  • Honda New Dio for my Wife

Hi all, i'd like to buy a scooter for my wife this month, and we gone through TVS Scooty Pep+, Hero honda Pleasure, Suzuki Access, Honda Activa and New Dio..We don't like scooty Pep+, also she doesn't want activa and access 125, because she is only 4.8ft..so we decided to buy Honda's New Dio. can we buy? we don't care about resale values. so forget about it. we need control, comfort, yeah mileage too [45-50 is ok]. so gimme a idea.

The Dio is a good gearless scooter. However, it has one of the most uncomfortable pillion seats with respect to the footrest. Its extremely uncomfortable for people taller then 5' 6" (personal experience) and people with long legs. Do consider this before picking the Dio.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Hi - we've also been thinking along the similar lines...

Just wanted to understand why did you reject the Access??

If anyone can help - is there a comparo between Aviator - Activa - Access - Duro?

I saw another discussion where I saw the comparison when some one wanted to try out for his father in law...But wanted an objective comparison on the above mentioned stuff.. Would be great if anyone can help on the same.

Dio would not give you the figures of average between 45 to 50. You could expect a max of 40kmpl. Moreover Dio's HL sucks.
Pleasure would be the best bet. Satisfies you on the mileage as well as its light weight too & perfect for the women.

I heard my bro telling that his Dio easily gives 45 kmpl.

So, I guess, the FE would largely depend on the riding style of the individual!

From my personal experience,, it may not suite her height... 5.3ft+ suits DIO.. i own a dio n i'm 5.8ft..
mileage is 45+ under normal riding n nrml tuning

HH Pleasure is the best for her height. Also, you can try the Mahindr Rodeo, it's got good looks and it's also a 125cc engine and lots of other goodies like front fuel filler, digital display etc. etc.

Dio is a very good scooter in terms of style, handling & performance. Although the fuel efficiency you are expecting is nearly impossible to extract from dio.To be honest no scooter in india gives a fuel economy of 50 or above. The scooters donot have good aerodynamics as in bikes & moreover they are automatics which accounts for the low fuel economy. I am myself 6 feet height & i found it very hard to drive the dio since my knees get interferred with the handle. Hence it is very uncomfortable for tall persons & yeah even the seats arent very comfortable. But the kind of light-weightedness it offers due to fibre body is not offered by any other scooters as of now. Even the maneuvering is very easy. I have heard that the access 125 is also a good scooter & i think that you should reconsider it also.

Did you tried the mahindra rodeo?? It has got all the latest goodies & a good amount of power.

Nope, The Dio makes it difficult to attain this FE figures. It can't be achieved easily et all unless your brother ride in un spirited riding. Most of the owners here report poor FE figures of Dio including me. FYI, I have bought my DIO 4 months ago & I doesn't rev hard yet, it gives only 40 to 42 kmpl at max whatever slow & normal i ride.

Whoaa. Thank to god that you are achieving atleast that mileage figures. My mom uses dio & she rides very carefully & slowly. But still she is able to extract a mileage of hardly something around 30-35 kmpl. And that too these figures are achieved after using nulon, SS oil etc.

yes it is but nearly all the scooters have hard suspension otherwise the belt in the side connecting engine & tyre would break off. The dio comparitively has a stiffer suspension due to its light weight. The light weightedness reduces the load on the spring & hence gives a bouncier & stiffer ride. While others due to comparitively higher weight have a load on the spring due to which the ride is bit smoother & comfortable.
