Yes the STD UCE comes with a left shifter and right nrake..and that fact also takes away half the fun of a bullet.. It s easier to ride a bullet with the brake on the left and the gear on the right once you are used to it.

We are taking this way off topic not sure about the Iron 883 on road price when I went to check at Tusker Harley last year they took me number down and said they d call me when thay have more details..I have not followed up since!

Well I am speaking with first hand real world expeirence.. I ve also owned a 2003 electra (CI Engine) in the past that my Mom forced me sell for reasons best known to her and I still regret doing that. The refinement of that engine was far ahead of the the UCE. And overall that older bullet felt strongly built as compared to the new 2010 one.

As per my little experiece about the Bullets and RE. you should go for the STD cause you like it,
add a disk to it if you want it will cost you 7.5K from the showroom.

nothing much to day it is very simple.

ddiffernt technology and all that is crap. they all run on the same engine oh yes the STD does not have a Self. so here you go cant be simpler than this. need any fiurther help PM me.

        Go for Std 350 UCE

Well, in terms of the engine - the STD and ELECTRA are exactly the same, however I somehow feel that STD has some old time charm, some nostalgia associated with it - black color, no chrome, full mudguards etc. I personally liked that and that's why went ahead with it.

Other thing which does not seem to have been discussed - neither it is available formally is - the crank weight.
I have confirmed with the dealer in Pune that STD is the only model in 350 CC variants which has higher crank weight! It has the heavy crank as that of Classic 500.
Elctra, C350 etc are lighted cranked bulls. Difference is crnk weight is around 2kgs (if I remember the numbers correctly).

Heavy crank means - you will be able to run at lower speeds comfortably in higher gears. I usually need to shift to 5th gear just after I cross 45kmph.
Heavy crank will also have disadvantages as well - the pick up will be sluggish to some extend.

Even though this may not be a decision making thing, I think it is definitely worth noting.

        Regards,
        Anand

thank you thank you thank you Sirs its pretty clear in my head now that im going in with the STD

my priority will always be smoother ride > speed

but a new problem has cropped up :/ this dealer had initialy agreed on making my feb 2010 p180 sell for close to 50k , but nnow is retracting saying "sir daam nahi mil raha hai utna.. " i jus CANNOT afford the bull unless my p180 ug4 sells for atleast 50k

Going lilttle ot: its very demeaning, right now i feel, all those hours spent at the workshop personaly overseeing every service, all those kms and hours spent finding the right place to get my motul 5100.. are of no value when it comes to the bike's internals during resale

Another issue that i have discovered is that it seems the STD has a heavier crank compared to the electra hence it vibes less, accelerates slower, can ride at lower speeds in higher gears.. what im worried about, is, whether that will have an impact on the fuel efficiency... the crank is said to be heavier by 2kgs

Not sure what is the expected mileage for Elctra UCE.

All in all, I am happy with my Standard 350 UCE

                    Dear Golto
Please cite your source. I am interested in this discussion and I thought the engines were exactly the same - manufacturing efficiencies.

A workshop manager told this to my friend who went there for his machismo's service.
manufacturing efficiencies are still met as the crank used in std is the one from uce 500

Why that period and not 2008-2010?

That was when Sidartha Lal was the head honcho at RE and was driving the company in a very good direction. The quality levels of bullets from that period is quite good as compared to lets say the latter one and the ones from the late 80s thru the 90s. I call this the Thunderbird era of RE. IT s when the Tbird was introduced and made quite an impact.

have to finish the first 500kms by coming friday so that i can change oil and take the bull to 60kmph to know how it feels
