This raises a question; per the excel, Twister has a FE of 85.70, while Honda claims 72Kmpl. Why would any manufacturer claim less? Is Honda poor with marketing skills

Why don't you call up Honda and ask?

I don't want to because, they may reply, its better to shut the mouth & offer competitive products that speaks for itself than paying to portals for false publicity

you seem to have a budget of 1 lakh.. Now look at the list other way around.
There are bikes which give the following mileage
            1. Around 70
            2. Around 60
            3. Around 50
            4. Around 40 or below

if you want 1. Go for any 110 cc or less bike available discovers and splendors top this list.
For 2. 3. 4. You have some 150 cc giving that mileage gs150r, sz series top this list.

With your money go for a 150cc mentioned above or buy any 110cc or below bike.

Most of the FE figures are wrong, in real life conditions, those two wheelers don't match that chart!

Of course that data is absolutely wrong. But the point to note is, these numbers came when all those vehicles were ridden in the exact same manner.

So, for a given riding style (of 1 person), if not the numbers, the ranks will definitely remain constant. The ranks are what we are interested in. Not the actual numbers. At least thats what I can gather from the 'Title' of this thread.

Classic 350 gives around 35kmpl in city and around 40kmpl+/- on highways.

RE is best in riding position and it feel. So this mileage are not bad from 350cc with mega torque!!

RE CL350 is very reliable than it's siblings younger/elder. what way you ride in city??? just accelerating the bike?? 30kmpl-32kmpl is very low dude.

City rides means you are in between 4th and 5th gear, speed varies 40kmph to 65kmph. Frequent change of gears and braking !!!

So you should get atleast 35kmpl to 38kmpl. recently i spoke to 4 CL350 owners you ride at same time when i leave for office. They 4 say that they get 40kmpl+ , even they quote that they get some time 45kmpl manytimes. But i see them they ride at crusing speed and no worries of world at all, 50kmph to 70kmph. I never saw them ripping thier RE.

There is a scientific method involved in the calculation of these mileages which requires extreme care during the test process alongwith sophisticated equipment. For details on how these values are arrived at, go through this article : The Hindu : Metro Plus Chennai / Wheels : Fuelling sales .

So, as long as we do not have access to such facilities AND support from the manufacturers to test each and every model in their lineup, we cannot go about making such a list on our effort alone. Since the tests conducted by iCAT / ARAI are extremely standardized in nature, the same can be used as a useful guideline on how each model will behave in real world conditions *relative* to competition if not the numbers itself.

So, instead of aiming for rated mileages, try to look at them as ranks and accept that something like a Unicorn(Rated 71 kmpl) will do better in terms of FE as compared to an RTR160(Rated 62 kmpl) when *they are ridden by the same rider*.

Or else, if we (at xBHP) do our independent testing and claim x value for a y model, someone will come with a counter claim that his y bike does much better / worse than what we have claimed and accuse us of being biased towards / against a particular manufacturer / model. This mileage topic is more dependent on the rider + traffic than the bike itself, so apart from using a standardized process(effectively eliminating the rider's riding style from the equation), this variable can never be taken care of to give you actual mileage that it will return you.
