    BOUGHT GS150r

Hey, I'm an Engineering student 19years old height 5"10
Iam going to buy a bike this Jan

    Pros

    FZ--Pick up,looks,DC lighting,Good reviews

    GS 150r--Comfort,console,no vibes,6 gears

    Dazzler--Disc brakes,HONDA

    Apache 180--Speed,torque,exhaust note,style

    new Hunk(2010)--hero honda trust,looks

Cons (also indicated colors i'll be choosing )

FZ--low torque at higher speeds, weak rims, expensive spares, not so attractive speedo,no kick start and rear discs, open chain maintenance

    GS--rear brakes,heavy (although i didn't feel it)

    Dazzler--no kick start,cheap plastic finishing

Apache 180(white)--Vibs above 70,little uncomfortable seating,TVS service, hard clutch and stiff ride

    Hunk-- heard unstable above 80

my budget 80k and not considering mileage that much(dad said not to worry "just buy a good bike")
i have test ridden all except Hunk, still very confused

i will be using the bike for mainly ridding in Mumbai and also occasional trips with friends (one or two cars will also be their so need good high speed ridding on my bike)

What's wrong with Dazzler's plastic quality and where, could you point out? I'm thinking of buying it, i should be aware.

hunk, unicorn are basically the same bikes in different clothes.. chose any one of them depending on the loks you prefer.. the plastic quality is exeptional.
if you believe that the quality is cheap due to thin plastics, think again. they bend under impact and hence dont break often.. i have the old model hunk hence can swear by the utility of thin plastics on hondas .. please dont confuse this with flimsy plastics.. the quality of plastics is good on hondas..

since you live in Mumbai.....and considering the traffic there
-FZ and Dazzler are the best bet for the city Dazzler looks a bit awkward (personal opinion) and FZ lacks the power required for highway cruising
-Hunk the new one is kind off an desirable one......even i am yet to test ride it
-Apache white is also good for city but the vibes make you go numb when ridden for long distances
-GS150R is pure highway fun.......it is the best tourer after the ZMA

what about the mileage considerations???(considering petrol now costs 63 bucks per litre)

FZ can reach good speeds. but the acceleration is low after 85-90. can reach top speeds of over 110 for sure.

RTR vibrates between the range of 4.5k-5.5k rpm, above that it is smooth.Seating position can be uncomfortable.Ride quality a tad on the stiffer side as is to be expected from a sporty bike.Clutch operation is very much smooth.Buy this if you want something that can set your pulse racing and leave you with a grin everytime you come out of a corner. Its handling is spot on and the lean angles are almost insane, brakes are strong. Plus the white RTR looks gorgeous. This bike give you experience of raw power that no other bike in the segment can give.Last but not the least,it has got a better top end as compared to the bikes you had mentioned above. It's your call now.

              D.I.Y-Valve clearance setting RTR180
              D.I.Y-RTR180 brake fluid replacing/brake bleeding
              D.I.Y-RTR180 brake pad replacing/cleaning

Looks like everyone is not sure about Hunk so lemi put my experience as I owned one for 1.5 years before switching to R15

                Pro's:

HH brand reliable, good resale value, low maintenance
Most Comfortable (I feel so), Muscular looks, Decent FE (45-50 kmpl), Perfect for city commute
One of the bikes with perfect pillion slider seat (If you get what I mean )

                Con's
No Digital console, Battery Issue (Switch to Amaron is best solution)
Can be ripped till 110 with decent pick-up max you can reach is around 122 or so

I used it for 1.5 years and sold it at 16K on odo. Got a decent resale of 47K (20K less on original price)

Color advice: Choose Panther Black rather than plain black (If going for black)

Unicorn dazzler : the most underrated bike in India

Looks better in real than in pics. Honda factor. Stress free engine even at 100 kmph.

comfortable commuter position for long tours. Best mileage.

What else are you looking for my friend. Go for black color . You would not regret it.

Why not R15? You want to race with your friends in car and R15 can match it, the best 150 CC bike in India. Its very attractive too.

I would also suggest you to consider Karizma R.

I am suggesting you above 2 bikes considering you are not worried about FE and ever increasing petrol prices.

Also you haven't mentioned your budget. How much is your budget?

                        Sorry!!

just saw that this topic got approved(damn their is no notifications for it)
and thanks all for trying to help me out

The cheap plastic finishing i talked about dazzler is referring to the console and the rear fenders(totally my opinion)
                        R15-totally out of budget (80k)
apache 180 is kind of not in the running anymore cos the TVS service is totally horrible, witnessed first hand.

mainly considering GS and Hunk now. FZ and Dazzler as plan B
GS - if they offer to exchange it under warranty for the new 150cc bike coming in late 2011.
Hunk -If gs exchange is not possible

and wanted to ask is GS hard to maneuver under traffic?
does Hunk's shoulders on the tank gets loosened after time? and what about its vibs?

my friend is using hunk from past couple of years & till now he didn't face any major kind of prob with it..only once he was feeling that paint on his bike's left shoulder was a bit dull then other body but he got it replaced free of cost by HH service center..so no worries about quality or service..
& hunk is very smooth below 80k's..even till 100k's it'll feel ok but after that you'll need to push it hard to reach somewhere around 110k's n it'll vibrate while reaching that point too but that's justifiable as its having 150cc engine..

Yes GS is hard to manouver under traffic if and only if you are less than 5-10 in height......
and i doubt if the suzuki guys will exchange it for the performance model......

which is better among these two
HH Hunk(with rear disc) and Dazzler
the only technical difference between them is the monoshock in dazzler
both have engine borrowed from the unicorn with hunk having a little more power and how much difference does the monoshock make?
                              so which one is it?
