^^ So I read from Pete's manual. Says chain needs to be removed.

PS - I have a TB under me right now from a friend, and guess I am loving it. Pretty screwed up piece, bent left peg and crash-guard, keyholes not working as they should. The guy can't get enough time off work to take care of the baby. Now even I want to try out an Electra myself as well before getting the ZMA. Who knows.

The Electra is my favorite amonst the bullet models. It s got the British cast iron Engine with a CDI that increses it's reliabilty quotient by a lot yet keeping classic brit thumper feel which the newer RE engines are loosing as they evolve.

YamT, which one would you prefer as a tourer: 4S or 5S?

EDIT: Almost a day riding the TB and I guess I'm REALLY loving it! Not the mechanical clatter of the engine or the strange whirring noise when I release the clutch. Or the wobble in the front at turns. Just enjoying the planted feel of the bike on roads. Might be taking it out for a spin on the NH. Something burning is smelling from the engine and the bend pipe looks corrorded and fumes after stopping the bike. Hope not to get stranded alone.

As a tourer a 5S surelly the tall gearing the 5th cog will be great to cruise. Also the gears will be on the right and the brake to the right like a normal bike on the 5S which means even lesser time getting used to the bullet. I personally prefer the 4S though simply cos i love the classic bullet type gear/brake setup and that handy neutral lever. Just my eccentricites the 5s is more practical. The rattle you are hearing on the TB is a charecteristic of that A350 engine (I am assuming it's not a TBTS) and you will not hear this rattle on the Cast Iron engined electra it's a lot smoother if you keep your tappets in adjusted. All the best with the TB you re riding nowadays

My short stint with the non-TS Thunderbird is over now and I am already missing the bike. Damn, the RTR feels awkward after riding that humungous metal heap! And I'm kicking away at the gear lever now thanks to the experience, instead of the short shift of toe required.

I am already on a hunt for a used Bullet now, since Karizma-R is looking attractive no more, but don't have much time OR options, since bike has to be bought on 9th itself. As per Bullet showroom, Electra 4S would take 20 days, Std 350 is available now and 5S too. I was thinking of 4S + disc setup, but it comes to same as a 5S, which is WAY off my budget. Someone please tell me how does a 350 + Auto Escorts points replacement kit works towards improving reliablility of the ride.

If you do decide on a std 350 are you planning a disk setup on it?? If so it would be really awesome. Wish i could throw some on your Auto Escorts points question. I dunno as I had the ELectra with a electronic Ignition.

How much should I pay for a March 2008 Electra 4S, without disc brakes? It's the only one I could find in recent times.

Has to be a Royal Enfield but which one ???

Hey guys, I have too been bit by the bullet bug and so have decided to go for one.
Had paid a visit to the enfield showroom for details but the thing that saddened me was that they said that the minimum time for thunderbird would be 6 months and classic and electra would be 8 to 10 months due to overbooking + underproduction.
So decided to go for a second hand.
Went to a few dealers, mechanics and looked all over the internet .
Finally came across a few and they are as follows :-
1)91 model classic, price 55k.(need some work).
                        2)95 model classic, price 58k.( ll ).
3)06 model 4s, price 70k. (Seems to be good).
4)08 end Model TBTS, 70K.(Seemed good but requires battery work).

Help me decide among them and if you can source other good ones for me them would be really greatful.

                            need information on used bullet

                            hi folks,
i am a newbie here and want some advice on which bullet to buy
my budget is 50-65k and so i am looking for a used bullet in bangalore.
                            my options are
                            1) buy 1990s standard and get it overhauled
                            2) go for 2006+ models
                            3) get a bullet from my hometown as it is cheaper there than in bangalore
but it involves a lot of paperwork
As i am a student my budget is restricted to 60k and have got bitten by this bullet bug.
people in bangalore have been quoting very high prices even for old models
so please if any bulleteers can advice me what should i do?
