  • R15 v2.0 or wait ?

As the title suggests, I am confused whether to go ahead with R15 v2.0 or play the waiting game for a better option.

I currently own a ZMR which is more of a daily ride for me and currently looking for fun to ride bike for solo weekend rides. Since the time I have owned the RX 135, I have been smitten by Yamaha bikes. Unfortunately no real good bikes from their stable until 2009 made me choose other options like HH. Now with R15 v2.0, I am in a situation where mind says wait while heart says go for it. Is there any chance of a Yamaha 250 cc coming in the near future ? I am willing to wait if that is a possibility.

Another confusion is about the size of the bike. I haven't seen the bike in flesh yet as the dealer here doesn't have one even for display. I am 6'2 so if the bike is similar to v 1.0 in terms of size, it would really look puny. Would appreciate inputs from members who have seen it in flesh.

So the big question is to wait for a Yamaha 250 or go ahead

Isaiah 40:31 : But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength

If you cannot wait, add a little $$$ & go for C250R or add some more for N250R.

If you cannot stretch $$$ further, opt for P220.

Point - You already have a ZMA under 20ps, so opt for something more than that.

        @aargee: Wow!

And yes, the new R15 will still look pretty tiny with me or the OP on it.

I am in the same ship as the OP. I have convinced myself to wait until the KTM 200 later this year or early next year.

I agree with aargee entirely about upgrading to a more powerful bike. Which is why I sold my Karizma, and am now lying in wait for the KTM 200, but if I lose patience, I might just up and book the Ninja 250, simply for the thrill of it. For someone over 6 feet, the KTM and the baby Ninja will fit just about right, but IMO, it isn't really the size of the bike that matters, its all good if the bike keeps you interested. If I look like a circus bear on a cycle when I ride my Rx-135, so what? I'm having fun and that's all that matters.

Upgrade to 25+ bhp&250+cc else its a waste of money my friend.
Don't even consider R15/P220 as they are all in the same performing band more or less.
Get a real upgrade, else wait.

for ur height u will only have handling issues with the r15. I too suggest the cbr250r or the ninja if u can extend ur wallet a bit. OR wait for the 200 duke. I heard ktm-bajaj are contemplating the super duke for india too.... so u never know. Try the wait option. better any day!

The R15 is too small for your. You wont be able to handle it as well as the ZMR. I am 6'1" and ride a ZMR. I had used my friends R15 for a while but it wasn't "fun" so I never ask them again.

If I were you, I would have upgraded to the CBR. If you have the moolah to spend or an ATM nearby

Thanks for all the inputs everyone, appreciated So R15 v2.0 is out of contention for now.

I am in no rush to get a new ride so willing to wait if there are better options in the pipeline. But the big question is, is there a possibility or even a speculation of a Yamaha 250 coming up in the next year or so as I am more keen on a Yamaha this time around.

I do like CBR 250R which would have been my first choice had I not opted for ZMR last year. Unfortunately the news about the launch of CBR came in a few months later after I got ZMR. So don't want to end up in a similar situation this time around.

I can only suggest you to wait for the upcoming auto expo'12. Yamaha gonna launch R6 and a 200-250cc in India.

This is a perfectly right advice. With the auto expo round the corner, I am sure there will be new bikes that would be launched.

But I will suggest you can try the Ninja or the CBR in fact now you don't need to wait that long for the CBR's they are available in 30 days and with right kind of talks you might get one in 4 to 5 days time too
