I don't think so. Its unique and classy naked style .
Efi also looks gud but not upto mark like FZ.
No war but I think majority like FZ in matter of look than efi.

wanna buy a punny looking, rattling tvs bike or a gorgeous yammie??

tvs bike dont last, they are no way close to yamaha... just park a RTR next to Fz and ride both of them, you will make your decision

But it sure is more fun to see the rattling puny bike kick the other gorgeous puny bike's backside off in a drag/trafficlight motogp/topspeed run!

PS: I'm just curious how do you know the longevity of a brand new launched bike??
I'm sure you must have some data saying that the a particulay FZ160 has outlasted an RTR160??:

@shark80 - Yes, yamaha is yamaha - Can't be compared to TVS.
But agree to haxor , different people , different choice - But a FZ is unique in style , efi is nowhere close in matter of looks to FZ.

I dont think the OP mentioned a puny looking rattling TVS bike as one of his choices , he did infact mention a very good looking (in its own right), fast and sharp handling one.

Thats ok.... every bike can last for 150km per day riding for a couple of years.... but what I think is the yamaha quality will outlast anything in the market....

Let there be more owner reviews and comparisons between FZ and RTR and then we can come to a conclusion. But as of now(after riding my pal's FZ around 300-400km) according to me.... its not a close call between the FZ n RTR, the FZ is far ahead when you compare seating comfort, suspension package, engine smoothness, build quality...... etc., and when you take all these into consideration and the cost of the bikes.... the FZ should come out as a clear winner.
Am not saying RTR is a bad bike(nor is it bad looking), but then when you compare it to a new bike which has its novelty value..... RTR falls back.... today RTR is seen almost everywhere and FZ is not... tomorrow FZ will be everywhere and nobody would be interested to give it a see, it happened with CBZ/ZMA, then with the Pulsars..... and then the R15.... it has to happen.

depends upon the taste of the consumer .....if he like FZ buy it if he like RTR then buy it...no confusion whatsoever..

                        If wishes were horses, then..............

agreed that RaTtleR has numbers on his side, but never will the little fella be given the chance to look back cause the gorgeous yammie will stick to the little fellas tail chasing him and zeroing in like a wild bull

The name is YAMAHA.... they last long, really long
also because of the built quality, there is nothing that makes noise... and moreover one wouldnt bet against a yamaha for longevity... (I hope they last long)

Frankly, RTR is the next best thing or maybe better, prorities and comfort take the center stage when one looks to buy a commuting machine. Either ways, RaTtleR or Gorgeous Yammie... customer is the winner here

I wonder if the guy who started this thread got his query solved. He hasn't posted since some time now.

From Apache RTR vs Yamaha FZ 16 it's become RTR lovers vs FZ lovers. Comparision is pointing out the common and the uncommon. And here we are trying to prove that both machines are opposites.

                          No offence but,

I want to see what happens when these guys come face to face with their bikes. May be this argument will have a sequel on the road. And when either of the two brands lose against the other, say in a drag or a race, thats when the thread starter will know what to buy. And what will the losing team do? Sell of their bikes and buy the other brand? No right?

Like Haxor said, to each his own. You're not helping him decide you're imposing your choice on him by degrading another brand. If your stock RTR could do a 150 and the stock FZ could do only a 120 that's when the difference is huge. This applies the other way round too.

About the initial speeds. Most magazines have quoted a difference of a milli seconds or may be a second or a two. Outside the race track this difference would matter only if the two want to p** and have the same bathroom to reach.

Looks.Come on man, a few months later you'll find these same bikes with some of the characters from poser diaries. So what are you fighting about? exclusivity? Try buying an import or the sports bikes which are commercially available. Then even those who you dont want to take a second look at your bike will do so.

                          Hope this 'lecturing' helps.

@All-If you guys don't stop then this thread will head to only one direction. If possible then post something which will help the orginal poster instead of confusing him.
