Well I am new to this forum and planning to buy a bike soon (maybe in march 2011). So was researching on the best bike around and will be buying it from my own money (earning through Blogging).

Presently I own a scooty pep and its high time that i better get a bike. BTW that scooty was for my sister but i had no other option than riding that itself.

      About Me :

      Height :5'9 or 5'10
Weight :59 Kg (I am building up and aiming for 70 KG as its my ideal body weight)
Age :Presently 19 and will be buying the bike on my 20th Birthday

      Requirements:

Daily commuting of 3 to 4 Kilometres
      Will be touring rarely
A good and a respectable mileage. (Pep gives me 30 mileage so around that will be fine)
      Budget :1 Lakh 10 thousand

      My choices :

      1) R15
I love this bike. But the problem is that I heard its not for tall people. Another big problem is that my father whose aged 45 years will also be riding the bike so wont he have back problems ? I can buy this bike for myself but what about the family aspect

A Blunder : When my parents visited the yamaha showroom the guy inside who introduced to the R15 said that this bike is good but so good. its only for rich people. Its not meant for potholes kinda road and its a track racing bike.
So the showroom guy filled some bad impression in my parents mind about the R15

      2) Pulsar 220
This bike is the no1 choice of my parents because of the price and looks. (dont know why parents dont like the looks of R15)
I too liked this bike before i know R15. I dont like 220 design. I am also scared of its weight.
Well i can ride this bike and its perfect for my dad too. It just fixes my budget

So guys I am damn confused. Tell me Which one to go for

Also want to know. Will be there be any new bikes going to be launched like 220 or R15 price range by march 2011?
R15 is a better & reliable option among both bikes, though P220 will fill your requirement better as your dad will also be riding your bike..

as per your query about new launches, CBR150 MIGHT come to India..

P.S - why don't you consider ZMA? its reliable + your father & you both can use it the way you want..its comfortable & powerful enough for Indian roads..

a 100 cc bike like splendour or Star city will be best for riding in those conditions cruising at 20-30 kmph

And for the usage that you are talking about 1.1 lakhs on R15 is an absolute waste(also the riding position isn't too good) and seriously speaking even 80K on pulsar would not be worth it
You could rather go for a 135 LS now and when actually want to do "HARDCORE" riding then go for a really good bike and am sure 2-3 years down the line much better bikes would have been released
If you keep waiting always better bikes will be launched down the line at some point of time. R15 is the bike to go for when you have moolah..

                        R15

when you have bike then your daily commuting of 3-4 kms will turn to 30-40 kms and about the bike '' everybody in this world come for different tasks to perform same with these bikes. p220 for fastest indian tag, more power and of course less price and R15 is for feel like rossi . head turning, reliability, respectable power which u can use to full extent and at the same time you can control it,you will feel u bought a minisuperbike[for riding pleasure and prototype looks] and yes girlfreindS. so your call.

though budget is sometimes a deciding factor.

I too face a similar kinda problem..
If you're ready to wait, may be the CBR150 version would come to India.. but that's leaving things to chance..
I see that you're very much in love with the R15.. .. but yea, certain aspects of it would leave you still in doubt..

I drive a cbz to college everyday..... after driving the R15 once.... i really liked the engine response and everything.. but some small things like the gear shift, which i didn't find very comforting;had to stretch my foot to shift the gears..the riding position,... will take some time..
being said that... i still think R15's the best choice. ..

but again.. for commuting purposes , i'd rather buy a cheap,less-powered,maintainence-free second hand bike and keep the R15 at home for touring and showing off.. !!
                          any ways.. good luck bro!

based on your requirements i would suggest the P 220 for you only cos you said that your father would ride it a bit too and in MY opinion r 15 would be a bit too extreme in terms of riding posture.

Though if you were to take your father out of the equation i would ask you to go for the R15 blindly.

I would recommend the ZMR to you as well as you'd mentioned that you want to look different from the crowd, except ofcourse you'll do so but only in a bad way! ( i noe i am inviting lots of brick bats from HH fanboys or ZMR owners but i just can't help it, the bike looks really awful)
                            respect ma authoritae!!

Ya i too heard about the speculation that CBR 150 going to come. If its priced at around 1,10 then i am surely gonna buy it but the problem that kicks my ass is that i would be buying it for my family purpose too.... Wont my father get used to the riding posture..?

                                this is my opinion only......
R15 is a very good bike.
*Its has a better road manners than the bajaj.
*It has a sporty riding stance
                                *It looks stunning
                                *high revving nature
But my suggetion to you is the pulser 220.You will really feel that strong kick back feeling from mid range itself. Soft suspension ensures that your dad stay comfortable.GOOD top speed to play in highways and the low end torq will help you a lot in city.Good handling.
According to me torque is always fun to play with.
The price is another factor. You will save enough money to go to a good long trip(who knows may be another leh travelogue ).
Maintanance cost is also less than r15.City conditions and bad roads are well suited for pulser than the yamaha.

TEST DRIVE both and decide .

But pulsers are not as refined as the yamaha.
From what i heard, in a straight line drag the bajaj out runs the yamaha. But IN TRACKS the r15 smokes any Indian bike at its price point.
