  • Pulsar 135LS Recommend to buy ?

First, Im new to this forum. reading some valueble threads since few years. finally I registered. Thanks admins for approved my account.

As topic says, I need to buy new bike. my plan is buy used bike because extreme bike prices in here Sri lanka.

Im interested in Pulsar 135 LS. found few bikes that good condition and mileage between 5000Km ~ 23000Km

here experienced guys and you're the birth place of pulsars please advice me do you recommend to buy Pulsar 135 ?

some people say P135 has some issues...

Im look for following when selecting bike:

    1. Look (I like P135's look specially headlamp design)
    2. Not too big/weight because im small slim guy
    3. Mileage : at least 50KMPL required
    4. Durability

if you not recommend P135, what should be alternative ?

    Thanks

    Pavithra.

Pulsar 135LS will fulfill all 4 of your requirements. There is no problem with the engine that I know of. Buy with confidence.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.

P135 has very good mileaage of 60 kmpl or more. But soon it gets old, so a 2nd hand P135 is not preferable. If you got any bike in almost new condition, only then go for it. But don't use your bike roughly. Take care of it and it will serve you. Else go for hero glamour or yamaha ss/gladiator.

          +1

If it's a Bajaj then it's should be first hand only. Becuase Bajaj still has aging old engines with time. So it's better to be with new.

When you are looking for a second hand then why not a unicorn ?? GS150r ?? these bikes are proven mileage leader in 150cc. so check this too.

11k km and 6.5k km is nothing for a bike. The bike is practically still new. There won't be any major part replacement for another 10-15k km at least. As a rule, go for the least run bike in your budget. Happy shopping .

1 Indian rupee = 2.3665 Sri Lankan rupees.

So the prices of bikes are so high. Ninja will be in 5-6 L.

NEWSFLASH!! India is not the only country which has taxes on imported bikes!! Check prices of bikes in Nepal and Bangladesh for more confirmations. They are priced similar to prices in SL (when converted to INR).

I know. The bike prices in Nepal are even costlier. 1.5lac for a splendor. I was like but any way, the 135ls should not give you a problem. Just don't be rough with it as it wasn't originally yours. Then you'll not have any problems.

There was a 60% import tax for motocycles.

It increased to 100% since march 2012.

many people in Sri lanka expected tax reduction from 2013 budget. specially for bikes and small indian vehicles. but never reduced.

after tax, TATA Nano cost as high as 15 laks LKR
Bajaj 3 wheel cost 5.1 laks.

now importers reduce Nano price to 12.5 laks, 3 wheel price to 4.5 laks because big fall in vehicle market.
we pay 12.5 laks for world's cheapest car. Can't even think for japanese cars.

Actually I remember this one. It made the news in India too. There was a big fall in Bajaj 3-wheeler export no.s due to this. SL is one of the biggest export market for BAL 3-wheelers.

I am saddened by this state of affairs since a top-end Tata Nano costs just about 2.3 lac INR (OR about 5.45lac LKR) to buy in India. Even if there is a 100% import tax, you guys are still being fleeced big-time. But still, could be worse. We ourselves have to pay 116% Import Duty and Double road-tax (thats another 8-10% on the marked up price) on all imported vehicles.

Govt.s usually do this to shield the local manufacturing industry so that it doesn't have to face more advanced foreign competition right from the beginning. But then they should also lead by example themselves, something like what Govt. of India did by starting Maruti Suzuki back in 1981, in effect, kick-starting the Indian Car Industry.

P.S.: Since we are a bike forum, we don't discuss Cars here. So I hope this was the last mention of a 4-wheeler in this thread.
