  • P180 fits my needs??

    HEy guys,

first of all, thankyou in advance. I'm in a fix here. I've been riding the Honda CB twister since Feb '11. I am extremely happy with it in terms of performance and mileage in its class. My daily commute is about 26kms. I clock about 50-60kms on the weekends on a small ride. I love riding my bike, especially on the highway. I also go to the city once in a while and Bangalore traffic is one of the worst. In all this my 110cc helped out. But I have outgrown the bike in terms of satisfaction. Everytime I find myself craving for another gear, and lesser struggling on top end speeds. The bike isn't meant for long drives and I love taking long rides.

So I've decided to go for a bike that can get me there. After a lot of deliberation I've zeroed down to the pulsar 180cc. I'm not very particular about looks, but I wont go for ugly either. My budget cant go over 85-90k. I want some speed n power, but I cant forgo mileage as I commute daily too. Most of all, I'm only 171cm tall. And almost everytime I have a pillion rider. So pillion comfort is also important. What is important for me is a slightly sporty riding posture. I'm not talking aggressive like the R15. Just a little forward oriented just coz I love to go fast, and sitting upright is just not done. One last factor is maintenance. My Twister came with NO MAINTENANCE issues. But since its a 110cc I can understand that. I also want a bike that isnt too hard to maintain, and also will not give me a hefty bill when I give it to the SVC (I am regular when it comes to servicing my ride).

So based on the following criteria:
    1.Mileage - 45-55kmpl.
2.Power output - Balanced between torque and top speed.
    3.Rider and Pillion comfort.
4.Riding posture - Sporty and forward oriented but not overly aggressive.
5.Maintenance Costs - As low as possible(I understand they wont be like maintaining a 110cc)
    6.Budget - 85-90k.
I chose the P180. Is it the ryt choice? The Apache 180 was also on the list till it got the new makeover. I do not like it. So I scrapped it. Please do read thru this and advice as necessary!
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

    Topic Approved.

Bajaj is one of the best brands if you're looking for looks, mileage and service cost.

Another good choice is RTR 180 which is slightly faster and better handling, but with slightly worse mileage, about 3-5 kmpl lesser than P180.

Another good alternative is Karizma but again, it won't give you the mileage you want.

I suggest: you go for P180. I have a P180 too, albeit an older generation, UG3. Current one is UG4.

Was about to type in RTR180 ABS!! but read the last line in your post not too sure about it's OTR price in Bangalore. But, that would be a good alternative to P180. As Samarth noted, mileage would be less than P180. As such P180 is not a bad choice, there isn't much choice in 180cc, coz the only other bike is Apache and you don't like it!

You gain on mileage with P180, if you are not much into cornering i.e. not the type who enjoys taking corners at high speeds, then there isn't much you are losing in going with P180. Apache's advantage is that it's handling is good compared to P180.

When i read your full post i see you are happy with the average of Twister which is anytime over >65kmpl.
But now you are graduating yourself from 110cc to some power n speed with a budget of 85-90k.
In this budget you are right with P180, But the mielage is not correct, P180 won't give you >40 kmpl in city anytime. on highway you will get 40-45kmpl. Most of us here would recommend you to put only more 9K to 90k so that you can get a better machine i.e NS200, new tech and looks of pulsar with amazing features i.e radiator, imp for long drive, Dual Disc brake, imp for braking and ride on high speed.

BTW what speed are you expecting to graduate?? >100kmph or 110kmph is fine with you ??

If so, then Frazer is also one of the best touring bike with proven performance and comfort.

P.S.: RTR 180 ABS is one of the best bike that one can buy in <1L. But you din't like the looks.
Actually P180 or P220 don't have that semi sports posture, RTR has it!
Dual Disc is always a + point in any requirement!!

When there is NS200 and Duke 200 then very likey one of the model would get lost in future from P180 or P220. So choose wisely!!
