and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

I don't think rtr is a very good bike for begineer, i know it's light and handles well but it's acceleration can scare a begineer(especially rtr180). I think fz is your best bet. Trust me it looks heavy but it isn't. Me and my 2 friends learnt riding in fz and we never had any trouble with it.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postif i were in your place i would have put my money in rtr 160/180.TVS Apache 200 RTR 4v (2019-Forever)

Since you are a college student do not buy Fz. Only buy it if you feel adding huge tyre for a 150cc bike is cool.
Also get to know about its low FE & high spares etc. And if you don't like slingshot dont go for it. Nobody likes it.
I own a Stunner. If you love half-fairing (like me) go for Stunner. Mileage is not great but looks cool and is very comfortable and refinement is top of the stack.
If you have a performance thrust inside you do not miss Pulsar 135LS. Its the best bike in your range and unmatchable combination of Mileage+Performance. P135 owners are the most satisfied of the lot.
Test ride them all and see what you like, budget, mileage etc.
Also checkout Honda Shine. Superb buy for a college goer.Last edited by Enthusiastic; 03-03-2012, 03:36 PM.Whats there in a signature?

when stunner was launched i fell in love with it,but honda would have done justice if it had a 150 cc heart.now stunner looks over-priced and is likely to be phased out soon.p135 works out to be a vfm.Originally posted by Enthusiastic View PostI own a Stunner. p.s.fz is harmless for a beginner.and the question remains why do i race?

In my opinion you should go for FZ.... as you are a college student your bike should also have great looks which fz has the most from the other bikes + it isnt heavy at all..... my friend bought his Fazer as his first bike with 0 gear vehicle exp. like you but in a month or so he has perfected it..... so in my opinion go for FZ .......

@coolsidharth : correct me if i am wrong , doesn't FZs loose their initial feel after some time? And i don't feel FZ to be that powerful and i think its too costly?~::.Outrun By No-One.::~

FZ has enough power & torque for a 150cc bike. Do think about FE as well, you are still a college goer and FZ isn't great on mileage, it's below average on this aspect. Best option for you would be P135LS, you wouln't miss performance and at the same time you can expect 50+ mileage. I wouldn't recommend Shine/Stunner, they vibrate a lot once you are past 60kmph mark on speedo. May be you can take a look at Yamaha SS125, which is another very good bike in 125cc category.Originally posted by paradox View Post@coolsidharth : correct me if i am wrong , doesn't FZs loose their initial feel after some time? Let me make it simple -
P135 - faster than the FZ/FZs/Stunner from 0-60 kmph
P135 - Greater top speed than the FZ/FZs/Stunner
P135 - Better fuel economy compared to the FZ/FZs on par with the Stunner
P135 - Cheaper than the the FZ/FZs/Stunner on road
P135 - Cost of Spares/Maintenance is lower than the FZ/FZs/Stunner
P135 - More fun/lower running costs compared to the the FZ/FZs/Stunner

Completely agree with all the points, Is the bold part still true? I mean especially cheaper than stunner part, coz I believe P135LS is somewhere around 67k OTR in Bangalore, is Stunner costlier than that. Correct me if i'm wrong, I'm out of country for a while, so quite possible that I got outdated info on prices!Originally posted by sunny27 View PostLet me make it simple -

Regarding FZ
I own FZ from last one year (Meter Reading - 2400 km). Let me tell you my opinion about this:
Likes:
1 - Looks - Believe it or not.. but FZ will always be a head-turner.
2 - Balance
3 - Decent Mileage (for me)
4 - Yamaha services and quality
5 - Best for city riding with good accel and quickness.
Dislikes:
1 - Seat - Very uncomfortable for me after you drive it for an hour or so.
2 - My mother can't sit comfortably on the back seat of this bike as it is very short.
Regarding Pulsars, they are fine for 1-2 years, but after that you will feel lots of vibrations and this is not the bike you can keep for 4-5 years. Bajaj quality still needs improvements.
Go for Honda Stunner as you will feel that they give importance to quality.
Conclusion : I would suggest don't go for FZ. Go for a bike you can keep for few years and should have a good milage. Happy Riding. Also, I used to own Honda Activa myself but it was very uncomfortable for my legs as I am 6ft 1 and weight 85kg.
Note - I am planning to sell this bike and will buy Royal Enfield TBTS.
