Smooth sedate touring or revving or ripping your way to the redline.?
Both bikes have different natures and are meant to be enjoyed in different settings.
I too had booked the Electra but after taking a ride of RTR 180 (my current ride), i decided to go for it as that is what i want in this phase of life. the bullet too may come when my needs change. so assess that and ride both before deciding.
Good luck!

- Daily commuting about 40 kms in bangalore traffic
- Touring once or twice in a month
- Sometimes need to tour with pillon - R15 has a disadvantage here
- Heard that for Royal enfield maintenance is more and it has lot of minor issues. My colleague who owns RE says not to go for it as he had lot of troubles
- looking for good road grip, breaks etc.
- I have feeling that RE may trouble after couple of years due to its maintenance
Personally i just love R15 but the only -ve factor is pillon seat and i am 6ft height not sure if R15 suits me. and as far as RE concerned 8 months are too long to wait and also getting feedback like if we buy RE we will have to live with the minor troubles etc..
Both bikes have their advantages and disadvantages here what i am unable to decide which exactly to opt

I am exactly in the same position as you. Riding a Discover in Bangalore for 45 Km everyday. Tour once or twice a month. Sometimes with pillion. Booked a Thunderbird 350 and the waiting period does not seem to end. Now looking for an alternate bike. Exact same situation. I have 3 bikes in mind. RTR 180, ZMR and P200NS. Think about them.2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

@rarish :Than zmr zma would be a good choice look at the zma vs zmr thread why i am saying this you would get an answer
@ discover : given your requirement why not choose something from hero moto corp or hmsi given your requirement no doubt R15 will be a great package fits all your requirement except for pillion seat ; if you can extend your budget then go for cbr it is the best package IMOLast edited by raja_roadster; 02-15-2012, 06:38 PM.

in my view you should choose from following options>
1.zma-tried and tested tourer, comfortable riding position for both rider and pillion, good mileage, only con is costly spare.
2.p200ns-killer looks and killer price[expected],new tech, raw power, bajaj claimed mileage of 55kmpl if ridden constantly at 60 kmph, pillion seat a bit high, only con is this is yet to be launched ,so better wait and watch for the issues in first batch.
3.rtr-if possible with abs,raw power, sharp handling, constant mileage around 42,assured safety with abs, cons are vibes[i am not bothered with vibes],forward biased riding position[need time to get used to,although i love sporty riding position]
4.gs 150 r[i consider it vfm]-constant mileage around 50 if ridden sedately, looks fresh with facelift, priced reasonably,6 th gear and rock solid straight line stability for highways, cons are -feels heavy at parking speed, lacks acceleration a bit due to weight.
i won't rather put money on r15 if i ride with pillion regularly, cbr 's fairings and road presence can be pain in the ass in the traffics,re has serious reliability issues.

As you're 6 feet tall, r15 surely isn't for you. Enfield is a great bike. You buy a bullet only if you love it or else you'll be complaining about it's minor problems. You could also consider zmr/zma, which i think will suit your requirements perfectly!TVS Apache 200 RTR 4v (2019-Forever)

ZMA : i have not considered this bcos of its thin rear tyre. from the front it looks awesome..
p200ns: I personally do not like the pulsars.. my bro too suggested not to go for this
rtr - problem with sitting position and not great looks..
gs 150 r - dont know much abt this particular bike
These points are in my view.. no offense.. this why i shortlisted 2 bikes that R15 and RE

@w4warrior thanks for the reply , if R15 doesn't suit to me then only thing i am willing to buy is RE. i am not considering ZMR bcos of its thin tyre.. from back it doesn't look great... and i doubt about its road grip bcos of thin tyre

@rharish Thanks for the reply, at the same time i want the bike to be a head turner i dont think RTR 180 or ZMR will do that.. for P200NS need to wait but personally i dont like pulsarsOriginally posted by rharish90 View PostI am exactly in the same position as you. ZMA : i have not considered this bcos of its thin rear tyre. from the front it looks awesome..
thin rear tyres are for mileage and adequate traction.
p200ns: I personally do not like the pulsars.. my bro too suggested not to go for this
will you care to explain why this particular hatred for pulsars?
rtr - problem with sitting position and not great looks..
rtr in white looks great,if you have problem with its sitting position then how come you shortlisted r15?
gs 150 r - dont know much abt this particular bike
you shuld know about this all-rounder

@Sayank10... i chose R15 bcos of its great looks, handling and its a head turner.. but ZMR, RTR and Pulsers you can find many on roadOriginally posted by sayank10 View Postmy words are in blue,i wonder if you have made it hard for yourself buy choosing not so similar segment rides.
i want the bike which is rarely seen on the road
( in my budget of 1.4lks) thats one of the reason i shortlisted R15 and RE

Nothing offensive to you or R15... but today you find nearly equal no. of R15, ZMR and less of RE on road (because of the fear of probable high maintenance) ... thats my observation in Pune and doesnt necessarily hold true always...Originally posted by discover View Post@Sayank10... i chose R15 bcos of its great looks, handling and its a head turner.. but ZMR, RTR and Pulsers you can find many on road

My 2 cents... buy the bike whos looks you like.. the moment you stride and ride a bike that you love .. people would turn and see... because you will ride it in a way no other person would... A bike is as beautiful as the rider wants it to be,..
