  • Bike for a girl

    Hi Everyone,

This post is on behalf of my friend, she is 5'7'' and 60kg. Surprisingly she wants to go for a bike that typically ridden by guys. She has no experience on gear vehicles. But can learn quickly. She is used to Honda activa and on a given day she can beat few 100,110cc bikes in traffic easily. She will be using the bike for daily commute to office. She can spend around 80-100k.

I suggested her tvs jive as they promise of hassle free gear shifting, but I don't see may of those bikes in the road, is this a failure model. Also as she can spend much more than that, I need your advice for her. Ideal bike would be

    1. Lighter one to handle in parking.
    2. Decent speed (she likes to be around 60-70 mostly)
    3. Looks has to be great ( she is a sucker for looks)

    your advices please.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

    Topic Approved.

I believe that FZ would be a great first bike for her... The wider tyres, good handling, a comfortable ride, acceptable seat height, lower gearing, etc. will play their part in getting her accustomed to the vehicle with the least hiccups.

But if she's thinking long term future proof partner, P200 NS could be it.

In any case, Just don't choose her a bike which has only kick start, or high seat height.

I think the FZ-16 or the RTR160 will be great options, if you want more power and okay with less mileage you can check out the ABS RTR or the P200NS.

No doubt or second thoughts the best bet she's got is the RTR ABS.

            With priorities:
            - looks
            - weight
            - Ok speed

            Choices should be:
            - FZ
            - RTR series
            (on higher side of budget)
            - Discover ST (it looks good to me)
            - Stunner
            (with extra moolah saved)

I would suggest the FZ or the RTR.

Reasons being [1] Resonably light in weight for a motorcycle [135-136 kgs] [2] Both have low seat height [790 mm]

The 2012 RTR has gone through a facelift which some may say to be a botched up cosmetic job. If your friend is ok with the styling, then she can consider it.. else I think the FZ should be the choice here.

The Pulsar 200NS will be heavier [145 Kgs] and has a taller seat height [805 mm].. I know it might be "Definitely Male" but I wouldn't recommend the Pulsar 200NS to a lady.

Maybe she can try checking out the Pulsar 135LS. It also has a low seat height and is quite light [122 kgs], got very good handling and has a rev friendly engine as well.

Stunner or RTR would be the best.

I dont really think a girl would like the FZ's macho imposing looks, of for that matter it would look good under her.

Would suggest light bikes like P135LS, Hero Impulse or perhaps FZ-16.

These are all pretty good with handling & breaking. Barring FZ-16, other two should return good mileage figures.

Without a doubt Pulsar135ls... Light weight, good topend, fantastic mileage.. Whatelse do you need??

The only other bike I'd suggest would be a R15v1. Girls are really comfortable riding. For them the handle is light to swing at parking speeds and the bikes easily flickable at higher revs..And they think its cool too! Girls!!!

Like everyone said.. Fz16 or the RTR.. Have seen & know many girls riding this..
Even P135 should be a good option considering its light weight..
I think the main factor here would be, no doubt the looks..

Is she serious, by the way
Well, P135 LS for being super light with almost at par performance of a 150CC. (Doesn't have tubeless tyres though)
Apache RTR, again 150 & light.
FZ has maximum performance within this segment. Light & Nimble.

I don't see her investing so much on a bike (a hunch, you may say)
She can also try the 125 CC segment. I guess, that will be the best segment for her.

                            Great inputs,

I think the fz would not impress her, for its looks. From the inputs, I think following would be ideal for her to consider

                            1. RTR (2012 series) - small and light considering other contenders in the segment.
                            2. P135 - Looks are cool, light and enough power, for her requirements.

will ask her to TS them and take it from there.

                            thanks.

                              How about RE

At the risk of sounding weird for this suggestion - here is my suggestion !

If she is ok with a little heavy one, may be she should test ride a Royal Enfield C350, or Electra UCE

                              Regards,
