  • 150 cc first bike, booked dazzler but having second thoughts

    Hi,
am a college student studying final year btech.
Directly skip to the bottom para if u dont want to get bored.

having driven activa for the last 7 years finally thinking about moving on to bikes.

I tried in the 100-125cc bikes and most of them felt really uncomfortable and sluggish driving besides if i wanted an engine in tht segment would hav gone for another activa.

    Main considerations
: the bike has to be low weight, decent mileage

My interest in bikes peaked after riding a friend's karizma which inspite of being the heaviest bike i've ridden was actually quite comfortable and the mass centralization of the design was something i really liked.Yet it was still heavy and besides am not going to be needing a 220cc bike or use power to that extent.

Then i rode another friends fz and it was by far the most compact vehcle i've been on.It felt really lite and was fun to drive but the FE was a deal breaker.

We are more or less a honda family with a city and an activa so i started my bike hunt with a honda showroom looking for a unicorn. It was also on the heavier side.

Then saw the dazzler it looked terrible, but looks were never a priority and it fits my basic expectations to some extent though not as much as fz barring the FE part. Its just my opinion but honda's three releases twister, stunner and dazzler all look really terrible like some plastic toys for giants...also their names twister??(toaster mixie?) stunner?(chokeslam anyone?)dazzler???

but like i said looks dont matter that much.So I booked a silver dazzler(coz that's the only shade that isn't included in twister!!)

on my bike hunt i've gone to yamaha, tvs and bajaj showrooms as well.My brother has an apache 180 and i sat on apache once and hated it.Maybe i judged it harshly.

Bajaj pulsars i was never interested in but still gave them a try.

I am not looking for some kind of fancy pick up figures or power vehicles so apache and pulsar wer just half hearted considerations from the begining.

it took me a couple of days to find a suzuki two wheeler showroom in my city, and when i did there was one guy in the entire showroom and he made me wait until a gs150r customer comes to service his bike so i can get a look,my father found it funny. On a side note i thought suzuki gs150r bike was the best looking of all i've seen.It has a class abt itself.

It might sound really silly but i have spent a lot of time looking from one bike to another and then dropped the idea of a bike for a while then with dassera season it picked up again .So we booked dazzler about two weeks ago since it was a silver color one had a waiting period of one month.

In this one month i asked my activa mechanic if he gets a lot of dazzlers he said he gets them rarely and i asked why and he said its a flop bike.Even the showroom ppl wer more interested in selling the twister and they didnt even give me a test drive on dazzler there was only one showpiece.

I very rarely find these bikes on roads and my father said the same.If i get one mine will be the only dazzler in our college parking lot!!

although the exclusivity is tempting i am worried that the spare part availability in future will be a big pain in the ass.besides if u search dazzler on google you'll mostly get consumer forum sites!!(althought that's also how i found this really wonderful site ).

The lack of kick rod is another big issue.

I want to hear the opinions of seasoned dazzler owners of their post-purchase experience of this bike.

    Main Use

daily college commuting where ill have to go through some really bad roads with many 'man made' spead breakers potholes and badly finished roads.A long streach of decent road with semi congested traffic.Another streach of super congested traffic.

Weekly trips on the highway where i may hav to rev the engine really hard and i hav no interest in stunts or racing.meaningless power not required.

Should i wait for Hero Impulse?
it is supposedly only 120kgs and has honda's tech so should have decent reliability.

Dazzler is not good looking?? You sure mate?? I & others, surely, find the design to be good for a 150 CC bike. You get a monoshock & other stuff & loosely inpired front from CBR!! Honda has been known to be makers of quality product. Do not expect a performance of that of Pulsar but it's not going to be a sluggish too. Dazzler is a good bike even for going on long distance trip.

dazzler is a good choice but from what i know and heard the new FZ (which has come with some engine tuning) has better mileage!!
Our bikes can go from 0 - Stupid in less than "I wonder if this will be a good idea"

The dazzler has those Love it or Hate looks. Personally, I don't like the way it looks, I think it looks like it came out form a transformers(robot) backside. Have you considered the pulsar 135, its quite a light and nimble bike and has good performance. The downside is that it has quite a sporty riding position and your dad may not feel comfortable on it.

Seems like you are utterly confused .Dont worry Dazzler is a very good product and a Honda. One of our 5 guys to Leh was riding dazzler and being a 150 cc had very few problems.Though GSR makes sense for your Dad because of tall comfortable seating but its tad too slow .
Dazzler has mono-shock which is very good, does a 0-100 kmph in good time ,looks very good (AFAIK) and gives a healthy mileage.
You will face more problems with Suzuki's service than Honda's .Kick rod is not a big issue .It started despite very low temperatures with low battery .

                Hero Impulse for your Dad

looks are subjective. Some people think it looks really good. While some others think its twister's identical twin.
And seriously, there's nothing wrong with Dazzler. Its got a good reliable engine with some performance, mono suspension, tubeless tyres, insane mileage, and even a rear disc. You'll fall in love with its gearshifts.
