Anyways upon the service engineers recommendation a total overhaul was done, engine rebored etc at once for about 14k and now he has no issues, bike is like a new one and gives around 40km/l mileage.

Sorry dude, no offence meant, he did spend like 2-5k each service for about 2 or 3 times (yeah, he never used to give the bike to service on time, the bike would run anywhre around 100km a day so once in 2-3 month service ment 7K km+) and since it was one or the other part which was worn out due to my friends negligence and on part of SVC not to change the small thing at regular interval in advance he always ended up paying more and he never bothered or got it checked with any local mechanic .. Wht i learnt from this was it dont matter how many days, the kilometers and riding conditon matter, and even if going to service once every month is a pain we need to do it for the better life of the bike.Originally posted by vrugonnab View Post

Well, I did ride lot of other bikes, but owned only P135LS. With my limited riding experience, Pulsars were the most impressive.Originally posted by prajnyan View PostYou seem like you have never had any other bike other than the pulsar. I agree that Bajaj bikes are at par with any other bikes of same category. Although except few drawbacks which any bikes can have like the hard seats on P135 I dont know of any major issue which would make anyone say don't buy Bajaj especially for what price he gives you the bike.

Dude, Bajaj spares are the cheapest and easily found. Regarding rusting, my Karizma has rust deposits in almost all the screws holding the fairing. So, don't just judge the quality that way. Bajaj products are inferior in no way...Originally posted by anandsharma021 View PostQuality of bajaj is not even at par with any honda, suzuki or even HH motorcycles. for example- chain life, timing chain life, engine noice(after 1 year of usage), finishing of product, durability of parts, silencer rusting issues.............. But still there was silencer rusting, front shocker leakage, oil leakage from head(top) of engine, timing chain noice and few more.
Even those who are using current crop of platina and pulsars are saying them chinese. You can easily hear timing chain noice of bajaj motorcycles after few thousand kms.
Even I want to buy bajaj products because it is and Indian company. But they are changing models like anything and cannot even maintain spare for them.
+1 bro.... Pulsar spares are readily available and cheap... Whereas for Hero/Honda, you need to wait for a considerable amount of time and they cost a bomb.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostTS.. big sorry for going OT, but posts like this often get better of me
Pulsars only got better with time. I don't understand where you got this engine noise thingy, and what's that got to do with quality of the bike. It depends on how you maintain a bike.
Rusting is prevalent in all bikes, don't believe me? just look around, you will find even Karizma's with rusting silencer.........since you mentioned about spares, Bajaj spares for current models are available everywhere, if your model of Discover is discontinued, that's another story. Just compare cost of discpads of Unicorn, with that of Pulsar. You will know why maintaining Pulsar is so light on pocket.
Now that's a valid reason. We shouldn't blame machines. Due to a few negligent riders, Bajaj gets bad name...Originally posted by prajnyan View PostYou seem like you have never had any other bike other than the pulsar. It was pure decision of what was good at that point, nothing to do with Bajaj or quality.
+1.... Couldn't agree more.... Cheers....Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostWell, I did ride lot of other bikes, but owned only P135LS. With my limited riding experience, Pulsars were the most impressive.
