  • Please suggest 40+ kmpl city bike <1 lac for 18 yr old

    Hi,
I am Kannan from chennai. I am 18 yrs old. I have been driving Honda Activa for more than 2 years. I am going to buy a new bike!

    1. I use it on all weekends. and a few times in the weekdays
    2. Maximum i will be riding inside the city only, touring is very very rare.
    3. Seating and riding must be comfortable.
    4. I want the bike to be stylish.
    5. I can maintain it moderately.
    6. I am a bit hefty and 5'8" tall.
    7. I cannot afford too much. around 1 lakh.
    8. Mileage: 40+

please suggest me the best. I am really confused!

First of all, Welcome to xBHP Kannan.

You could try any of the 150cc bikes which will definitely return 40kmpl in city.

Try the FZ-S / Fazer if you like its looks but its FE will just be bordering on 40kmpl.

Alternately You can try the Pulsar 180 if you are interested in the extra power OR the Stunner if you seek better looks instead.

If you are fine with a bit of waiting, the New Pulsar 200NS is just about to hit the Showrooms in a few days.

All of the above are good for the city AND fit your 1 lac budget.

    Happy Shopping.

RTR 180 ABS should be a very good option.
What exactly do you mean by around 1 lakh, if you are ready for a little more R15 is the best bet for you!

thank you! i was pretty sure about getting the pulsar 180 but a few people said that pulsar is a bad choice! i was not able to know why they said so. but i see soo many pulsars in the streets. and when coming to the pulsar 200ns. since its a new vehicle with all new model and engine, can i book it before going through and ownership reviews?

around 1 lakh i mean if the ex.showroom price is before is in 90K and on road comes a little more than 1 lakh then that choice should not be avoided
and btw R15, i does not suit my budget as well as FE. abs 180.... i am considering it thanks for your response sir

As of now, there is only one 135cc bike for sale in India (Bajaj or others). Thats the Pulsar 135LS.

Pulsar 135 LS with 4 valves is VFM in the segment...
From what could be seen ,The Pulsar 200 NS has the KTM engine and only the top head is different with 3 spark plugs....This bike will satisfy you in all the requirements...besides the Honda Unicorn is still available.....which is a time proven bike..

there are so many options available.. Its high time you take out specs of all the front runners being suggested here and compare their specs.. Shortlist further by going to the respective ownership threads.. Take test rides of a few (5-6) bikes.. Take a feel and go for it.. You can get final opinion here on the best of three you decide.

My bet for a young boy like you would be a cbz extreme or a hunk from the HH stable, or fzs/fazer from the yamaha stable. Consider these also when you prepare your list!

                        All the best.

                            1. yamaha fazer 2011 model
                            2. bajaj pulsar 180 ug4

what say?! regarding maintanence, handling in traffic, quality, and looks??

Looks are subjective, but if you are talking about road presence, then fazer all the way. quality & maintenance shouldn't be a problem with either of these bikes. I'm not sure if Fazer can return consisten 40+ kmpl mileage, but P180 surely can. Handling in traffic, I believe you are better off with P180, certainly the huge quarter fairing of fazer wouldn't allow you to cut through the traffic. P180 scores a point or two in the performance dept. over Fazer.
