As far as avenger is concerned it might have some quality issues so if you are choosing it be cautious about that...where as we all know the great quality of Honda and Royal enfield...so consider the quality aspect as well..

Try the Pro Biking showroom in Gandhinagar, Adyar.

They allow you to Test ride an avy on a simulator and on road.

Test Rode one today, was completely blown off by the power available, will be buying one shortly. The on road price for Avy 220 is Rs.83821/- in Chennai

If CBR is affordable, then why not also try Bullet 500 Classic?? its a real gem.
else you can always go for TB.

Went for the Test Drives today!!!

Today I tried to test drive all the bikes in Contention!!!

First went to KUN Honda for the CBR 250R, but unfortunately the test Bike was in the Irrungatukotai Racetrack for the Chennai Leg of the Asian GP. The dealer promised me that if I came back on Monday he would have the test bike ready for me.

Then I crossed the Road to Bajaj Pro Biking and asked for an Avenger Test Drive and he said they don't have a bike for test drive, so I asked him to let me try the simulator and then he said that they had power issues and the simulator would not work. The attitude of the guy wasn't as if he wanted to sell a bike to me.

At Last went to the RE Showroom and had to wait for 15 mins before a sales person could help me. When I told him I was looking at the Thunderbird, the first thing he did was give me the Bike keys and asked me to go out for a drive and come back. No accompaniment just you and the bike. And to tell you the truth now I know why RE is legendary I am now completely hooked onto the bike and will most surely be going for the Thunderbird.

                Great Sales Techniques Royal Enfield!!!

RE TBTS - Good choice or not?

                  Hi Josh,

I must say you have made a great choice. I too own a TBTS since Feb 2011 and have clocked 6500 in last 6 months out of which 6000 have been in last 4 months as my daily commute is around 70 kms.

You wouldn't get the back pain issue unless you tinker around much with the seat (which, sadly, I did...but now going back to normal). Try to hang on to the original TBTS seat as long as possible. The seat foam quality in the new REs is not that great (holds on to water for long, so watch your pants in the rainy season, esp. the behinds and the undersides) but will last you long enough. Always prefer a harder foam which will get softer with time and will conform to the shape of your butt over a period of time.

As far as maintenance is concerned, I have been to the service centre for the regular services only and once on a non-regular visit to get the silencer gasket changed, which incidentally got burned as it became loose due to multiple after market silencer trials (it's mostly us who bring about these issue due constant modifications attempts).

It all depends how you care about your bike. After almost 6 months of usage I can assure that the current REs with the UCE engines are much more user friendly as far as riding is concerned.

And what an RE will offer you in terms of road presence...I don't think I need to say anything about that. Only another beast on road is given way and thats the Harley.

                  Wish you happy tripping!!

Depends on what seating position you like. Since I ride a cbr250r abs, I can vouch for the comfort and the refinement of the bike. A great machine made by Honda. Try to get the abs version though. It is a life saver. Worth spending extra 20-30K on it.

CBR 250 is not available anymore. Honda has discontinued it without announcing any successor!

You've been saying that since 2016 mate. Full marks for persistence. [emoji106]

What I've heard is that Honda is making the CBR250 BSIV ready.

They are selling 100-300 CBR every month, why on earth would they stop?

This will take some time. Maybe 2-3 months as per the dealership for the new models to come, but they are coming for sure.

Huh? Here is what my statement was based on -

                              1. Honda India does not have CBR on their products page anymore - https://www.honda2wheelersindia.com/products/motorcycle
                              2. Bikewale shows CBR 250 as discontinued - https://www.bikewale.com/honda-bikes/cbr250/
                              3. It was discussed here itself xBHP that CBR250RR won't be launched in India. - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/354...ing-india.html

It would be nice if they come up with something to replace CBR 250 in India, but no such announcement from Honda so far. They seem to be happy with Activa & commuter bike sales.

Let's see what they come up with in the next few months, I would be glad if there is a new offering in 250-300 cc segment by Honda.
