but if you say Dio was running more than RE then it's little un digestible. Don't know what's tru or what's false, but RE not going eve over 85kmph is something very problematic.

I would nt be too surprised. Firstly The Bullet may be an older one not well maintained.

Plus my search tells me electra and thunderbird both hit 60kmph from 0 in around 8 seconds where as a dio hits in 10 seconds. Infact the quarter mile for both dio and the above said bullets are separated by 2 seconds only. But any Dio rider can more or less match that performance since its auto transmission and all that the rider needs to do is flip the throttle. Bullet rider in order to extract the same 0to60 timings would need to shift at optimum rpm which totally depends on rider skill.

Thirdly and most important point, the bulletteer for all you know may not be interested in racing with you. Happens quite often with me too in my Avy. Specially at signals. After the signal turning green, I normally take off fast and settle down at a speed of around 50-60 Ks and cruise. Wannabe racers seeing me take off think I m inviting them to race and zip past me looking at me to answer their racing call. I just smirk and ride along at my own pace, after all public roads are not for racing.

So quite possible that the bulleteer was not even interested in racing with you. What you interpreted as a drag must be run of the mill for him.. Who knows?

In this case 50k is not a bad number at all. You need to share other info of the bike, like its condition, looks, status of paint and chrome, if those are decent enough, you can go for it. Your hatred might dissappear too, who knows .

I mentioned it was an unexpected drag race. The whole drag race journey was 6 kms and it was not highway. It was a normal road and there were no traffic signals between these 6 kms. He overtook me at 60 km/hr one or two times and I gave him the answer with 85-90 km/hr. He was feeling bit embarrassed. Actually I love racing, if anyone pokes me surely I'll try my best. The bullet guy was just showing off getting past normal bikers. That's why I wanted to have a try on him and I thought surely I will be the loser but I knew I had 85-90 km/hr range with me and so there is no harm in trying. Yes as you thought, the bullet was old and there were also two people. I think he couldn't go past 80 km/hr, because I clearly remember I smoked him at 85 km/hr and he gave up.

I know that bullet is certainly not slower than Honda Dio but if 102cc can stand to a 350cc then I think it's better I pick a 150 cc atleast to satisfy myself.

Nicely said, people like you are some of the bullteers who convinced me that not all bullteers are bullies, and all those years I loved the bullet but never wanted to own one as I never wanted to get a bully image in the road, and I felt and convinced one could be very gentle and cool riding this beast, and now I am closing in the waiting period and will become a bullteer soon too

3. Type of insurance.
4. PUC? period.
5. RC books details, like is it really on your friends name and completely transferred??
6. one test ride report of the bike.

Fine, but I seriously doubt that kinda cornering (100kmph with less than 45 deg) can be done any indian bike? May be something like Ninja or CBR can do? I am sure apaches and old pulsars cant do it.

That clarified a long-standing doubt in my mind. I have always had that tiny, but niggling streak in my mind - I always had this thought deep down somewhere in my mind if a RE would actually give me some kind of unfelt pleasure. 90 out of 100 times, I'd blip down, flash my passlight, open my throttle pass that lone, thumping RE without a second glance. But there would be days when I'd stop in the parking lot to admire that all-black TB500, and would think to myself - am I missing something? I don't know, and I can never know.

@TS My advice for you would be to stay away from the Bullet, unless you really love the machine. If you go for it without that love, you will be greatly disappointed. It doesn't matter whether the bikes run 5000k or 500ks. It depends whether you like the Bullet and its style of riding. As you have mentioned that you have hated them all this time before, it is not wise to pick them up now.

I myself used to love bullets by their looks and dreamt of getting one, but when I rode one, I was very much dissatisfied and frustrated. I've decided that it is not a bike that will suit me or my riding style, and have taken it off my list. But I am not a hater though if someone calls other bikes as craps or japanese made plastics, I wouldn't take it lightly. The japs are some of the greatest innovators in motorcycling industry. The only reason I see why RE still has some sales to survive them is because of the absence of a true competitor. The japs and other manufacturers have their own share of cruisers, but not in the price/cc range for our market. If the Honda or some other japs start manufacturing 500cc/350cc cruisers, do you think RE will have good sales compared to them? Think.

90% of the 'japbikers' do not hate bulleteers. We do not hate any biker, for that matter. But 90% of the bulleteers have some notion in their head that other bikers are inferior to them.

If i am about to get a bullet i'd choose a second hand heavy crank real thumper. And would be willing to do all the maintenance it need and 'll love riding it in the mid 50s' but with a thump! New ones are nowhere near the real old ones.
