  • Commu-tourer banter!

I have been looking at many bikes for about two months now; and still have not narrowed down to one! Even the showroom guys think I am only window shopping.

Anyway, I'm a second year college guy, with a mind for touring. Being in college, I will have to commute a lot too!
I am looking for a 150cc (or less). Dad wants me to buy my fav........ the avenger; but he won't understand why I want to keep his pocket happy. BTW, it should be the other way round, no?

Anyhow, after some research, I came to know that the Honda CB Unicorn is the most potent tourer. The GS150R is close behind. The Unicorn is too boring - the looks I mean.
I was wondering, is the Dazzler a good tourer? What are the pros and cons.

Another thing that keeps on ringing in my mind is the new Bajaj Pulsar 135LS. It has got enough power to match up to the 150cc bikes and the power to weight ratio is great too I reckon!
Now is this bike good for touring as well?

Of course, I am not going to be touring all year round! I want to do Ladakh a couple of times. Other than that, I will be on open roads going from Chandigarh to Jaipur to Vadodara and Chandigarh to Chennai (about 1300 kms). Now for this reason, the bike has to have a decent speed and should be able to run without crying (engine noise, wear and vibes) for a long period of time.

I would suggest you take a look at the hh hunk/xtreme whichever suit your style. My recommendation will be the hunk however. It's got good looks, especially in candy red, good engine, a sporty yet comfortable riding stance(for your touring) plus it gives decent mileage. It's only advantage over the xtreme being the GRS. It's good for touring too(i've done over 300kms on it recently so i know for sure). As regards the dazzler i didn't find it all that great in regards to looks, sure it's new and all but i feel the front is not that well done, i find the twister to be better. Even the tank feels puny near the saddle.
          The purpose of biking -
100cc- to get from point A to point B
          125cc- to get there fast
150cc- to have some fun while getting there
200+cc- to start from point A and forget when point B passed by

It's not the ride but the rider that matters!

Thanks for the prompt replies guys. I am aware of the bike's capabilities as a commuter, but how is it as a tourer.
I intend to ride long distances. Mostly 300 to 500 km at 80 to 90 kmph! Can the dazzler hold on to its boots in this department?

Also, I heard that the seat is not at all comfortable. Is that true?
Can the Pulsar 135 handle such speeds over such distances?

I have had these two bikes in mind as well!
I like the looks! The Dazzler, well, it's nice in my opinion, but then, it's just a matter of personal taste!

On that stretch of 300km, what speed did you ride at most of the time.
I think the CBZ is a bit better looking. Is it as comfortable?

Don t believe on us every one will support their favorite or the vehicle they own

List out your requirement and do a 4 Kms test drive on each by keeping your requirement in mind and made sure which one passes

its your bike u drive and u decide

I believe every individuals requirement is different even though the variant(S) available in our market is limited and he should feel it before buying.

test drive feel is different i just want him to have that feel

If you are looking into CBZ-xtreme too then wait(if you can) for the new version to be released

I have listed my requirements already.
Commuting and touring (about 500 km a day).

As for the test ride, I can't. I don't know how to ride a bike as yet. So will have to ask for advice.
