Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

there is another thread with a similar discussion going on... check it out.
I think Glamour PGM-Fi is a good option.

What say about twister, fulfills everything single one of youre requirements in an even better way.

If you don't mind the mileage being abit low then the SS125 is a good bet.

any particular reason for keeping such a high budget?
Just do a simple calculation.. You will use this bike for 1,00,000 km. An average of 65 km/l will consume 1538 litre i.e 112000 rs petrol.
Buy a good bike like gs150r which has good handling, has power, 6 gears and gives mileage of 55-60 km/l i.e 1,33,000 rs petrol(73 rs/ l and mileage of 55)... So eventually you save 20,000 rs petrol but lose on power! What say.. The price of glamour and gs150r would be the same.

            Thanks saipranav,ashwinprakas,muztariq for ur comments..

            • I am not opting Bajaj because i think they are unreliable..
            • Is Glamour have good suspension..? so that aged persons ride it with out any issues.
            • As this for my Father who is ~ Age 45

It should be Reliable (as they can'y effort to go for very often to mechanic / roam for spare parts ). So..

Is Yamaha Bikes are as reliable as Hero/Honda and is there good no of service centres it..?
            • Is Shine/Passion Pro don't have good feedback..?

As far as i know glamour has a good suspension(its on par with other bikes in the same price range...)

Yamaha bikes are also very refined afaik. But i dont have much idea about their mileage figures, i dont think they will be very reliable, regarding service centers, check around your area.

While in the case of hero, i guess it has the best service/sales network in the country.
I dont really recommend passion pro, simply because it has become too common these days :P

              Coming to Shine v/s Glamour...

If you observe their engine, you will see that they are the same internally, but tuned to give different power out puts.
They have the same bore x stroke ratio...
Shine gives slightly more power 7.55kW v/s Glamour 6.72kW
Glamour has a slightly more fuel capacity and most importantly it has fi... that too a very reliable one.
Fi= no starting problem, easy to maintain when you rely of authorized service centers, linear spread of torque etc,...
Finally the choice is yours. I would recommend your dad to take a test drive of both the vehicles and then decide.
              Good Luck.

                • Is Glamour have good suspension..? so that aged persons ride it with out any issues. Yes. But try to get a monoshock bike (Unicorn/Dazzler)

Is Yamaha Bikes are as reliable as Hero/Honda and is there good no of service centres it..? Most bikes are reliable now. Honda/Hero are notorious for lack of spares and keep you waiting in many places. Check out the ownership threads for more info.
                • Is Shine/Passion Pro don't have good feedback..? Didn't get you
Since it is for your dad, comfort should take priority over everything else. Go for the Unicorn or the Dazzler. I wouldn't suggest the GS150R, which is a great bike, just because of its lack of service centers and heavy weight.
A new discover is launching today and also the Honda Dream Yuga. Check them out before you take a decision.

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

                      Hi Pavan,

Yeah, I've read your "No Bajaj" clause but still suggesting a Discover. It meets all your requirements. Best mileage (82 or something is claimed by bajaj ) in the segment, good handling, low on maintenance, parts are available anywhere / anytime and yet cheaper than those of Honda's and Yamaha's...
Frankly speaking, if you want such a great mileage you have no other option than Bajaj. Believe it or not, that's a fact...

PS: I'm not a Bajaj fanboy. Nor intend to start a brand war here. But can't resist to put out the facts that are proven...
Originality is the art of hiding your sources...

Yes your points are correct..But are they reliable as Hero/Honda Bikes..?

I have few of My frnds who are unhappy with Pulser after 2 Yrs Ownership. That's is the reason i am not at all going to Bajaj Bikes.

^^ @Pavan, from your list Unicorn is the best bet. I'm surprised that you just shortlisted only Honda products, you can also look at other options, which are even better on many fronts except perceived reliability. I say perceived, because i've had friends who got Unicorn, they did face problems, but only difference is they will not call it unreliable spares are very costly especially when you compare with the likes of Yamaha & Bajaj.

When I rode Glamour(not FI) I felt its suspension to be bit hard.
If you get Unicorn with out much waiting period, go for it as it will give an average of 55kmpl in normal city conditions despite having a 150cc mill.
Passion Pro is still one of the best bikes in 100cc segment with nice ride quality and fuel efficiency(obviously with best fuel efficiency among the four listed here!)
