    1. YAMAHA R15 & FZ16
I have a special affinity towards Yamaha products (as I even own 1 now) but I am let down by some of the practical problems with R15 and FZ16.

    a) Both these bikes lack a kicker which I feel is very essential for Indian conditions.
Can any of the R15 or FZ16 owners tell me how ur bikes have faired in torrential rain conditions. With incessant rains in Chennai for the whole of last week, Chennai bikers can contribute more.

    b) How is the pillion seat comfort in both FZ16 and R15? I have seen the bikes in showroom and I personally feel it is not all that suitable to take my family (mom/wife). Any contradicting opinions ?

    2. TVS RTR

    3. SUZUKI GS150R

hey donarun, regarding rtr, I am riding one for more than a year now.. I have faced no major problems till now.. its still my darling
regarding vibes, a good synthetic oil like motul/power1 should solve the problem to a great extent.

TVS racing team members comments are scary though

I have a r-15 too.. I guess it will be a bit hard to ride on it with your mom/wife!

And I am not a qualified person to speak about FZ and GS150 since i have never rode them.

A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

Looking at your requirement I think the best suited bike for you is RTR but since you already blacklisted the bike I think there are no more choices remains there.

GS150 wouldnt be much torquey if compared with FZ/RTR, you can look for P200 or wait for P200Fi (launching soon).

Fz16 is a good choice but small pillion space seat.
RTR is good but can't say about reliability.
Wait for P200 fi january launch.

            a. I think those times are gone when a kicker is needed. Even I don't "USE" it in my P180 anymore anytime.

            b. FZ's seat is soft for short rides. Long rides may bother though. Can't comment on R15.

            c. I test drove both these bikes & as general I don't think this was an issue in either. Build quality seems great at first opinion. Maybe an owner can comment...

            d. Well, I suppose the Fz can return from 45-50 if driven good. Reg. R15 I say it will give 35-40, but if you are on highways, you may well get 50+...

            2. Dealing in Fi is not a real issue, as they get it outsourced from Delphi Engine Systems. This particular company supplies all 2 Wheeler Fi's in India, including P220, Glamour Fi, RTR Fi, etc.

Reg. Gearbox, maybe you should test drive it. I couldn't spot this problem in my TD.

And also reg. engines losing power, There is a member named "Joel" in Xbhp. He owns an RTR, which is heavily modified for Race use. He is the best person who can help you. Send him a PM. As far as I'm concerned, this is first time I heard such a complaint.

            3. I haven't test rode it. When I do, I'll reply here ... ok?

Can't comment on 1 & 2, though I think spending 74k on FZ16 is not a wise decision, it can't justify the price when other 150ccs are available at 8-10k cheaper.

GS150 is one hell of a machine. I really loved the way it sailed, nice torque. In fact, I was about to book one, and I am still planning my finances for it. Make sure you take a test ride of GS150R before finaziling. Specially for carrying family lady members, it's great. Only thing is it is bit heavy, but only 3 kgs heavier than Unicorn.

Had a Test Drive of Suzuki GS 150 R in Bangalore

It is typical Unicorn with the goodies of Pulsar. Yes the only -ve I found in a very short Test drive was its weight. But it is only 3 kgs heavier than Unicorn.

I've booked both Suzuki GS 150 R and Yamaha FZ 16. FZ 16 is ready for delivery, but I'm waiting for a proper test drive once again of the GS 150 once again. Then I'll decide on which one to go for.

Before this I was tempted to go for RTR Fi, but because of the waiting period of 60 days, I just postponed my buying and now there are another 2 new bikes. We are really spoilt for choice.

THE Engine of GS 150 is very smooth and the gear shift is good. The Electricals are excellant. If your build is below average, then I would suggest RTR only. I'm yet to take a TD of FZ 16 - once I take that I'll give you the details on that Bike.

Dont get us wrong here, both myself and the racing members are not saying that TVS has given us a crap bike in RTR, we were only pointing to the fact that their build quality falls short of the jap makers.

i think this thread will end up in war between the owners and purists of the RTR/RTR FI and the FZ16 again............

this time i suggest you to ride the machines you mentioned, and decide with your mind and heart both...........

(ps: the RTR FI still ROCKS man..............)

Well, it does fall short of the build quality of a Japanese engine... but not by a huge margin. At least for road usage it lasts pretty long... cannot comment about track usage...

                            TVS RTR

I have owned RXZ for 4 years when i sold it and drove other bikes nothing came close to it and i believe the RTR if not matches it comes close to a two stroke yammie in terms of performance.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

                              selling a rx 135 for 150 4 stroke?
think again.... btw selling the 135?

am not against 4 strokes here. if you really want a new bike then go for RTR FI or FZ. i advice FI for performance and i know what kind of performance you will be looking since you ride 135.
FZ(fat rear tyre and ofcourse "YAMMIE") is next close to FI(rear disk brakes - added advantage) regarding the performance but wins the race with better looks.

guys most of the threads are being locked by the mod bhai. i know these are the bikes in debate along with GS150R.
advice the thread starter a better bike according to HIS REQUIREMENTS.
