  • What's a good bike for a girl?

Looking to get a bike, but my bro will also be using it. How is the bajaj pulsar for this? are there any girl bikers out there (not scooter riders) that can help? Thanks

    Hi,

If you can explain your queries a little more, it will be very helpful for the members to answer; like your budget, the main purpose of the bike usage (commuting/touring/stunting/occasional use), any other preferences or character that you would like to see in your bike.

For me, the best bike for a girl would be a bike which is more reliable of the lot.

i didn't understand the query, but maybe your looking for a bike for your brother, which even you can ride, assuming that you are a girl as your name is manasi.

my girlfriend rides a TVS Flame 125.
this bike is small and lower so that her feet easily touches the floor, and light also so that she can maneuver it easily.
      she's 5.3 btw and weighs 45kg.

so even i find this bike good, it offers great mileage, reasonable power and the best part is that its the most suitable bike for an average indian girl, she test rode almost every bike in the market, but found this one to be the best.

Just go for the Splendor if your bro is ok for it. It's the perfect one for a girl. Reliable, easy to ride, fuel efficient, smooth, forgiving in the case of handling it roughly
Young riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !

As per your requirement, a good 'bike for a girl' would be.

          1. Light weight
          2. With a low saddle height
          3. Being decently powerful works for everybody,

Assuming you will be using the bike for around 300km/week, it has to be decently fuel efficient.
Since you mentioned your interest in Bajaj Pulsar (150?) I assume your budget to be around 70k (Pulsar 150 is priced at Rs. 68,070 on the road Pune)

Good bikes which fit your requirement:

Pulsar 135LS (Rs.58,705): 122kg (P150 is 137Kg). Decent power comparable to everything in 150cc, Fuel Economy(FE) better than everything in 150cc segment.(13.5 Ps power)

Honda CB Twister (Rs.56,538): 108kg, very good commuter, good looks. FE of 60+

Hero Honda Achiever (Rs.61,415): 134Kg, Hero Honda Reliability, good fuel efficiency and excellent service backup. 13.4 Ps Power

TVS Flame DS (Rs. 56, 796): 126Kg, Decent review in the post by NANOTechnology. Power: 10.5 Ps

Apache RTR 160 (Rs. 68,885): Lighter(134kg), More powerful(15.4 Ps), cheaper than Pulsar 150. Earned the most points in a shootout conducted by Bike India magazine regarding the best bike for female riders.

@Others Please dont tell me that girls cannot handle higher powered bikes as most of you might be knowing that in Europe, the Ninja 250R is a very hit bike among the females.

Reason for not recommending Unicorn/CBZ Extreme/Hunk is due to their weight(all 146kg) and will be a pain to take in and out of a parking.

All prices are On The Road Pune.

P.S.: Nobody rides a 100cc out of choice. Splendor and Passion are old generation's outdated bikes. I wont recommend it to even my worst enemy. Get a CB Twister instead, its a splendor only better.

P.P.S.: My opinion.. No offends to anybody.

Antz.Bin has more or less nailed it... he missed out on bike though... Avenger220.

It has the lowest saddle height and should be easy to manage with a little learning.
Sheetal from Hyderabad chapter used to ride a Avenger and P150 and now rides a bullet... Urvashi Pataole from Pune rides an XCD (you can swap it with the P135)

So all in all, Girl or Guy doesnt make a huge difference... let us know what are you looking for from the bike

Again left out due to its extra weight and cumbersome maneuverability in the city (personal experience), though the saddle height of 710mm is impressive here, weight of 156kg will not go well with it.

I would also suggest Pulsar 135 LS rather than Pulsar 150 for a girl.
If looking for more power, then Apache RTR 160 is also good( it is very light and also short in height).

Yeah, Pulsar 135 or Apache should fit the bill.

The pulsar should be fine,my girl friend rides a p-150 and a bullet without any issues, that too with me as a pillion(i am heavy,92 kgs).If you are looking for a good city bike, the apache 180 or the apache 160 should be fine, else the pulsar all the way.
Ps- as the other bhpians have pointed out the 135ls is also a good option.

                            need more girls like you

Try out yamaha FZ-16. It's amazingly easy to ride, the stability is unmatched in that segment. give it a test drive before you zero in on any other bike. Your brother will like it too, it's stylish and has pretty decent power.

I am with satyen for Avenger(75K).. reason is low saddle hight.. which compensates for weight.. though it would be best for highways only..

another left out is R15.. though its for 1Lakh+.. but its also very light, nimble and awesome bike..

both above cannot be categorized as commuter bikes as per indian general standard.. but including them here as specification is not mentioned.

if riding pleasure is the 'target' these aer two best bikes available in india for light weight, low saddle hight and ultimate riding pleasure on highways..
