Which dealer in bangalore allowed the test ride .. they just denied to me at the Airport one.Originally posted by javed View PostIt is typical Unicorn with the goodies of Pulsar. Yes the only -ve I found in a very short Test drive was its weight. But it is only 3 kgs heavier than Unicorn.
I've booked both Suzuki GS 150 R and Yamaha FZ 16. FZ 16 is ready for delivery, but I'm waiting for a proper test drive once again of the GS 150 once again. Then I'll decide on which one to go for.
Before this I was tempted to go for RTR Fi, but because of the waiting period of 60 days, I just postponed my buying and now there are another 2 new bikes. We are really spoilt for choice.
THE Engine of GS 150 is very smooth and the gear shift is good. The Electricals are excellant. If your build is below average, then I would suggest RTR only. I'm yet to take a TD of FZ 16 - once I take that I'll give you the details on that Bike.

About the R15, I'm not dead sure about build quality, but it seems fine. I am riding it for a month, done 1400kms and have ridden over a few bad roads, and still no vibes in the fairing and stuff. I also carry my mom to school (2kms) and back, with her bag (full of exercise books) and her purse. She finds place to keep the bag full of copies on her lap and hang the purse on one shoulder. The only complaint is the sharp angle of the seat. Earlier this was done on a Unicorn which was like peice of cake.
But I can comment on its slow speed handling. I find it very easy to handle even with all that extra weight at speeds of 2-3kmph without putting my foot down. Was difficult on the Unicorn. So any inhibitions about pillions, shed it. This bike can handle it.
About the FZ, I am impressed with the flat bars. Actually very comfy and practical for city use. But the pillion seat was very narrow for me, I'm 55kgs. Forget heavier/bulkier guys. Have to ride one for long enough to actually give proper feedback.
About the RTR, well, I was a unicorn guy. When I rode an RTR I was shocked at such a lot of vibrations at such low r.p.m. I am simply not used to it, and hence didnt like it. My pov. May differ for you.
The lanza, well, I have not even seen it in flesh yet!You get the point?? :D

@donarun: Since you own a Rx135.... I would suggest you to take test rides of all the bikes you have mentioned, take a second test if need be, believe me you will stick to your 2 stroker....
If you still hell-bent on a change, then R15, RTR, Fz16.... in order of my preference, all three are good bikes
I took my friend for a 200km ride on Fz, neither me, my friend nor my bike had any problems.... rear seat thing is a myth

Unicorn with a lighter front end than the RX?
Sorry I don't think so. All 100-135cc two stroke yammies have a very light front end. A pillion is enough on a Yamaha for unintentional wheelies at every traffic signal. Meanwhile, if you are defining flickability as the bike's ability to weave in and out of urban traffic, then I think the light RXs beat the Unicorn. But otherwise, the Unicorn is a very stable handler that is very composed. Unicorn: Fill it:shut it:forget it. So, you might find it a tad unexciting and boring. But, in time, you'll miss this very attribute on the "more exciting" bikes.
My two paise.

selling rx135 ?
i personally love that bike a lot, i still remember beating a p150 with my friends rx135
and for you, i suggest you either go for rtr or fz, spending 1 lakh for a 150 cc bike is not that wise
, though its the best bike in its segment (i guess you r not going for race)
pillion comfort on rtr is ok ok, i always drive more than 70km with a pillion on my rtr, he/she never complained me
, i will rate my poly shocks 4.5..and again fz is also good, boths power level are almost same, get a test drive on both and then decide
p.s.---i won a drag against fz

If you are still looking for the RX's qualities in your next bike then I think only the RTR can come close to it. Pillion comfort lacking severly IMO.Originally posted by rakeshchn View PostJust in case you have not seen this already

If you're willing to change your mindset&maybe driving style to a certain extent, then I'm sure the GS150R will satisfy completely.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

If you find the Uni to be very 'heavy and bulky', im sure the specimen was a one off case man.
The RXs are certainly the kings of the urban jungle with their point and squirt type power delivery and light front, however high speed handling is definitely not their forte.
One visit to a set of twisties on a Uni and you'll learn how composed the Honda's chassis-suspension package is

I'm not saying this just because I've used the RX for 9 yrs. I also have experience putting the RX to the sword, several times on the MMST and Kari Speedway. The Grp C RX's have an even light front end and it works well on the tight Kari Speedway. I'm not trying to be arrogant with my experience, its just that the bike's high speed handling is good.

Do the GroupC RXs run stock tyres..?Originally posted by donarun View PostI beg to differ on this my friend. I'm not saying this just because I've used the RX for 9 yrs. I was of the opinion that the RXs were decent handlers at best.
Hope Joel can shed some light on this topic...I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.
