Perfect bike for me under 1 lakh
Hi, this is Arnab, a mid-built guy of 5'9'' and 62 kgs. I am fond of riding bikes and would like to have a fun-to-ride bike with awesome pick up and speed. But most necessarily the engine should be reliable and smooth as I've to use it for more or less 6 years and I don't like noisy or vibrating engines at all. My budget is 70k-1 lakh max. My basic use may be in town, but I like to go for long rides, so I need a bike with good handling qualities. Please help me with your experiences.Tags: None

Thread ApprovedAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The 200ns and the p220 are the bikes for you. If you like to save a few bucks, the P180 isnt that bad either.
BUT and thats a big but, what is your definition of a "noisy" and "vibrating" engine?? I have an Apache rtr 180 ABS. The bike was rumored to vibrate a lot. I agree there are vibrations, but I dont find it to bother me. Antz.bin(the mod who approved your thread) on the other hand was not very happy with the vibrations(saying this based on his first impression of the vehicle).
So, please define your requirements clearly and most importantly - TEST RIDE all the vehicles suggested without any hesitation.Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.
Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

There are few bikes within your budget. But I can assure, there is no bike which has awesome power, handling, vibrationless etc. Some of my inputs are :
1. Pulsar 200NS - This is the byfar the best Pulsar ever made(ateast heard so). Good city bike, punchy engine, good looks, latest tech, good pick-up and accelaration.
2. Karizma - The bulletproof engine over the ages, first choice for tourers, the torqey engine makes a fun in city, awesome handler, but lacks instant pick-up and outdated model and technology. But reliable enough to serve u for more than 6 - 7 yrs.
3. Apache 160 / 180 - The racing DNA induced bike...awesome pick-up. Pops wheelies unknowingly, you will love it. But people do talk about its vibrations but I found them quite manageble.
Go for testride...and decide. Simple.Siddhartha

Reliable and smooth engine means its karizma for me.. If you feel zma looks outdated then try out zmr. But you'll have to add 5-6k extra to your budget of 1K. Comfy seats blah, blah..
P200NS is also good for long rides and the engine too is more refined than the other pulsars.. Rite now, smooth, reliable and a bike for long rides means only these two are coming in mind..ZMR- PGMFI re-defined

Was in your situation recently so I've done my research, and there's no bike that has all the features you want in your budget. Here are your options:
I've been riding Bajaj for over 20 yrs, but I'm not too happy with the Pulsar ergonomics and riding position. (I read in one of the reviews that the NS200 brakes bite...) So Pulsar was out. Hero, also out becos nothing special to offer. FZ and Fazer look good but lack performance; also not economical. So you're left with Apache 180. Best value for money in your budget, in terms of the features you get esp. the ABS. True to the ads it has the 'racing dna' and the vibrations on the hands are a real problem; you won't enjoy long rides.
Yamaha R15 may be just over 1lac but ultimate handling and performance. Looks good too. Great VFM. Again, it's for 'racer' types, so if you can ride with that 'commitment' everyday go for it.
So here's the only and correct answer for you: save some bucks and go for Honda CB Twister. It's the most fun bike under 1 lac. Turns well, easy to ride, excellent mileage. You'll love the handling and the super smooth engine. It will even do wheelies if you want. And of course, Honda reliability is unmatched. And with the money you save gift yourself a fancy gadget.
My budget was also 1 lac. Then I said what the hell, and went for the KTM Duke :-)
As always, read up and do your homework before you decide. Best of luck!

Your advice on the twister is a little... Different. I own a twister and it has an enthusiastic heart. But its for commuters who are looking for a little fun. It will never be a performance bike unless Joel releases a big bore kit for it!!Originally posted by unigen View PostWas in your situation recently so I've done my research, and there's no bike that has all the features you want in your budget. Well. Since you say the rtr's vibes don't go with you, the two bajaj seem to be your best bet. I can't vouch for the engine quality over 6 years though. Never used a bike that long. But, regular service and sensible riding will make any bajaj worthwhile. Especially because the spares come so cheap.
Another option you have, like one of my friends here said is the karizma. It's comfortable, it's got a big engine and it seems to satisfy a lot of people. I'm not one of them but I admit I love the comfort of the zmr. For me, it's not too good performance wise.

Pick the 200 NS. It has a nice and powerful engine which is refined and smooth compared to previous pulsars. Haven't heard of big issues with the bike or vibrations of sorts. Since you say that you will go on long rides, the 200 NS will help you with those as its quite good on the highways too.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300
