  • **HELP** P180/220 or Karizma or KEEP MY EXISTING RE 350CI

***HELLO FRIENDS***. My name is Mahesh and i am a new member here, though i have been following xbhp for years toghether.

I need your PLEASE. I am in a very confusing state.

I am about to buy my FIFTH bike within my 2 years of biking experience

    My bio data:
    Name: Mahesh
    Age : 20
    Height: 6ft 2in
    Weight:80 Kg
    Build: Moderate
    Residence: small town in (karnataka)
    Occupation:engineering student

    Bikes owned previoulsy: (Now Sold)
    1)Honda CBF stunner (2010)
    2)HH CBZ Xtreme (2011)
    3)Honda CB Unicorn(2012)
    4)RE Bullet 350 CI (1999)>>>CURRENT<<<<

I am very very passionate about bikes. I take care of my vehicles thoroughly.
The reason because i had to change so frequently because i could not select proper bike for my taste and requirements

I had bought second hand bullet (mentioned above) 1999 model from Panvel, Mumbai for RS.30,000/-. It was in a moderate running condition. It is U.P registered.

    Now for its complicated part
The papers of the bike is in a complicated manner.
    1) Duplicate RC book (sheet form).
    2) transfer order form with signature of owner.
    3) police order form certifying bike has no police case.

these documents mentioned above are present with the bike. And all these documents are in pathetic physical condition. They are soiled
Another horrific fact is that its engine number was grinded and changed to match the RC book.

I did not know any of these facts before buying( 2 months ago). I was conned

NOW What to do with this bullet? do i sell it? who will buy it without proper papers?

the moment i rode a Bullet, i knew that bullets were just made for me. I just loved them. I knew DIY ,maintained my bullet with utmost passion and care.

Now........... there is a complicated decision to be made

So at last What should I do?? Sell off at any price offered and buy :
    1) Pulsar 180
    2) pulsar 220
    3) Karizma-R

    or else... keep the bullet

my budget will be Rs.90,000/- My running of bike is low. monthly 1000Km or less. I need bit bit of everything: comfort (my height 6.2) , power, smooth engine, reliability, Fuel efficient, and resale value. I will keep this bike for minimum 4 years. I maintain the bike with maximum care.

Thank you for reading my looong post

    Topic Approved.

I suggest you to keep it legal.

Sell the bike and go for a Karizma R. Its the closest to the Royal Enfield, among the bikes you listed. As a Plus point, its refined and reliable. Of course, no substitute for a Royal Enfield here, but Karizma is closer than many other bikes...

Because you see, one accident due to anyone's mistake, and you'll be exposed. Police may not check documents regularly, but they definitely do so, in case of an accident or complaint. I suggest you to stay safe, and go in for another RE or a Karizma.

Simple, take the ZMA if you are a sedate rider.
If you like ripping the road apart, get a P220...

Sell the bull right away!!! Seems its illegal.

Get rid of your current ride! as for selecting a new bike, list down your requirements. What kind of rider are you? going by your previous bikes, you seem to like Honda products a lot, so go with Karizma-R.

Though I suggested him the ZMA, I feel the TS needs some maturity.
He's 20, a college student. All his previous bikes were good machines.
He sold them off saying they were not his type.

ZMA is a 10 year old model. Its a great bike, no doubt but who know the TS might get bored with it too.

                Thank you all

                @Samrath, THanks man

@Divya, My bullet is actually legal, but i have to travel and spend lots of money to transfer the documents to my state. Also the owner of that bike is dead

@somen, @Divya, thank you for reading my query. I am not unstable as you might think. I had to sell those bikes due to some unavoidable personal circumstances...

@ ALL :- and every time i had enough money to buy a bike I thought that That bike would be my bike for atleast 10 years LOL. But i always knew I liked only bullets. But due to financial arrangement i could not buy. And i dont like taking loan on a bike. i bought them all using MY OWN HARD EARNED MONEY by paying them wads of cash

@vrugonnab, thanks. I like the quality of ENGINES they produce very much.

and requirements are already mentioned man I need bit bit of everything: comfort (my height 6.2) , power, smooth engine, reliability, Fuel efficient, and resale value. I will keep this bike for minimum 4 years. I maintain the bike with maximum care.

@pricesirohi, Man as i have mentioned the paper part of the bullet is a bit complicated. It requires a lot of time and money and still success is not sure..

@ALL: Please suggest me.. how is pulsar 180 compared to karizma??

P180 is indeed a nice bike, but just fir 10K why not miss the more power and Dual Disc ??

P180 is good in pickUp and speed also and most of it, it's uncommon on road. Wide tyres are awesome. Average is same to Karizma.

Karizma is more refined then P180. a perfect tourer+city bike. and a Hero name.

I wold suggest for P220 or Karizma only, but not P180.

@somen1984: Zmr is not liquid cooled, its oil cooled.

THE WING RIDER: From your requirement. Go for the Zma-R. For a casual rider, Zma-R offers one of the best comfort for a rider your size. Besides it has decent torque for added bonus.

Karizma is no doubt a good option, however as it costs more or less similar to P220, I would recommend P220. The Torque, the shove that you get is something you got to experience.
Its a complete VFM package. The kind of performance you get at that price is unbeatable. I have been using P220 Dtsi for more than 3 years (approx 30K km), and the ownership experience has been very pleasant.
Also, with P220 you get awesome Bajaj Customer Service, even though Service Centers may or may not be good, a mail to Bajaj takes care of all the issues.
Also, spares of P220 are quite cheap, not that you will need it too often.
The fact that my 220 is Joeled (at 10K km) and it still runs perfectly fine, proves a lot about its reliability.

                        Thanks again, friends.

                        @somen: thanks man

@kaynmantis: thank you for your advice

More and more details about the usage of the bike now :
                        1) I use the bike daily, for 10Km for average. (light traffic)
                        2) I atleast need comfort for my frame
                        3) Please clarify the Fuel efficient of all 3 bikes.
                        4) Dont curse me but do you all think a New bullet STD 350 UCE suits me?
( I just loved the old CI ) and I know a lot of DIY for CI Bulls.

Now for the price part: (on road)
                        1) pulsar 180 : 85k
                        2) pulsar 220 : 96K
                        3) Karizma R : 96K
                        4) Bull STD : 115k

In my town the details of Authorized Sales and Service guys
                        1) bajaj : Channamma bajaj :- always busy guys, least care for the customers(either sales or service), no test drives ( always give reasons ), they get 200 bikes daily for service and they service them all. God knows HoW!!!

                        2) Hero : chadha motors :- kinda OK for me ( As i had CBZ xtreme earlier, I know the service-OK, sales-good , spares-OK and resale value-good) do the job moderately. all young mechanic chaps. Also I am worried of what might happen to the service and spares once after 2014 after close down of all our models???

                        3) Now, our hon'ble RE fellows : Salimath engineers :- Just bullshit people to be frank LOL A single 50 year old lady attends curious RE customers it is more of a shop than showroom. almost nil service (2 mechanics), no spares. waiting= 5 months for STD Bull.

**ALSO PLEASE CLARIFY ME THE MAINTENANCE ISSUES OF PULSARS** **AND FUEL EFFICIENCY OF ALL BIKES**

                        REGARDS, Mahesh

man i think that you are making a big mistake selling that Bullet.
Because no other bike can even come near that old one. Not even the new bullets.

Also it means that if you buy a new bike, you will end up spending at least 80k.
Get the bike transferred in your name, by taking help of a dalal. They can do it. Go to indiranagar( if you are in bangalore), and you will find a lot of them.
You will spend hardly some 5-6k for this.

Also if the bullet is in good condition, then i dont think you have to sell it.
                          And one more thing.
Once you ride a bullet, you will not like any other bike for sure, just because of the shear torque present in the engine.

And here in bangalore people are ready to buy CI bullets for 1 Lac also. So why are you selling it off.

And if you have an outside number, and a NOC, then no police can stop you now a days. The supreme court had given a decision that people with the NOC does not have to pay the taxes again. So no doubt about that.

I would suggest just transfer the bike to your name, and then keep it.
All the other bikes may be good, but BULLET is always a BULLET.

Well your previous bikes already got a bit of whatever you were looking for, but seriously you should go with P220. That might be the change you are looking for. May be you can give a shot to P200NS if budget is manageable.

If your're Fairing lover then go for P220 or Karizma R but still in that segment NS is a hot babe. Drive it am sure next day you're bullet would be on sale!!
