These problems they are talking about may not be strictly related to batteries.Carburetted bikes , even though with batteries alright sometimes face this problem. It is due to fuel getting viscous in the lines due to cold..My Suzuki GS150[earlier bike] also needed at least 2 attempts sometimes to start on cold mornings.Originally posted by Kiran@Hyd View Post

"no kick start" cant be considered as a negative point....remember cars dont have kick start...i m having p150 since last 4 years, you wont believe that self is more reliable than the kick start, atleast in my case...lol....i was running to svc now and then to sort this....even now i have to kick 3-4 times to start the bike whereas using the self, it comes to life at once....still the bike is running on stock battery (exide freedom-9AH).
What i want to point is that if you maintain your battery properly, it wont cause you starting problem. As pointed above battery doesn't die suddenly. It will start to give symptoms much earlier prior to its death...
As far as NS200 is considered it has a good battery (8Ah i presume).
but for a lady pillion, i dont think it will be comfortable (subjective)
Better have a test ride with the pillion, if possible...

I am a proud owner of GS@16300KM on odo(almost 2 years of ownership).
Pros :
1. GS is a very good bike without much maintenance.
2. Mileage in Hyd city is 53-60KMPL for me.
Cons :
1. SVC's are lesser compared to others. I usually do all my services at SABOO Suzuki (SecBad) only.
2. Spare parts only available in SVC's. This may not be a problem as GS doent require replacement of parts easily.
Regarding NS, I have not done any TD. I think its very sporty engine.
Bajaj spares are cheap in cost and require high maintanence compared to any japanese maker
+ve for NS is Wide network all over india.
Both GS and NS are belongs to different segments. They never match in any element from CC to performence.
Do the test ride and decide your self.

My initial options are CBZ Extreme(No Kick Start), Discover 125ST(Monoshocks , New model, But Not proven), GS 150R, Pulsar 200 NS(Less Mileage of All and No Kick Start). Now mostly I will go for GS150. Will be buying the bike this month. keep giving your opinions so that it would help me in picking the correct bike.
BTW, Looks , Long life and Mileage(Minumum 40+) are my requirements.Last edited by Kiran@Hyd; 08-11-2012, 07:13 PM.

according to you discover and cbz extreme is out of question........it seems that you are more inclined towards the GS........go for it.....Originally posted by Kiran@Hyd View PostHi,
I want to buy a bike(Minimum 150CC) which has good build quality and lasts long(nearly 10 years )..........
I am stuck between Suzuki GS 150R and Pulsar 200 NS
.........
Note: I am not interested in any other bikes...........
Could you please suggest which bike is VFM , better for my scenario among the 2 bikes and why (Pros and cons).
As far as VFM is considered, personally i think NS has more VFM than GS....build quality of ns is really promising.....lets see .....fingers crossed

Why are you behind "No Kick Start"?? Now mostly all people are moving towards kick less vehicles and you are getting laid by it.Originally posted by Kiran@Hyd View PostYeah Mostly I will be going for GS150.

If you promise the manufacturer that after buying you won't change the battery ever in the life of bike, then i guess it's a problem else i don't see any problem with it?? I am using R15 from past 2 yrs and with that small battery of R15 i never faced the issues of Kick less start. Before battery gets kaput it will show it on display or some signs, then change it to new, simple. Why to kick the choices only for kickless issues??
GS 150r is indeed a nice bike!!
And there is nothing called long life!! It's you who want your bike to stay how long!! Maintain it, it will be with you!!

lack of kick start should not be a reason to reject a bike .. i would rather pay extra to get rid of the kick start ..all the bikes i have owned never had kick starts and not even once in the last 5years i have faced any problem while starting the engine .. it always starts up without any hesitation even if i crank it after giving it 7 days rest ..Originally posted by Kiran@Hyd View PostYeah Mostly I will be going for GS150.

i think you are looking for mileage of 40+ on regular basis .. just go for gs ..
ns is for people who can spend more on fuel and empty their pockets for an exciting ride ..

if you're planning to keep a bike for 10 years get a popular bike. why ? because after 4-5 years you'll need to service regularly and finding spares for bikes that are not popular can be real pain in the ass. i ride an RXZ myself and its extremely hard to find spares like body panel / headlights / silencer etc , even though spares of RX100 & RX 100 are still available. So i'd suggest in favor of Pulsar NS over any suzuki . you can be sure that atleast spares will be available .also GS is already getting old and maybe replaced in next 2-3 years with new model.
and dont bother so much about electric start. in practical usage this is rarely a problem . besides its not like you cant bump start in case of extreme emergency.
