  • plz help me selecting a 150CC bike

    Hi guys.........
This is Shahriar here. For the first time i've become a member of any motorcycle community & thats XBHP.i live in Bangladesh & a university student. i need help chosing a 150CC Bike.
I'm going to buy a bike this monday(30th august). I've already chosen CBZ-X.
But want to know if any of u recommend anything else & ur recommendations about other biks. U know excitement is blasting through my veins.
In bangladesh only bikes up to 150CC is available(legally).those are:
    1.pulsar 150 UG 4.5
    2.hero honda hunk
    3.hero honda cbz xtreme
    4.honda unicorn
    5.tvs apache 150
    6.yamaha fz-s/16/fazer

what i want from my bike
    * great accelaration
*durability & reliablity ( gonna have to run it for minimum 3-4 years)
    *decent mileage(not below 40)
    *great handling
    *comparatively decent top end
    *decent touring comfort
    *very good cruising ability (70-100kmph)
    *comparatively less vibration free ride

I'm gonna run it mostly in city & occasional weekend trips

now please help me chose a bike.......plzzzzzzzzzzzzz

@ ShahriarXtreme.. Looking at ur requirement i feel the FZ would be an ideal choice... but also think it would help you if you can check out YAMAHA'S new offering the Sz-X which is a 150cc bike and you can get all the details here.

        hope its helpful

        cheers

            thnx for ur reply........
but fz's fuel efficiency is worst in bangladesh because of poor fuel quality.people here are getting 25-35kmpl max.
but the main thing- fz is great till 70kmph but after then its slow i mean too slow.so in highway i wont have a good cruising experience.every month i have to travel 500km from my home to where i'm living now.
thats why i eliminated fz unless u people say otherwise...

about sz.....well it'll take minimum 8months to arrive in bangladesh......& i wont consider it.....because its only 12 ps & max torque comes @4500rpm.....so its not a revvy engine.....i like to take bikes to redline.......fast
            btw thnx again.......

Unicorn is a proven bike, but looks so old.
You can opt for GS150R too.

If both not available go to P150
With Great Power, comes Great Responsibilities .....

shahriar bro you have made a good option of picking the CBZ-xtreme no looking back hero honda is well known for its reliability and handling of the lot the only thing thats near close is only unicorn if you want better mileage go for unicorn IMO 1-CBZ-X 2- unicorn

looking at all of your needs let me tell you a thing
the bike with good cruising ability might not have a high top end
in my opinion fz 16 is the 1 that fits into your needs
it has a superb torque figure descent top end
excellent handling(the best part of it) stunning looks
and most important a reliable engine and brand!
REV it hard until u feel
adrenaline gushing in through ur body
AND of course thats called nirvana!

its not that fz is slow after 70
i am riding it from last 8 months and i can say its bit sluggish after 85 range
but its ubber smooth in the red line that's around 120 range
and yes it gives you back pain if you ride around 100 km at a stretch
and of course it eats fuel!
REV it hard until u feel
adrenaline gushing in through ur body
AND of course thats called nirvana!

dude don't think am stressing on FZ cos am a Yamaha dealer.. but the fact is that YAMAHA is a very reliable brand now (lest not get into the past ) and with the latest technology, looks and low maintainance cost the FZ would be an ideal choice.. the FZ is very stable even at high speeds.. has decent fuel avg for a 150cc performance segment bike and can do high speeds od 100+ on highways.. i have ridden the bike for 300+ kms ride and have enjoyed each and every minute spent on it.

Well these are just my honest opinion.. rest the choice is yours. good luck and advance wishes for your new ride.

                        Ride Safe.
                        JOSH.

I own an FZ16 for the last 1.6 Years and completed 30000kms on it... My opinion is to go for FZ as of your choice. its not sluggish after 70kmph... my bike will go upto 90 easily and with a lil more time it can reach 105kmph, i saying coz i use this bike for my monthly ~600kms(to-fro) office and home... and i always ride it above 80 and there no lag i could feel... its really awesome and it has low maintenance also... the only bad thing i feel on it is its mileage... as am getting a mileage between 35-40 under any riding conditions... my second choice will be Unicorn... a proven smooth hassle free ride...
And if you have zero'd your choice on CBZXtreme you can go for it blindly, its an awesome bike also...
                          sigpic...Ride Long...Ride Safe...

thnx for all of ur rapid response.......
almost all of u suggesting to go for fz. i really appreciate ur suggestion.i'm driving my friends fz for the past 3 days. in india good quality fuels are available.
but let me tell u in bangladesh fuel quality is too poor thats why every bikes fuel efficiency is very low no matter how u maintain it.let me give u some examples of other bikes FE:
                              pulsar150 - max 45kmpl
                              unicorn- max 48kmpl
                              cbz -x - -max43kmpl
                              hunk-max45kmpl
fz- max 35kmpl(only heard 1 owner got it.....others are getting 30)

cant believe????well this is what people of this country gets.i have seen no1 getting 50 kmpl in any 150cc bike.well its a dream!!!!!!!!!!
well about fz ride quality is fantastic i have to admit.but the bike that i'm driving giving me 30kmpl(no ripping).this is what my concern.
i said after 70 its sluggish.....i mean the way cbz-x gets to 100 fz is not like that.
gs 150R is not available.we dont have any dealer of suzuki in bangladesh.

one more important thing......i'll always have (most of the time) my gf as my pillion rider........& i think fz has a small pillion seat......
