Ducati 795, Ninja 650r or The Iron 883
Hi im new on these forums, I currently reside in canada and ride a 2008 Gsxr-600. I come to india at least twice a year for at least 2 months at a time. In canada we only get to ride for around 2-3 months a year. So Im getting a bike in india as well i have narrowed down my choices to the Ducati 795, Ninja 650r or the Iron 883. I would like to get the M795 the most out of all 3 of these but i hear there are problems with ducati in india and have not gotten any straight forward answers on what is happening or when it will be over. My second choice is the 650r but i don't like the styling of the bike it is not aggressive enough for me. My 3rd choice is the iron 883 i know it is a way different bike then the first two i chose but i like the styling and i would like to own a relaxed bike but the performance is way to low for a 883 in my opinion. Any suggestions would be awesome and if any one can provide some solid information on the ducati 795 i would be extremely great full. Thanks again in advance. Ps the iron 883 is as high as my budget will go.Tags: None

I know they have the best service because theres a harley dealership in chandigarh and there are bajaj dealerships everywhere its close to me as well but im not that worried about service i do oil changes and maintenance on my gsxr myself plus parts wont be that big of a deal i can bring them in from canada when i come in my luggage (to a certain extent).Originally posted by pulsar_flame View Postkawasaki ninja 650r n harley iron 883 have the best service in india...

Go for Iron 883.... I would say go for the Harley... you would not be able to njoy other two bikes much on Indian roads... Also the style statement and sound of harley would make sure you would be the center of attraction on every road.... Ninja is cool but a Harley is a Harley.... if you have not taken a testride of it already then check out its videos on youtube and you will instantly fall in love with it....
If your budget is not much then you can buy two bikes too - a Royal Enfield bullet thunderstroam 500 and a Honda CBR 250R... total cost of both would be a collective 3.5 lakhs.. which would still be half of Iron 883 and you could have the fun of both type of bikes... but still if you have your heart on a single super power bike then go for harley... be it Iron 883 or any other harley

The sound of the iron 883 isn't that great you should google it but still i know its a harley. Don't you think the power is way to low 883ccs and only 45bhp. top speed is a bit over 160, acceleration is also pretty slow. I think i will get tired of the harley really quick because i drive the gsxr normally as far as indian roads go im planning on going for rides on the moga ludhiana highway witch is decent. Im also wondering witch bike would have the most wow factor in moga/ludhiana the ducati, harley or kawasaki.Originally posted by lovish View PostGo for Iron 883.... how about a used bike directly from Canada! import duties for used bikes are lesser, i think. and from the above options its clear that your heart says Ducati!

Do you know about any details on how i could ship a bike directly to india because bikes here are pretty cheap when its winter the prices drop a lot because everyone has there bikes in storage i picked up my 2008 gsxr for 6000 dollars (3 lacs) in november of last year. Im sure i could find a r6 for 5000. But i don't really want to do this to much paperwork and waiting. Plus a ducati would be out of the question there just as expensive here as they are in india but still a bit less then india.Originally posted by mid View Posthow about a used bike directly from Canada! import duties for used bikes are less, i think. and from the above options its clear that your heart says Ducati!

In Punjab Harley would have the best wow factor according to me... and yeah you are right regarding the power that's why I said you can buy a combo of two indian bikes RE thunderstroam n honda CBR 250 den going for a single bike... but a Harley is a Harley.... that's for sure... if you have the buget then you can also go for 48er or 49er whatever its called.. that's a hell of bike tooOriginally posted by RSidhu View PostThe sound of the iron 883 isn't that great you should google it but still i know its a harley. True punjabis love the sound of a RE Bullet so a harley would be there style. The 48 is expensive 9.5lacs on road out of my budget. My max budget would be around 7.5 if i stretched it. I have heard of used super bikes in india does anyone know the risk of buying one and how much one would cost me no hayabusas please they are to big and bulky i don't like them at all.Originally posted by lovish View PostIn Punjab Harley would have the best wow factor according to me... and yeah you are right regarding the power that's why I said you can buy a combo of two indian bikes RE thunderstroam n honda CBR 250 den going for a single bike... but a Harley is a Harley.... that's for sure... if you have the buget then you can also go for 48er or 49er whatever its called.. that's a hell of bike too

Being a punjabi myself I just purchased Bullet Classic as my first bikeOriginally posted by RSidhu View PostTrue punjabis love the sound of a RE Bullet so a harley would be there style. It maybe my personal views but superbikes are not for Indian road ( except if you are on a expressway like delhi-gurgaon one ) no matter which bike you purchase you will never be able to cross 100-110 safely here so I would advise against it... your focus should be on the style statement and enough power in your budget rather then on a superbike whose full power ( or even half power ) would never be used in its lifetime... A honda CBR 250R or Ninja 250R would do very well against Superbikes in India.. so if you can save money by purchasing them brand new then why do you want to purchase low Fuel economy bulky second hand sports bikes ( as much as I can guess you don't like too bulky bikes )
So.. for Style statement and enough power for Indian roads any Harley would be great ( rather more then enough ) or just buy an Ninja and RE bullet togather... ot just only Ninja 250 or Honda CBR 250... saving money and investing them somewhere else

Remember bro... a brand new bike is brand new... no matter how great bike you are getting as second hand.. it would never be able to match a new bikes performance....

I know I won't be going very fast on Indian roads but in my opinion that's not what superbikes are for for example a hayabusa can go 300kmph plus but that doesn't mean you are going to actually go that fast all the time. Superbikes are about knowing that your the fastest thing on the road and the thrill superbikes give of reaching just 100kmph is like no other. Pulling the throttle and power wheelieing through first gear now that's a addictive drug. Any superbike owner will agree.Originally posted by lovish View PostBeing a punjabi myself I just purchased Bullet Classic as my first bike

Since it is Summer, I presume you are currently in Canada. So you are not looking to buy immediately.
Now coming to the 3 bikes. AS of now.
2012 Ninja 650R launch has no official date. The old one was brought in only in extremely limited no.s. Your only hope in this priceband really. Lets hope that it gets launched before peak winter.
Ducati has been having trouble delivering ANY bikes, not just the 795. Dealers are closing down and the service is patchy at best.
Harley, even though it will be vastly different from your current ride, the GSXR, is the only real option from the current shortlist.
I see that you are a bigger fan of 'Horsepower' than 'Heritage' so I would suggest you to reconsider your options. The only real options you have are the 3 bikes from Hyosung (who just had a change of Management in India) or the 1000cc and above bikes from the 3 Japanese manufacturers.
Out Of these options, my picks would be, in order of preference.
1. Yamaha FZ1
2. Suzuki Bandit
3. Hyosung GT650R/N
Since you are looking for something friendly enough for the street.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

As analyzing your post it's very simple that you need a Sports Bike with Mega Bhp and Speed. So it's very simple even if Harley gives power to speed. Then too you would love a sports bike only. Any time Ducati !!Originally posted by RSidhu View PostThe sound of the iron 883 isn't that great you should google it but still i know its a harley. But Ducati is not stable yet. They require few more yrs to get stabilized say 2-3yrs. if this is fin then go head else Harley. BTW Ducait products are best so major issues are no where till they stabilize INMO!!
