    1) Suzuki GS150 (Thinking)
Issue is service, i am in Pallikarai, chennai i didn't find nearby service station. So this is my major concern.

    2) Honda Unicon (hold)
I have inquired in showroom seems they closed booking. They are not sure, when they will reopen booking. This is because of existing booking/delivery. (Still searching for other dealers. Unicon doesn't have digital display )

    3) Pulsar 150 (hold)
I like it but, in log run above 40/50 km engine noise will be a big issue. i felt it in my discover. i hope this applies for Pulsar too, am i wrong?

    4) Pulsar 135 (hold)
VFM package. My wife feels split seat/rear seat is bit higher side. also same Bajaj engine issue mention for 150. I felt Seats are very hard. Look is nice and my wife is OK with this)

5)FZ (Fight between heart and Brain => hold)
I love it's design. and new version is comes with kick start that is good to know. my heart says go with this. but my mind is still sits with Millage. and still big fight is going on with my heart and brain let see who wins
Is selecting FZ is good deal?

Is my list now make sense?

    Regards,
    TestDrive.

Thats the story of every new biker today. With the petrol prices going up every now and then, it really becomes difficult to choose between performance and average.

IMO you should try the 2011 CBZ Xtreme, It is the right mixture of performance and average. You can also look at Apache 160/180. Small niggles would be there whichever machine you opt for. You need to learn to live with them. I would suggest go with your heart but a test drive of the bike would surely help you.

      FZ comes with a discount

In case you did not already know, FZ is being offered a on discount. If you are student or have been referred by someone who already owns an FZ, you'll get 5000 (student) or 2500 (referral) off.

The RTR 160 / CBZ / GS150 are still my recommendations considering Fuel Economy.

That offer was valid till Aug' 2009.I don't think it's being offered now.

The new Apache 160 Hyper Edge has most of the vibrations issues sorted! I own a 3 month old RTR 180 and i dont feel any vibs on the bike (Considering i earlier owned a smooth HH Ambition 135). I feel the RTR 160 is a good package of power and efficiency. However the riding posture is a but sporty which might not suit everyone !

            i owned a GS150R... now i own a P220... I Sold the gs due to many reasons...
            inconsistent mileage,lack of spares,no proper service,etc..
what i can say is...GS Is the best refined bike in india..believe me u will not feel a single vibration even at speeds of over 100km/hr..such is the refinement due to its engine balance technology!
but the GS is too heavy too and very poor resale value! believe me! ....
my pick would be...u should go for the DAZZLER which is a complete package!
            u get everything in it..!
            it is the lightest too...!
just test ride the dazzler and tell what u feel!
            Biking is in my Blood!!

FZ is a good bike..... in 150 segments there are many options and the best way is to test drive the bikes..... if your friends have the bikes take them for a spin..... it'll help you decide what you want.....

I test rode RTR 160 HE few days back and I have test ridden many other 150cc bikes altogether. What I felt is it has the best throttle response and acceleration of the lot (next being FZ) but the gears were hard as rock and the bike vibrated a lot after 50. So I don't know if the vibration issue is sorted out in HE then how it was before that?

                  @ testdrive

Kindly check out the new Fazer full white edition instead of FZ, your heart will win your mind handsdown.

When you consider mileage its purely on the carb tuning and your riding skills. Almost all 150cc bikes will get you the same mileage, when used the same way.

The reason for suggesting Fazer is coz, IMO Fazer has better handing and a better riding experience over the FZ and trust me you will say WOW everytime you bend your bike to take a curve.

                    Yamaha Fz or Apache RTR.
If you want more power output then RTR will be better or else FZ is the best deal for commuters.

Yes you are wrong , though i wont recommend you the pulsar 150 , 50 km and all not at all a problem for p150 ! It can easily cruise at 80 kph without much effort and engine noise ! Instead i recommend you the pulsar 180 ! Perfect combo of power and mileage ! Refined pulsar of the lot ! Powerful than the other bikes in your list and mileage is also on par with bikes that you have mentioned ! Fz is a brilliant bike but the mileage and pillion comfort will be a big concern !
As your name suggests do a test drive and decide !

would advice you to choose between FZS, Pulsar 150 and Twister...

FZS being the best looker and best handling out of the ones you listed, only drawback, no kick but with you can get them installed from the company itself... for that they charge some... some showrooms may tell you the don't but don't believe them... look around.. if required contact yamaha helplines...

Pulsar 150 being a good package and cheap maintainability, only drawback, less reliable compared to Yamaha and Honda technology...

Twister being super fuel-efficient, but major drawback being super lean rear tire which looks too bad...

I owned a GS150R... Currently I ride the HH Hunk... I ll just say my points on the GS10R

Pros - Smooth and refined engine, smooth gear shifts, good mileage and the 6th cog.

Cons - Very minimal suzuki SVC, Bike is heavy and tall (If you are heavy and tall it will be damn fine for u), very bad resale value.

                          About other bikes,

P150 - I hate Bajaj.. Their quality sucks.. (Strictly my personal opinion)
Dazzler - Good one but I hate the looks personally..
FZ/FZ-S - If you worry about mileage then u should avoid it..
RTR 160 - Vibrates a lot and not so satisfactory quality...
SZ-R - Seems to look good... It looks to me as a gladiator with 150cc engine.
CBZ xtreme - New one looks good. You get the reliability factor

Finally its your take... Go by your heart and mind

in 150cc category i would recommend honda dazzler...it has unicorn's tested engine and honda's reliability.
else if u can wait for tvs velocity it will be a good option too

bajaj may have quality issues ,but one call to customer care will solve it all...
i own a 220 i dint find any issues since i bought the bike.it gives me a decent 45kmpl too
death is inevitable, but accidents are.

I would like to thank everyone, you people helped me lot to arrive this position.

I have done test drive with following bikes and my comments

                              1) Dazzler ( Honda dealer in Velachery to Guindy main road)
                              Pros
                              - I like the riding position.
                              - Quick response.
                              - No engine Noise.
                              - Nice/easy gear shift.
                              - Nice/good suspension.
                              - Nice front/rear breaking with disk break.

                              Cons
                              - I am not happy with looks.
                              - There is no feeling like i am riding 150 segment bike. i got same feeling as my discover 125.
                              - I have tried to change the gear to neutral. But i have done after 2 or 3 times try. I am not sure this will be a problem. this may be issue with that demo bike.
                              - After 30K/40k KM ride this bike may produce noise (Not from the engine) This is my view, i got when i did test drive.
                              - Very small digital display, i am sure we can't see any info during day time. My personal comment on this is like it is looking like a small digital wrist watch. Honda should think to increase digital display area or drop this digital display.
                              - No discounts. (i hope they will give some free accessories and insurance after a big bargain)

FZS new edition (Raj Yamaha OMR is the dealer)
                              ---------------

                              Pros
                              - Good performance/response
                              - Nice gear/shift
                              - Nice/Good suspension.
                              - Great look (i got new bike, yellow one)
                              - Nice front/rear breaking.
                              - Great display unit. nice one to see. I drove a new bike, so they have disconnected the display.

                              Cons
                              - Low Mileage 42-45 city ride (as per sales person comment)
                              - Riding position. Not like Dazzler. I hope this will not suitable for long drive.
                              - Kick start. Yamaha introduced this in new edition. but we need to fold foot rest, if we need to do kick start.
                              - Rear seat position. it's bit high. but it's some what ok to manage.
                              - Saree Guard may be not that much effective.
                              - I am not happy with color options FZS 4 colors and FZ16 only with 2 colors red and black.
                              - No discounts.
                              - Price Nearly 78K

                              Hero Honda.
CBZ/Hunk i have tried to test drive this, they said they don't have demo bike. i got this reply from 2 dealers. so i don't want to make a deal with this kind of dealers, since I am doubt about their ASS (After Sales and service).

                              Bajaj 150
Still I am not saying this is bad one. Its VFM option. since i already own a Discover 125 from bajaj family. I noticed some issues after 40K run, also i just wanted to try other options/make.

                              Suzuki 150R
Every one says it's good one. But i don't have service station near by. So i didn't even test drive this.

                              My Pick/Option/Selection
I have concluded with FZ16 red color. I am ready to compromise mileage because my heart says it's OK to have this one, so 99% i will go with my heart is that wrong ? remaining 1% is for Dazzler.

If anyone list some points/things to be noticed during buy, will help me to prepare a check list and make everything going good, and what kind of offers/discounts shall i check/ask with my dealers . Probably i will book by this week.

                              Regards,
                              TestDrive
