1) There are 3 models listed on the TVS site: RTR 160 FI, RTR 160 and RTR 160 refresh. What are differences among these?
man rtr fi has got fuel injection wich increases the fuel effciency,
apache rtr and rtr refresh are same and the only difference is the scoops on the fuel tank of rtr refresh.
no its not that really bad and if feel its not upto the marj then u can switch to other company tyres.Originally posted by chauhan_saurabh View Post2) I read on the same forum about the tyre quality of RTR which is not as good as other bikes in the segment, is that so? Are they really bad?
see this for better undestanding:Originally posted by chauhan_saurabh View Post3) Getting a deal of 1 year old RTR 160. Is it a wise decision to go for this bike and what are the things I should check in that before buying it?
Thanks,
Saurabh

as far as the quality of the RTR/RTR FI goes they don't have any such issues............
apart from the tyres,as said by mr puneet too, yes they dont perform good in wet but on dry they're awesome............there's no issues in the bike,no service problem no engine issues nothing.............
and it'll provide you more bangs per buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for how many bucks you're gettin the used RTR and how much kms it logged?????????????????The Magician"

For last 1/2 weeks I have been reading/researching about bikes/scoots available. It's still undecided but I learnt somethign which I want to share here and get comments about. I had two problems to sort out:
1) Which type of vehicle I want (125/150CC bike or a 100/125 Scoot)? Still not clear
2) Which models to target in these categories?
Let me take these categories and my learnt facts:
1) 100/125CC Scoots:
-- Honda scoots are best and has best maintenability.
-- Suzuki access can compete with Hondas but too much wait time.
-- Yamaha is also planning to launch scoots in 125/150cc range -- saw pics and those are cool looking. Lost the link
, but as I remember these scoots are already in Europe. Buy Yamaha, Auto Finance Yamaha, Insurance - MaxAbout.com
-- Also Bajaj Blade can be expected soon.
125CC bikes
-- Flame and Stunner CBF are best looking but I don't like both(totally personal pref)
-- Gladiator and Shine could be better buys over Stunner/Flame/Discover(/XCD)
-- Does not a have a real good product which has the best of all the world.
150CC bikes:
-- Finally I found 3 bikes suited/fitted for me (for a small built like me, mostly commuter and rare biking on highways)
-- Options I pondered on: P150, R15, FZ16, RTR (w or w.o. FI), Unicorn, GS150R(yet to check)
-- My last 3 choices are RTR(with old looks if they are providing it), FZ 16 and Unicorn
-- Why?
-- RTR - I feel really good biking it because of it being smaller as compared to others in all the dimensions. Feel more in control on this bike.
-ves: not sure of the build quality of TVS, though I read really good words on this and other forums.
Concerns over the tyre grip on the wet road which is so common in BLR.
-- FZ 16 - another bike which suited my height. In my opinion the best looking bike in India. FYI: I like naked bikes, used to love P150 original one. I loved the tyres though and can expect really good grip on the road of any quality.
-ves: As mentioned repeatedly on this forum, after a visit to showroom here I can confirm:
-- really weak looking handle, not sure if it can be as strong as it is meant to be.
-- paint on the alloy wheels is gross as per the first look -- not even as good as on XCD125. Can't say about the absolute quality.
-- Pillion seat is really small -- only your GF can accompany you and that too only astride.
-- Missing kick for a drained battery which seems to be common with this bike
-- Unicorn: Overall the best bike. Gets almost all the thing for you.
--ves: Plain old looks -- but I find pure black one good enough.
Lacks new features you get in newer bikes -- digital speedo, tubeless.
Last but not the least -- I still need to check on GS150R if it is available for a show or test drive in BLR.Last edited by chauhan_saurabh; 11-17-2008, 04:00 AM.

Correct Ansh. RTR is the top in my list rightnow. But would like to go for carb since FI doesn't have right maintenance staff everywhere + the long waiting time.
FZ16 I would like to have second thoughts or wait for sometime as there are at least some things which I don't see at par in terms of quality with other bikes. Still it is 2nd in my list.
Other options are just Unicorn(pure black one) and Suzuki GS150R(if it is really feature laden and rock solid).

yeah there are some issues which i heard from the apache dealer when i bought my bike...i heard there not many experts to repair or handle the fi system/ECu of the new model and yeah the fuel should have minimum of 4ltrs of petrol in it or it'll caese to start or run and the rear brake may also give jerks .....Originally posted by chauhan_saurabh View PostCorrect Ansh. He has come down by a couple of thousands from 50, as it does not have insurance as of now.Originally posted by haxor View Postbargain with the dealer.....he should bring the price to 43-46k
