Strange as it may seem, I recommend a ZMA for the purpose, after thinking of course!

R15 is just great, if you can do with a bit Tiring Riding Position ... which is neither commuter nor Tourer favorite ...

AVOID P220, Lots of issues. Engine running Lean = Over-Heat, Vibration, Reliability issues, etc.

Conclude: In any case, it boils down to ZMA & maybe R15 ... If your budget allows, you may wait for Ninja 250 or updated Karizma ...

^^ He has said his budget at the most is till an R15. Ninja will be a lot lot more. And one question:- do you own a 220?

@Saji_rossi: If I were you, I would take a test ride of each first.

I think 'Samarath' is having some personal prob. with R15 I hv not rode P220 so no comments on that byke but I hv rode Karizma enough...If a person who doesn't mind spending money for a right/good technology and ready to compromise on milage the right byke for him as of now is R15...

P220 is superb in terms of ..
            Braking
            Acceleration
Torquey at low and high rpm's
            cheap spares

although there's this luck factor, john (xbhp johnblr)'s P220 had issues with the electrical system, some others had issues as well.

although its far better than ZMA in terms of performance but reliability is an issue.
but the spares of the ZMA are grossly expensive, P220 is much cheaper to run.

as for the R15, i dont think you'd like the initial pickup since the p180 is a very good signal to signal bike, with good initial acceleration, (refer torque at lower rpm's) R15 needs to be ridden hard to utilise the torque which is at higher RPM's

BEST BET :- TEST RIDE for a good distance, in the city as well as highways, 9ask your friends etc)

Buddy , if i could put it this way , iv done all terrains on all the 3 bikes mentioned above.
All the bikes have the capability to do what u want.

Its about the rider and not the ride.

Each one has its good's and bad's.
U wont get the best of 3 bikes in any ..

Just add a 4th to ur list rtr fi is good.

                Oh btw

R15 is just great, if you can do with a bit Tiring Riding Position ... which is neither commuter nor Tourer favorite ...
which is proven wrong by santoosh saar , he's doing tooo many tours (long ones) ever since he has the R15 in possession

                FYI

the R15 is not tiring , im 5'10 and i didnt need ANY adjustment to the body when i rode the R15 for a short duration, it was perfect. i just need to have my R15 (which is coming in the first week next month) to do a long tour and tell the reports.

actually the above post has a very good point in it. you cant have everything at one go. something has to be compromised.

Happy hunting for your bike !

I have ridden the 3 listed bike and own a P220.
P220 is a superb bike mate in terms of power as compared to Zma and R15.
But I think ZMA will suit you best as per your requirement. Don't go for R15, if you can wait then go for Ninja 250R.

i would say ZMA will be a better option than p220. R15 is a class of its own, mainly for city riding, but yes can be taken for long rides too.
or else if you can wait for some time, wait for apache menace. it should be out soon before ninja for sure.

Ninja 250- i think wl be arround 2L. so outa budget.moreover no one knows when its coming. n cant think of taking it 2 PBK for servicing. If they r havin a hard time wid pulsars then ....

Test rode both the P220 and ZMA.(For around 10kms). Liked the P220 more.Gives more input to the rider.ZMA was simply isolating me from everythin.too sedate. Not for me.

R15..test rides not available at "Overconfident??" YAMAHA.
Bt a nice stranger allowed a few seconds on his R.
wl riding position nt at all a problem for me.neway i like to crouch.
my only apprehension abt it is the thin tires.
I know it will grip and grip more, but wat abt taking in potholes outa nowhere at 100 kmph. ppl ne experience....

P220 have more power and torque than R15. But R15 leads in look than P220. Thin tyres is not any problem.

u just need to get the correct riding posture on the R15. I have done a good number of long rides on the bike and the position is absolutely no problem... if at all there is a problem with it, it is in the stop & go city traffic where u continuously need to adjust ur position.

Potholes out of nowhere at the ton mark... hit many of them... even speed breakers... no issues! only once there was a very dangerous pothole in a slope with sharp edges and I hit that at around 95kmph... got a slightly bent rear alloy but I drove all the way over 200 kms to my destination without any sort of an issue.

You mean this??? spotted last week in Hyderabad. doesn't seem to have the accesories of RTR 160... not sure if the engine belly would make it to the production model...

Is that just a modded Apache or has it been confirmed to be the new 'Menace'..?
The fairing looks like an aftermarket add-on...
