One year and they have not updated their website
So how do you know they are discontinued. Through showrooms? Even Honda Showrooms told that Stunner was discontinued but later it came with new colors.
    Whats there in a signature?

I just wanted to get expert advise from you guy and wanted to know whether used fazer after modifying will be reliable or not. I mean after big bore kit, will the engine be as good as new?
I am still not clear why you said you do not want to go for a P220/ZMA/RTR or even a used R15.
      • They offer similar mileage figures as Fazer if that's the deciding point.
      • All these four bikes offer much better performance both for touring and ripping compared to fazer/fz16
      • And a new Fazer costs almost the same as a ZMA and a tiny bit more than a P220 I guess? So for the same money, you'll be able to get a used P220/ZMA. So decide what you actually want - Touring ability + power OR better looks offered by a fazer (though its an individual opinion). I would take more power+comfort instead of better looks.
      • You might instead get a used P220/ZMA and Joel it. Heck, both bikes are powerful enough in stock condition, so you might not even need a performance mod. And lookwise both are pretty good too. If you really want to, get a FFE from Joel which maynot cost you so much while giving you some edge over the stock.
      • Another alternative, would be to get an RTR 160/180. You might even be able to buy a new one + Joel the vehicle with a big bore kit or just a FFE = good power + very good fuel economy compared to other three. Though I don't own an RTR, the amazing exhaust note of RTRs drive me crazy! And this can be your "X factor" thing, separating you from others. Though you'll get over this as you get old, trust me. Put an effort on making an impression on others based on your contribution to others/character and not on what you own or where you work. The only downside to an RTR might be the fiber vibration nags which most of the RTR owners talk about, but hey, every bike will have some issue no matter what. So check out the bike yourself, get it from a friend or someone close and ride it for a good distance and get to know for yourself. From a reliability POV, its as good as the other three here.
      • Another alternative, get a used R15 for maybe around 75-80, and maybe get a FFE from Joel. Offers the extra oomph + touring power + ripping factor.

Instead of spending on modding the vehicle, spend it on education. It will help you in long run no matter you ride a Fazer or FZ1.

This is all I got to say, I usually don't poke my nose into thread where people say I've 1L in hand & what should I buy; to me its like going to a hotel & asking the bearer, I've Rs 100 in hand & what should I eat?

All the best if you go for a new or old ride; remember to ride safe & ride hard.
      ^^+1+1+1. Golden words.

PS: I bought a 5 year old ZMA, paid almost the half price of a new one. Made sure that every single thing about the bike was in acceptable condition. Its been almost two years since the day I bought it and the major changes I have done is a chain/sprocket change which was due. Changed the tyres to better than stock ones which was due too. I religiously perform timely maintenance/oil changes with a local mechanic after making sure he knows what he's doing, while do simple things like wash + wax myself. Obviously it doesn't look better than a 2011/12-make ZMA, but yet looks almost like a new one (probably its thanks to waxing). It is not the best thing on road in either look or power department. But I don't really care as it serves me extremely well and performs as good as the newer ZMAs, and behaves like a cruiser ship when it comes to touring. I couldn't ask for more.

So remember that if you're going to buy a used vehicle, you have to make sure that the engine, chassis, wiring, fairing and internals are intact and in good condition. If these are good, there is nothing much which might go wrong and even if they do the repairs wont be that steep. You can buy better tyres yourself, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but it will be a deciding factor in knowing the kms the bike has covered so far. And since its a used bike, there definitely is a higher chance of something failing sometime compared to a brand new bike, so accept this fact and decide for yourself.

And since you haven't started earning yet, think hard and several times about the stress you're willing to put on your parents' money. It might not be a lot of money, but they not just letting go a small sum of money, but also their beloved son on a dangerous sport. So respect that more, and care less about the looks or power or about impressing others with looks or whatever. Ride safe, think for yourself and don't depend too much on others' opinion. In the frenzy of getting a better bike, don't ignore the other costs - tyres, good horn and good lighting if the bike lacks it. Also make sure you buy a good armored jacked, riding gloves, shoes and helmet. If possible knee pads too. Include these in your 80k budget.

As I am inches away from beginning a lesson in philosophy instead of which-bike, I shut my mouth here. If my "extra-wise" words angered you, I apologize. Don't take it personally but don't ignore it either.

@prashk, Angered? No way... In fact it helped me a lot. Ok, i like zma, but doesn't it require higher maintenance than 150cc bikes? And i'm worried about FE, i need atleast 40kmpl. .

zma's spares are a bit costly.you can achieve that fe figure on highways or even within city .

you won't get constant 40 but you can touch the mark.
