As for power and handling, I'm sure you can't really go wrong with a this bike. But a thing to remember is that the engine will be more commuterish then for example the RTRs or Pulsars. (Perhaps a good thing for a new rider.)
    Sorry that is SZ-R

My first bike is the Honda twister.... So go for a light bike beacuse it helps a lot. The dazzler would be great! and if you can stretch your budget a little the fazer is also a good option. I personally would stick with the reliability of the Honda's.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

                  hi,

                  hi Manas,
                  and wishes to your brother...

i can relate to your query because even my brother is going through same situation...

FZ-s or the series of it.. whichever. ... FAZER

                  the reasons...

                  1. low seating height. ( so your brother will be very comfortable in handling it.)even if he is very tall and muscular.

                  2. Flat tyre at the back.. and the front tyre is also very FAT... ... Advantage... FZ stops in any goddamm situation... !
and thats really true.. i have tried emergency braking with FZ. (though i myself own a 220.)

                  3. Yamaha brand name.... definitely he will be an on-looker using a FZ.. and it comes in many colours to choose from. HE can also go for FAZER... good option.

                  4. Pulsars are good but they are not the best of the learning tools. The HANDLING of FZ is for Learners... they would be able to learn fast.... so as to upgrade to a bigger bike in the near future.

                  5. HANDLING... no other bike in the class has that comfortable(read easy) handling as FZ... you can ride it all day and you will not get tired... woww.. !

I have been riding P180 as my first bike( owned it for 5 years.)Then i upgraded myself to P220... but still for learners i won't recommend it.
You can have a pulsar if you want speed and high speed thrills... but definitely not for learners... I had many accidents and "Falls" with my first bike... at that time i was really learning..

                  Good Luck Happy riding..
and do post the pics of your brother with the bike... !
we will love to see them.

How about Pulsar 180? Its a very good bike to learn on, is cheap, has good handling, has good fuel efficiency and will quench his thirst for power once he learns to ride. It will take him hardly a week to learn to ride and less than a month to ride alone in traffic.

And dont worry about the "power" . 17PS and 0 - 100 in 13secs can hardly scare a cat .

180 is 145kg, its not that heavy. Even a 15yr old can ride it properly. Pulsar 180 is a very good learner bike. Cheap, reliable and easy to maintain. Parts are also cheap if the rider manages to drop the bike.

Also once he learns to ride. He will be cribbing for more power. 180 will quench his thirst for atleast a year. Later he can upgarde to a Proper 250 or a supersport.

I would say stay on the Honda Suzuki side, if you don't want him racing. This statement is as broad as can be, and I am sure it will be attacked by Pulsarians/Apache ppl. But if I were to buy some bike for my brother who cannot ride yet, I would definitely stay on bikes with less power.

Why? See, biking gives sense of freedom like no other. I remember taking out my bike whenever I felt angry/sad etc, and ride. If the bike is of racing type (and the person riding it), he will inevitably ride fast. Apache's position itself is very sporty, which is good in its own way. But I feel to enjoy power, you first need to understand responsibility. Hence, I will recommend:

                              1. Dazzler - especially if your brother is small in height, it is qiute small and light weight
                              2. Unicorn - Bit heavy and bigger than Dazzler
                              3. Yamaha SZ-R

Under 150CC bike won't make sense if you can easily afford 150cc. Because in 1-2 years, he will feel need for upgrade.

                                180 UG4 is 147 KG. Check here

                                P200 was 145kg
