Becuase if you pay till 85k i,e buying Fazer/ unicorn/Dazzler than you miss some good bikes like P220, NS200 Awenger, RTR 180ABS just for more 10k.

It's better to keep the margin little big say a difference of 20k from these bikes any bike within 75k will be good for you.

So as per your YAMAHA and HONDA choice

Go with FZ, SZ-r or Stunner 125!!

You should strongly consider Hero and Bajaj INMO.

Becuase with in a range of 75k you get more options:

P150,P180, Hunk/CBZ these four bikes does all functions of Dazzler or Unicorn or FZ in less price then them. With a Good re-sale value and mileage too.

    Esle FZ and FZ !!

Personally I am a Fan of Yamaha, i like only Yamaha Bikes, may be it's a 100cc or 150cc or in future 200cc+

will hero bikes be reliable in the longrun since the honda badge has been removed..

me considering yamaha fz and honda unicorn/dazzler.. but i didnt like the looks of honda bikes except 250R.

Every companies have their own set of contract rules, as Hero was using Honda technology so, there is an agreement that they will be using it in future to in the future for the existing models, But for new models Hero has to think on itself. Or get a merger with someone new.

Example, Mahindra is selling renault's engine car logan in name of Verito!! they have a contract for this engine for few more years later mahindra is self sufficient to get a new model engine.
Similarly Hero will back up the dead space with it's engineering team or with a new merger!!

Shell out 5 k more and you could get a Karizma R or Pulsar 220F. Dont regret later for not spending that extra 5k.

So try FZ or RTR. Apache is pretty powerful and in the 150 segment FZ has one of the most refined engines. Economy is not on the brighter side though. You will get between 45 and 50 if maintained properly. And if highway rides at 60kmph you could get more than 50kmpl.

Dazzler is also having good economy and decent power. But personally I hate the styling.

Just a suggestion from my side.
Why don't you consider a used bike.
Just spend a little time in research.Go for individuals rather than dealers.Get the bike checked by a trusted mechanic.
You can save at least 10k and this can be used for fuel expenses.
AFAIK except in bangalore you can get a well maintained r15 in your budget.
Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

FZ/Fazer meets your requirements, go for any of them you like personally & you'll be happy with your decision..other choice is Dazzler which will return you better mileage figures but i personally don't like its styling..

I think you should go for the RTR180. I myself have been using a TVS Fiero for the past 9 yrs. Having done over a lakh kms, never ever did i open up the engine. Reliability is the key factor here. even after completing so many years, i dont get nervous at all if i have to take here for long rides.

Now since the production of the fiero has been stopped years back, i am planning to buy a new bike. and its going to be the RTR180 for sure.

This is just about my experience with TVS... Choice is yours.

And regarding TVS service centres, all the service centers you find will be in a smaller scale, meaning they wont take more than 8-10 bikes a day unlike other bike comp service centers. i always prefer such types of centers because you will always know which mechanic has done the job on your bike. plus suppose, if there is any fault in your bike, u can always go to that mech directly to solve the problem. I find it very beneficial. since i hv been servicing my bike fr yrs now, suppose if i only need a oil change, or rear brake shoe/front disc pad change or for any minor adjustments, my mech always entertains me no matter what time i go to him....

"not looking for a used bike."
                            okay
I think the best under your budget is FZ except for its cruising ability, top end performance and mileage.
But as you are worried a bit about economy i think yamaha sz-r makes perfect sense.
I recommend to increase your budget about 10K and get a rtr180abs(though i would buy a p200ns at that price).
I recommended a used bike as it makes more financial sense.

According to autocar may edition fz-s is 78.6 onroad delhi

Bro FZ is nice in cruising too, a 150cc engine which is good city and highway with a top end of around 115-120kmph is not bad either . What top speed are you expecting from a 150cc commuter-cum-street bike?? Single ridden easily takes it to 105kmph and from there it start slagging. Braking is nice and handling too.

Mileage question varies a lot here, some people got 35-40kmpl, some get 45-50kmpl. Purely on your riding style!! So true potential is a question still!!!

Mostly any mature ride won't need an ABS, but it's anytime an added advantage!!!

KKSin123: But when economy kicks in then please choose a bike wisely and my Vote goes to SZr on those terms!!!

Fz/fzs is a nice handling bike in your budget although top end power, mileage is below par but engine feels unstressed atleast in lower speeds which is good bit about it. RTR is a powerful bike which is a great product from TVS and would give you some nice fun. But if you can extend your budget by 10-12K then P200NS it is. You'll get evrything you thought of. All 3 of them would return more or less the same mileage but P200NS is a powerbike with a bigger engine.
Test ride all before you buy and make a wise decision.
