  • Can the STD bullet tour?

I am going for a bullet finally......... *sigh*
my options are the STD and electra.

I prefer the STD version, the fenders look a lot better. But is it a capable tourer? Can it munch miles fast, and is the Electra better in any way?

yes Bullets are suited for touring only...... i think Electra will be better with 5 gears and disc brake.

STD is available with UCE 350 engine. Only problem is no Electric start. But costs less compared to other models from RE.

Good Choice.. Go for old Standard or Electra. Electra 5s has an added advantage of disc break and electric start,5th gear. Also you can look into Machismo 350 or even Machismo 500. That's a good catch anyways

                  Buhahaha!

Of course bullet is 'capable' of touring.
Now the question is whether you want to buy cast iron engine model or new UCE model. You will find only second hand CI bike.

Else go for brand new electra, std or CL350,Thunderbird.They all have the same engine now.Cosmetics are subjective.

Either ways all bulls can tour but regular maintenance is a must.

Um, alright all this is kind of embarrassing!
I should have asked 'which one is the most comfortable'

I was buying through CSD (army) and I was told only Electra and STD are available. Then, I came to know the Thunderbird is also available! I had it in the garage by evening!

Running in the black beauty now! Thanks guys!

Oh, and yeah, the pope is Catholic! LOL

Awesome. Congrats. All RE bikes are great. I own a STD 350 CI and have done some long trips and enjoyed every bit of it.

Of course regular maintenance is a must. Please don't be lazy on that front.

                        Regards,

You have got a jackpot.....went in and came out with a RE the same day is a achievement...still I would have said Electra better than TB at any time...

                          Anyways no worries....RE's are RE's....

                          Happy Thumping

TBTS has UCE350 engine. Read the User manual thoroughly - running in information is given.

                              Do not exceed 50kmph for the first 500km (Rule of thumb - 1st gear-15kmph, 2nd-20-25kmph, 3rd-35kmph, 4th-45kmph, 5th-50kmph max)

Ride a mix of city and highway roads: City roads you will be using 2nd and 3rd gears and highway 4th and 5th gears. (Only city ride or only highway ride means you wont be using all gears)

Change gears frequently - do not ride in the same gear more than 1 km continuously.

Most important - do not "lug" the engine. (riding slowly in a higher gear). Shift down the gears immediately on slowing down

Stop the engine at traffic lights if you have to wait more than 30 sec (reduces heat)

Inspect engine oil level, oil leaks, chain tension etc every day.

Avoid hills, hairpin bends etc first 500km. and do 1st service promptly by changing engine oil and filter at 500-550km sharp

The above is from my personal experience and opinion.

                              regards
