Rode both, not extensively but surely worth providing my two cents.

Hyosung GT650

Brutal and enough to get your balls in mouth, the posture demands you to be in shape. A fat belly might not work that great the way a good physique would do. Aggressive styling and has that big bike feel. Engine is quite rough, not comparing with any other bike but the overall power delivery is quite harsh, feel that grunt sliding under your pants. Over 140 the bike losses everything that its designed for and provides that awesome feel of owning a 600cc bike untill you hit 180kmph when everything starts looking risky. The bike is good but somewhere the built quality takes over your mind that it can break or shatter any minute, just an illusion yet you will surpass 190 or 200 with ease.

I have no clue where Hyosung is heading in India, parts, service, trust is all like a mirage. Investing in this bike would be madness and worth the risk, not for the quality or performance of the bike which is so good but about the brand staying here in India for more because it has already been through owners like Kinetic, Garware and now DSK. Future of the bike lies in dust and anything might happen, go for it you have short term goals and it wont disappoint you.

Kawasaki Ninja 650R

A tourer's weapon, from its stance to its shouting, everything is programmed for this bike. Most of them say heating is an issue and your legs are baked in an oven, My question to such people is who the F told you to ride an SBK without taking proper care? (Shorts or Trousers ). Bikes like these demand respect, period. Power delivery is quick, the posture on this bike is quite relaxed and that's where it starts hitting you right under the belt. Since, you are not leaned forward and are in a relaxed position the jerking created by accelerating and braking might be felt. I was riding in the city and was bit embarrassed to go forward and backward like a linear actuator. But yes, this bike and the owner can actually vanish from the scene in no time, I mean at 4,000rpm its maddening, dramatic, overwhelming just because you are high up above the ground and have no clue of what's going on under your bums, pretty good and steady acceleration. It wont give you that revy engine feel just because you would reach that speed that you ever wondered very quickly, the GT on the other hand will let you know precisely who is mating inside the engine when the piston is moving up and down. Go for this one if you have no intentions of changing your bike for another 3 years, the technology thrown in the machine is fantastic, (Hysoung lacks in it). You have everything in it, the feel is also good when churning three digits on the highway.

Conclusion
The GT is like is a weekend woman, you live up and go through the hell those 5 days just to get that excitement, you don't mind sacrificing those 5 days because it cannot be compared with anything, its rough, its masculine and powerful enough to deliver those speeds that you desire. Maintenance would be an issue but if you have the money don't think twice.

The Ninja on the other is a practical bike that can be ridden everyday and will give you that extra punch every time, very stable. Coming up to the comparison aspect, go for this one if you have no plans for shifting, it will last long, it is a tradition, chuck attention on road, its a delight riding this machine. My R15 was tiring compared to the Ninja in the city. Reliability factor exists in this one, its not a short term bike, yes your future kids will adore this bike.

Me having the money would go for green...
Why - I'm bit conservative, At the end of my happiness yes I would also like to secure my future financial plans.
So - I do get the fun factor of riding the big bike yet I'm happy that the company wont just pack up and leave, Also, no one has seen tomorrow or things that are on cards or in pipeline, what is there now is the actual thing. Frankly I'm not convinced with the fact that Hyosung plans to build parts here and there to reduce pricing and overall service. This is related to the brand and not the bike, the GT is an awesome machine at the end of the day but in comparison with the things associated and the price a sure no no.

Trust me it's way different. I guess the new N250/300 is some where close to N650 from front, but from side it's a blind out game, any one can make it.
Daytona will come in or close to 6L ??

Ain't HD Super low very different from your choice ??

From where RE came into picture ??

Bro buy anything but make a wise deicison, becuase any model you choose would be over 5L and RE is close to 2L so think before investment.

My 650 is amongst the first few in the country and have clocked about 20k Kms so far. If you're into touring, long distance riding or even mild off- roading, this is THE bike for you. My kms have been clocked only on the highways and abt 2k on track ( for fun, not serious racing ) If you want the looks and stance of a sports bike - it's the GT. however, pay heed that its only looks.

Ease of top end, handling on highways, braking, etc., are all in the Ninja's favour. Have ridden long distance with GT's several times in burst mode and have never been overtaken. I've also played babysitter for a friends GT when he was out of country and ridden the Hyosung quite a bit too, about 1200 kms - Kawasaki quality, reliability, service, etc., are far ahead of the Korean IMO.

I too want to pick up a super sports in addition to my N650 for speed runs on track but would prefer to spend the money on a Daytona when it arrives.

I own a 2012 Ninja 650 and have also ridden GT 650 few times, though cant say much about HYOSUNG, what i can add from my experience with the NINJA 650 goes like this -

1) A very versatile bike , can be ridden the way you want , take it to work , weekend ride , highway blast, it feels at home everywhere, barring maybe a race track.
2) Exceptional build quality , feels and looks like a premium bike (pics dont do justice) unlike Hyosung which has poor finishing at certain places (no offence).
3) Riding position is very very comfortable and it has still margin to move around till the rider finds a comfortable position.
4) Very refined and a very calm exhaust note till 6k rpm ,which though many would consider a negative but when touring it greatly reduces noise fatigue.
5) The ASS of KTM (Bajaj probiking) is a huge plus point.
6) Bike is seriously fast and wont scare you like i4 litre class SBKs , you can actually enjoy its acceleration without getting intimidated by it.
7) lots of after market upgrades available for customising as per the owners need.
8) Decent fuel economy , im getting 22 kmpl in city and 26 kmpl on highways easily.

The only point of concern i feel is the brakes , they feel spongy , lack bite and dont inspire confidence , infact i have managed to lock the wheels a couple of times on sudden and hard braking , wish they had given ABS as an option.

Overall i would say a very good bike and complete value for money.

Daytona could be launched in mid of 2013......that's a very long wait for me

on the tech side, why take a chance when there is a proven product with zero vibes and a highly accepted brand is at your offering

Looks like you've already made up your mind - you're obviously in for the sports bike look and feel and not a tourer! Enjoy the Hyosung!

you r right....was bowled over by seeing and riding Hyosung.

But, thinking of being practical in all perspective of the bike as i want to have this bike for long run.

My long years have taught me one thing - sometimes you have to lead with your heart and not your head.

That said, if you want to have the bike for a long time and are concerned about things like maintenance and resale, the Kwacker is by far the better choice.

Bike to buy : Hyosung GT 650r or Kawasaki Ninja 650r?

Just a quick check with N650 owners: I also plan to ride to office on some days. In Mumbai traffic. Engine too hot to handle?
N has anybody changed the exhaust so far?

Bike is yet to be finalised

But, my biggest problem have been now sorted out.

DSK Hyosung has opened there showroom and service centre in Nagpur.

I would recommend Ninja over a Hyosung anyday. Better build and better after sales and service.

Every point is true here... You forgot the naked GT... it's also very comfy for long distance. I wish that green machine would have come with a V-twin Believe me once you fall in love with a V-twin you cant settle for anything else, The Kawasaki motors are superbly refined but unexciting. The V-twin roars like nothing else. Still given a chance again I'll go for the green one just for the sake of quality and peace of mind plus the resell value.
