Since she can spend more I'd say the R15. As opposed to what it looks like, the R15 is quite rider friendly. Because of its design, it gives more room for error correction.

I have owned an FZ and an R15, but Version 1. My younger sister tried riding both since she was keen to learn. She's about 5 feet 5, skinny and weighs around 50 kg. She could easily take to the R15 than the FZ. She had to give up due to parental pressure against riding it.

The kerb weights of the two bikes differ marginally, but the design and geometry makes all the difference. I have not tried the V2, cant comment on that, but if she's someone who would not take a pillion to often, a girl as keen to own a motorbike would look as cool on a V2, and in all probability end up riding it as well too.

Alternatively she could try the Avenger, if shes on the shorter side. Just a matter of choice, I would not recommend an RTR, but I would not discourage either. Every bike holds its own.

PS: If she is expected to look after her bike, please suggest her something which is easy to maintain(service intervals, spare part availability etc.). Less troublesome for anyone who is starting with his or her first motorbike.

I see people are supporting in R15. Was just thinking will a girl who is riding a gearless sccoter till date would love the R15 riding position ??
I see her inclined towards geared bike, but with good riding position. FZ or SZ-r or GS150r along with P150/135 even DiscoverST will be a better choice for her, But R15 ??

All knows R15 is a passion!!But has a bad point in city traffic, wrist and hands start paining, So will she be able to keep up with that thing? Or something which is more easy to ride in city and good on highways too.

FZ or P200NS are two appropriate options if the budget can't be increased to buy an R15..

All of you who are suggesting R15: its a great bike but what about the riding posture... Even some newbie boys have problem with it, so can a girl really make it her first bike?

The initial wrist pain, the backache, will she be strong enough to bear it? Only that girl can tell, because each person is different. And leave the initial, will it serve as a good long term bike for her? I doubt that a bit.

Now we may love seeing a girl on a R15, but it doesn't mean the girl will want all that attention, and choose R15 for it.

I suggest P200 and FZ still. They're "suitable".

Guy's just though about this, when she rides the bike she'd be happy, but the next day morning when it doesnt start wont she panic? Cause thats what happened to me, cause my ZMA was the first bike I've got to properly use in my LIFE, and was'nt aware about the Choke and its uses, have also made errors like flooding the carb by too much chocking and the bike refused to start no matter what. So would'nt it be apt for her to opt for a Fi trouble free bike? After all ultimately it comes down to the fact that she's a GIRL, and girls are real bad when it comes to technical stuff.

A girl will more than enough attention even if she is riding a splendor, whether she likes it or not(I think so, not sure of metros)I say she need a bike which is light weight and capable of cruising at 70-80 such as Yamaha Gladiator SS,p135/New Disco etc... having heaps of low end torque won't hurt either.
Most girls find it difficult to take an Activa from parking lot so weight is very important factor

But this girl seems to be made of Harder stuff!

Absolutely correct. Since FZ is ruled out then the only suitable option I think which is left here is RTR 180 ABS.

Check the post by TS, it's Apache that's ruled out, not FZ it's between P135 & FZ now.
