wat sms lingo ?? i guess ur colleauge does not know how to drive..Originally posted by madhav krishna View Postwhat's the use of a disc brake in a commuter bike?? The bike isnt too heavy & hence a drum brake is enough for the required stopping force. Adding a disc brake would increase the cost & hence yamaha had removed it to keep the costs less. BTW it is already having a bigger drum brake than others so there is enough braking force.
I know a colleague of mine who never drove a disc brake bike & one day he had brought a pulsar. After that he had 3 crashes on it. All the credit goes to the disc brake. Most of the people have only used drum brakes & use them with a very high force. But the disc's dont need that much force & hence it is not safer sometimes. Most of the accidents in india are because of disc brakes only. I am not against the disc brakes but the drum would be much safer in rural places & for commuting.
secondly, you are using too much of sms lingo which is against the xbhp rules.
and wat is this " very high force " ?
" But the disc's dont need that much force & hence it is not safer sometimes. Most of the accidents in india are because of disc brakes only" - now,how did u come to this conclusion ?? if u really want a commutor, get a 100cc,a 150c commuter like a disco 150 with a DISK break
is good, but i really feel a 150 definately needs a disk as it is capable of hittin triple digits.. it's not abt the weight, but the speed at which u go and the time taken to stop from that speed..
even the gearless scooters are comin with disk breaks nowadays..RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!

Try to avoid using sms language. That is against the xBHP rule. Use full words. Please try to adhere to it.Originally posted by Dogg View Postwat sms lingo ??
About the discs.. Yes they are much safer & better then drums anyday..Just need to get acquainted with its functioning.

Also look at the new 125 cc bike Slingshot from Suzuki. Seems like good mileage is what they are focussing on.

why are you guys discussing on disk brakes..
the thread starter wants to know weather SZ is worth buying...
if we compare our bikes to international ones than 600-1000cc bikes come with disk brakes, so 150-180-200cc bikes don't deserve it, isn't it ??
don't we have it ??
disk brakes are a must for riding in rains and to be honest much more necessary for riding in traffic as these slow moving traffic bikes needs to stop instantly at times (personal experience) CC's don't matter. Stopping does, even from 100kmph even from 20kmph.
go for yamaha SZ, i know no one here at xbhp owns it, but its a de-tuned FZ engine so the bike would be good on mileage and good on reliability.
absence of disk brakes make it cheaper.
i haven't ridden it, but can predict after riding fazer and fz as what de-tuned could be like..
ride it once, if your happy, go for it.Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

sms language. Cant you afford a little bit more time to type the complete words instead of using shortcuts?? Think about it
i guess ur colleauge does not know how to drive..
I wouldnt use that kind of words if i was in your place.
and wat is this " very high force " ?
We have to pull the brake lever(in drum brakes) a bit hard while in disc brakes even pulling the lever lightly will also do the work because of the effectiveness of disc brakes.
" But the disc's dont need that much force & hence it is not safer sometimes. Most of the accidents in india are because of disc brakes only - now,how did u come to this conclusion ??
Its just my personal opinion. Just look around you. The 2-wheelers are more vulnerable to accidents because they are less stable than the 4-wheelers. Whenever a person is riding & if suddenly he applies the disc brakes while squeezing the lever then the front tyre gets jammed due to which the bike looses its stability & falls. While most of the drum brakes dont jam the tyres at that instant & helps in the stability.
if u really want a commutor,get a 100cc,a 150c commuter like a disco 150 with a DISK break

Oh really?? Just tell me the power output of SZ?? Already i have mentioned in my previous post that the bike has been provided with a larger drum brake which is more efficient in bringing the bike to a halt than a regular drum. The bike has been made in keeping mind about the commuters & hence for the city traffic even the drums are enough.
even the gearless scooters are comin with disk breaks nowadays..NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

luckily i have tried most of 100-16 cc bikes including twister and sz-x
sz-x is 12bhp 153cc engine.....runs well fare share of power light enough and at same time heavy at handling[maybe coz i took test drive after taking of fz]
no reviews ....company is claiming 60 mileage you may get 50
has potential and lookwise good you dont feel underlocked when riding with fellow friends
twister
well the bike is big in small package....company claiming 70 average should be 60...has a pick up of good bikes scores uniqueness in looks and light weight
little short for long guys maybe
you wont need much of seat covering while in sz seats are hard......
if you commute with many people and want extra cc its sz else for mileage and light twister
twister has 4 gears so see your riding style before checking
also take a test drive of both and on same day before buying
your call........
btw whats "IMO"??

Need You inputs Yamaha SZ-X
Hi all,
I need a bike for commuting ... I already own Unicorn..i use this bike in my home town...So am looking a non-honda ...
My requirements:
1) Its should look sporty & trendy..
2) Reliable
3) Mileage minimum 50 +
4) Height -> sorry i dont my correct height.. but honda unicorn's height is fine for me..
I have selected Yamaha SZ-X finally from (Pulsar 135,slingshot,yamaha sz-x).. some of my friends saying that this Yamaha sz-x doesnt have good pickup,,low mileage...
So please tell me whether yamaha sz-x disappoints me or not?
Thanks!!
