    Alternative to CB Shine

    Hi,
    I am going to buy a new bike. The purpose will be commuting to work and occasional touring . Expected usage is 1000Km per month covered equally by city roads and highway. I am into thirty, 175 cm tall and weigh 65kg. So riding comfort is important and mileage too (so no more than 125 cc). Style is not that important. My budget is 60k.
    Based on these I choose Honda CB Shine. But the waiting period of two months is a big let down. How is the billion riding in Shine? Is it worth a wait? What are my other options? Passion pro was also in my radar before I decided on Shine.
    Help me out guys!!!

        I would go with the above but the P135 would be uncomfortable for you given that your height is 175cm. I heard that the gladiator/SS has been stopped (Not sure about it). Otherwise the gladiator fits the bill. Take the D135 or slingshot as alternatives

          Discover 135 is no more in the market..! Go for Gladiator ss 125..! Rides like 150cc bike , mileage 50-55 kmpl..! Shine can fetch you around 60-62 kmpl but SS125 with added 5th gear , can cruise on highway with minimal vibrations..!

            you can also look for yamaha SZ-series considering it price and power delivery.

                But he won't be opposed to a 150cc if it's reliable, stylish, frugal and costs about the same...

                Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R is a good alternative to the Shine. My vote for SZ-R.
                Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

                  You can go for Discover 125/ Yamaha SS125. Discover 125 returns better mileage and is a proven bike. Yamaha SS125 is better for touring, but again if mileage is a concern then you are better off with Discover 125. Both these bikes are much better compared to Shine, as they don't vibrate at 60+ speeds, they are very good at handling & breaking. I guess Discover is something like 54k on road & Yamaha SS125 is about 58k on road.

                        Mahajan - Trust me, I typed SZ this morning & then knocked it off since it was in 150cc. Its not that I'm against SZ or your suggestion, I was just adhering to thread starter's requirement. SZ is a good motorcycle, no doubt.

                          I understand that brother...but being a responsible member of the xbhp community I feel that we should give a true opinion to those seeking help and make them aware of the potential advantages and disadvantages..

                          I just wanted the thread starter to understand that a 150cc bike does not mean that it will have a bad fuel efficiency. 150cc are better suited for cruising and are good for commuting too. If the cost is in budget and there is not much difference in the fuel efficiency, why not get a 150cc instead ??

                          I still vote for SZ / Discover 150. Rest is up to the buyer.

                            Even the Discover 125 comes with 5 gears, so there shouldn't be any problem with cruising (may be not at those speeds Disco 150 is capable of!). And I think Yamaha SS125 comes with 5 gears. Besides TS can get good FE by limiting himself to 125cc and one more point is that he need not stretch his budget to accomodate possible 150cc options. Funny enough, Shine just about manages to overstep the 60k mark in some cities , where as Disco 125/Yamaha SS125 fall within budget.

                              My opinion is to wait for Shine, 2 months will fly pass, if you want then you can get a second hand bike till that time to complete your need.

                              Your own bike selection is spot on! Shine is one of the best 125 CC bike present, ultra smooth engine, Honda Reliability, low maintenance, perfect city bike, comfortable for pillion, excellent mileage.

                              Shine is worth a wait if its waiting is just 2 months.
