  • Which Bike I should buy

    Hi Guys

I want to purchase a lightweight bike

    here are my requirements

    1) The most important factor is weight, Due to some health reasons I am not comfortable with heavy bikes.

    2) Side storage box

    3) Sporty look

    4) Budget could spend upto 60ks

    5) electric start

So far I have seen Dream yuga, Twister , Tvs star sport.I am very much inclined towards Hayate

Hayate is the way to go for you I guess. Its extremely light, the gearbox is butter smooth and size is small as well.

No 125s on the shortlist? Any particular reason? If weight is the consideration, you could still include Honda Shine / Discover 125 DTSi as these are also reasonably light bikes at 120kg or a bit less. The Discover will easily fit in the budget though Shine may require stretching (depending upon your location)

I have discovered a chink in the Hayate's seemingly flawless Armor!! Actually 2.

        1:
The Hayate disappointingly deploys a tubular swingarm at the back, this being a dated specification in this day and age, when almost every Indian motorcycle has long since switched to the superior rigidity of a box section swingarm. Its light handling is a boon in the congested traffic conditions, but stability is iffy when cornering, the bike easily shifting around disconcertingly on road undulations, that is surely due to the antiquated swingarm.
        2:
Fuel economy could be better, this commuter bike giving us 51.9kpl in city riding conditions, and 53.3kpl during our highway economy tests.

Given the pricing, at ~10k less than Dream Yuga, #1 can be excused. But #2 ?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I would also suggest you to take a look at the Honda Shine.IT offers a lot of torque at low revs, making for an interesting ride in the city..
About the side storage boxes, I am a bit apprehensive about them as they cause instability at speeds. They also affect the center of gravity of the motorcycle.Plus they form sticking out appendages so, negotiating tight traffic might be cumbersome..

mostly all comes with a self start!! Do consider 125cc too. I would suggest for 100cc please don't go for Honda, as there are priced higher as compare to other bikes. Go with Hero or Bajaj.

I guess Yamaha SS and TVS Slingshot have some what sporty looks!! Check that!!

It's not just weight that matters, one has to consider how the weight is distributed for ex:-Slingshot is about 129kg but will feel lighter than Hero passion pro which's actual weight is less than SS.Also even the lightest of the bike will feel heavy like a bullet when it is tilted for an average person.

Honda unicorn can be a good choice. Take a test ride of both the hayate n' unicorn , also check out the new discover with mono suspension.

Platina is not coming in self start anymore Hero and discover look too common

Yes I wanted to purchase Twister but then I stepped on this forum found some posts that Side storage box cannot be fitted .I even called the dealer and his reply too was that the box may not fit in twister

hmm.... I doubt there are any sporty looks bike in 60k.
Slightly better look than normal bikes will also work

Have you ever looked at hero bike series? The ignitor? Not as heavy as stunner, but is light and has sporty looks and i guess you can attach a side box as you can for almost all hero products..

Nope. From my sources it says its from 116kgs to 126kg. The difference is between kick and that of self.. Google it and search for the rite sources

Additionally bikes with less saddle heights will feel more lighter and easier to handle(I think so, ride one to find out).BTW what exactly is your health problem??

@antz.bin:SVC at my place claims upto 80kmpl for Hayate,
maybe 50-52 is mileage before engine is properly broken in.
