. The mechanic that i went to dint re-jet it. He simply tuned my carb. I dunno why he did this. Maybe due to shear laziness. He was not my regular mechanic. His shop was closed and i had to opt for another one..! Can we rejet the carb on our own.. Can anyone tell me how to do it...?

K&N RC-1060 fro Hero Honda Ambition

This is my first thread on xbhp. I own a 2002 Hero Honda Ambition. I have put 81,000kms on it. I wanted to use a good air filter for it. Does RC-1060 fit for my bike? Or any other air filter which suits it? Please suggest me. Thanks in advance.

INQUIRY - Carbon In & Out Filters



Hello people,

I am looking to replace my stock P220F air filter to one of a brand.
My bike is 6 months old and I usually drive between 80 - 120kph due to the highway located on my office way.
I had heard about the K&N green air filter. Earlier thought of buying that.
Lately I have heard about the Carbon In & Out Filter, and some of my friends are recommending me that.

I am quite confused over the same.

Can somebody please guide me on where to take my step and some light on the differences of these filters including their prices, would be appreciated.
