  • Yamaha FZ vs Honda Dazzler ? Confused !

    Ok. First Things First.

I know there is another thread with the same context but I want fellow riders to suggest one for ME as everyone's needs are different

So its between the FZ and Dazzler.

    I am 23 , 5"8 and 65kilos with a slim-to-average kind of build

Things I want In my bike :

    1. Budget of 75K (already stretched from 65K, so cant stretch anymore)
    2. The Bike should have easy Handling ; preferably lightweight so i have more confidence in corners.
    3. The Bike should return a mileage of atleast 40KMPL
    4. The Ride should feel engaging and enjoyable
    5. Should be low on maintenance...this is very imp..it should not turn into a pain in the a** after a year.
    6. Reliable in Long term... this will probably be my last bike [next will be a car ]
    7. Service and Parts should be easily available
    8. Mostly to be used in City riding...very very rare on highways..In either case speeds in excess of 80Kmph are strict no-no.

I took a test ride of both and both felt very good

So My Concerns for Dazzler :

    1. It is a comparatively new product (so reliability cannot be fully ascertained , although I know Honda bikes are known for reliability but still it IS a new product)
    2. Looks are nothing to talk about. No sense of uniqueness
    3. I hate the commuter-ish Handle Bar [also wires running all around] and Seating position.
    4. Bike is good but there is no sense of adventure when riding
    4. There is a long waiting period here in Hyderabad [2-3 months]

    Positives for Dazzler :
    1. It is a Honda
    2. Console is Better.
    3. I feel it is Lighter than FZ ; slightly more flickable due to its size.
    4. Service Network is definitely better ; parts availability
    5. Good resale value (just in case )

    Concerns for FZ :
    1. Rims breaking / Bending

I understand this is a common problem in FZ but in most cases i have heard/read that the rider was well above 60 and over very bad potholes that this occurs.
Somebody please clarify this : I am gonna ride in City with mostly 60-65 kmph speed (max). Is this really a threat (Hyd xBhpians can understand better and comment)

    2. Mileage

Again ; with my relaxed riding style (mostly under 5K rpm) , can I expect a mileage of 40?

    3. Service Network

How is the service network (esp in Hyd , if someone knows )

    Positives for FZ :

everything [gr8 engaging ride , gr8 handling , looks well what to say , gr8 handlebars , neat fit n finish of every part , as a package it rocks really ]

    Please help me out.

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

        Similar threads here..

If you do not care mileage and want to have fun-to-ride bike, just go ahead with FZ. The torque spread and roll-on timings are better for FZ than Dazzler.

u already know which bike to go for...
Dazzler is just making a back door entry into ur mind...
u like FZ go ahead with it..if u ride below 65kmph even a R15 will get u more than 40kmpl.
Maintenance yes Honda has upper hand but with ur wordings looks like u'll just ride the bike safe so don't worry.

will recommend you fz as it suits all your requirements.....
though fz might be heavier it's flickability in the market is a lot on fz you can do things which wont be possible on other bikes because of its rear tyre.

since you dont go beyond 80 kmph speed go for fz. The fz looks bulky but its handling is best in its segment. The dazzler might be new but its engine is not new. It's the same engine found in unicorn & many other 150's. So reliability is not a concern as the unicorn is having one of the most reliable engines in india.
If you ride consciously then both can deliver 40+ mileage easily.
Reliability/Quality of honda & yamaha is more or less equal.

congrats bro. welcome to the gang !

mileage is a big question mark on fz cause even if you do 40kmph it might give you 20kmpl lol refinement is a another issue dazzler is better on that front. otherwise they are very similar bikes.

you can read my full comparo here

as for service centre ask satan69 or @ the hyd g2g thread.

i think most of the new buyers are confused between these 2 bikes nowdays....Actually both are very good bikes in their own way ...and its quite simple..just chose your priorities--

Looks & handling = Yamaha FZ

Mileage, Performance ,Suspension,Braking = Honda Dazzler
                      Don't Honk Unnecessarily

Braking is that wee bit better on the FZ.

its FZ all the way mate.......my friend is getting around 40 kmpl on FZ,and he is a rider like you(wont go above 70-80 kmph mark).
And about yamaha quality/reliability,even though not like the honda's,but as long as you take care of it,its the best.

                              Thanks ALL !

Thanks all for ur enthusiastic replies.

Honda just lost a potential customer due to their cold attitude in Sales
                              and crazy waiting times.

On the other hand , I do admit that the FZ is a lot more fun to ride [infact its an absolutely joy to bend the curves on a FZ] and of course it is better looking and has better tech and features.
I also believe the FZs manufactured in 2010 are less prone to the rim bending/breaking problem and I am mostly a sober rider so i am likely to get 40KMPL That's it , I am happy !

The Dazzler may have better performance but that is only after 7K rpm [The FZ loses out in top end only], but that is the least of my concerns

I have gone ahead and booked my Red Beast . It will be here in 10 days !!
