is the bike butter smooth.. i.e when you reduce the gear, does a jerk comes up.. Commonly known as engine braking.. If that is present your clutch and the oil has got some friction.. FS oil may be the culprit here.. Someone else reported a similar issue with motul 300v.. It appeared as if the bottle contained car engine oil with friction reducers and was repacked as motul fs. As you guys have two very similar bikes try comparing the engine braking friction in both the bikes.. If possible change the engine oil and use ss oil on your next oil change.Originally posted by antz.bin View Post

I myself have used 300v on my bike for like 20k+ km. Thats not an issue. Besides, he is using Motul 7100 (Recommended oil for Duke and N650, correct grade for P220 also). Engine is butter smooth during acceleration, and there is adequate engine braking. I have used car engine oil on my bike in the past(by mistake), so I know how clutch slippage feels. The oil is definitely good. Its probably smoother than mine because the oil on mine is 3.5k km old and is only SS.Originally posted by muztariq View Postis the bike butter smooth.. i.e when you reduce the gear, does a jerk comes up.. Since we have tried quite a few things for the last 2+ months (including changing piston rings and running-in again), I am of the opinion that it has something to do with fueling. And since the only major difference in our bikes is the way the bikes are fueled, I haven't been able to troubleshoot it, yet.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Fueling looks to be the issue.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostSince we have tried quite a few things for the last 2+ months (including changing piston rings and running-in again), I am of the opinion that it has something to do with fueling. I remember a friend faced similar issue, of worse intensity, oh his 220fi. His bike would hardly do any decent.speed. Service center messed it during 1st service.
One query, whats the rpm reading like? If rpm refuse to climb higher, even in lower gears - may be ignition/fueling.
@utsav: if you want to fix this bike, I will suggest to talk to one Mr Venkat from Auto service, bangalore.
Else, dump fi and replace it with carb. I know, via my mech, who has done this conversion on a few 220's.
And if you want another bike all together & if I was in your place, I would not look anywhere other than a used cbr250 - but only if you are getting it from a reliable source & not nanapeth. Most km/hr, your primary req, under your budget.2000 Suzuki Fiero | 2004 Bullet Electra | 2004 RX135 | 2005 CBZ | 2009 Karizma | 2009 Punto 1.4 Petrol | 2011 Yamaha YZF-R15

didnt knw utsav had a 220 too, thought he had a rtr earlier.
If the fi system is giving so many problems the why dont you just remove it and put in a carb, the 220 satisfies all your needs and as of now there is really no good upgrade in the 1 lakh price segment for the 220.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

The rev-limiter is very hard to hit even in lower gears. I have ridden NitroSatya's bike in the past and hitting rev-limiter on that one was easy peasy. Not so easy on Utsav's.Originally posted by nav75 View PostFueling looks to be the issue.

Today I was riding his bike and stopped the engine using engine kill at a traffic signal. When it turned green, the bike wouldn't start for the first 20 odd seconds. NO response from the starter. So I push the bike to the side, crank again and VOILA, the bike starts as if nothing happened!
Another observation is, there is a perceptible flat spot at 6.3k RPM where the revs struggle to cross over. Once over this, the bike revs easily to 8.5k ish after that starts struggling again.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Looks like fueling/ignition. If I was in his place, I would get in touch with Mr Venkat ASAP & if he wants, would be at his service center on this weekend.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostAnother observation is, there is a perceptible flat spot at 6.3k RPM where the revs struggle to cross over.
