  • Need to decide between P135. P150 or Dazzler.

Hi all! My first post here. Firstly I am only just learning to ride a motorbike and planning to get one myself come Diwali. But can't make up my mind on which to buy. Any help is much appreciated.

    Budget : 70K
Bikes on my mind : P135, P150, Honda Dazzler
    Current favorite : Honda Dazzler
    Height : 6ft
    Weight : 70 kgs

I plan to use the bike for my daily commute to the office(70 kms total). But I also intend to do a fair bit of touring (500km+ trips) atleast once every month. I already go out occasionally on such trips riding pillion on my friend's bike. I really love touring. So the bike must be able to handle touring duties.

I am yet to see a black Dazzler in flesh, so am not sure about the aesthetics. But I saw one in a golden shade at the Honda showroom and I didn't like the looks. I wonder if it looks better in black.

P150 looks better. P135 even more so. Now only if the P135 was a Honda bike I would have bought it with eyes shut. It is simply the most value for money bike there is. But I am really concerned about the overall quality on Bajaj bikes. Going through the P135 ownership thread, I found there are one too many minor niggles with this bike. This could get really frustrating in the end. Is the performance worth overlooking these issues? Also at almost 6 ft, would this bike look too small for me?

Can anyone make a good case for the P150? Good looks and size are two things already in its favour, but what about quality? Or should I rather stick with a Honda? How is this bike better than the P135?

Any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance

P135LS.. is exceptional value for money, it's a very reliable bike (I've done almost 8k in 8 months without any problems, what so ever). That said..I believe it's not really comfortable for 500km+ trips ... From the options Dazzler seems to be your best bet as it's seating position is good for those long trips meaning you dont' need to adjust yourself, it's got a rear disc as well.

Why not a GS150R? It is good for long tours, due to its 6th cog. Coming from Suzuki, you will not bother about the quality. But, I vote for Dazzler in city due to its light weight and easy flick ability.

If you want style & mileage both then P135 is best.

But you have 70k budget & mileage isn't main factor then I think you will go for Pulsar150cc.

Dazzler had removed the kick start features – which is a big drawback because on many Indian roads, you can’t trust the automatic systems.

My friend owns a Honda dazzler. Performance is definitely better than Unicorn but mileage is less due to better performance. Neither does the top speed reaches 131 nor 118…. The company claims it is only 108. Ride quality is better than Unicorn and the handling is even better. IT looks good but it is not as good as either Pulsar Apache FZ….
Overall a good bike but too late….Looks to similar to Twister that's the main fault…But really glad that they included digital fuel gauge and a rear disk brake….Hats off to them for it….

Check this link it will help(http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...er-2010-a.html)

Not having a kick starter is not a very big drawback. You will face problem only when you have problem with Battery. Honda has included maintenance free sealed battery and very rarely it fails. Now, there are many bikes in India without kick start and there were not much of complaints from them. In rare cases when the battery fails, you can push the bike in first gear and start it.

I would also vote for Suzuki GS 150R, due to the 6th cog it would be good for touring compared to other 150s.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think i'll probably go for the Dazzler. Unless it looks too bad in flesh that is. Else it would probably be the P150 or the Gs150.

Honestly, I cannot answer this question. I have not particularly observed any GS150R that is a bit old. One thing is for sure, the Suzuki India is way below quality of R15 from Yamaha. Yes! only R15. I have seen many bikes from Yamaha with faded plastic and switchgear in just year and half. My 2003 splendor still shows the markings on the switchgear very very clearly. Certainly, Honda has a standard quality; I can vouch for this.

Your basis of this assumption? What about rust issues?

As you know I have had the pleasure to ride the FZ series Motorcycles too for a significant period. They are on par with a Unicorn.

I have been sampling a Suzuki Zeus and was instrumental in its purchase over a Honda Shine. I still regret the decision. IMHO Zeus isn't any good, the GS has taken a step forward, but isn't a big one, but a half-hearted attempt. (pls no offence to existing 'zuki riders and consider it as a mere rant)
