cbz/extreme- only if u want a better lookin CBZ! nothin more to it.
RTR- performance n.. ok thats what its got... a lil more..
FZ- fresh, amazing looks.. decent city performance.. all in all a good package..
UNICORN- good refined honda engine.. but nothin more exclusive bout it..
GS150- again a good refined engine, suzuki, best option if ure plannin on a pulsar150..

@Saurabh: Looks like you have narrowed down on 2 groups in the 150-160 segment-sporty&commuters.However, going by your requirements, you may not be satisfied by the pillion seats of the Apache&FZ. Commuters like the Unicorn&GS150R will be a better choice, considering you ride with a pillion most of the time.
GS150R is an excellent commuter vehicle according to me&scores over the Unicorn in new age features&who knows maybe maintenance costs too! Check the GS150R thread for more info. I am very impressed by it. I am sure it will be an excellent buy for those who intend to have an ergonomically stress free yet latest bike with good mileage&low maintenance costs. My pick would be the GS150R!

either will do buddy.. they are all good. Go take a test ride on each one of them, do it for second time if u want.. believe me, you will like all four. Just pick the one appealed to you the most.

I have zeroed in to Unicorn/RTR (may be Fi) and waiting for 2009 models. But there are two dealers who are already claiming to have 2009 models while other claim to be getting after 25th Jan. As I want to buy a bike ASAP can you tell me how can I check if the bike being sold to me is, indded, a 2009 make? Please help me on this.

If you know anyone who is claiming to have bought a 2009 manufactured model, check his Registration Certificate. It will clearly state the year under Year Of Manufacture.

RTR/RTR Fi/ Unicorn

Hi guys!!
So it's the time when I am going to book my bike on Tuesday but I am still confused about the final bike name and color ... I am buying this bike for about 2 years before I get a car and a scooter for family chorus.
Now options:

RTR/RTR Fi: is it worth to have RTR FI(OTR 75k) over RTR(67 and 69k for w.o. and with Rear disc)? And any RTR over a Unicorn(I am simply bowled over by it's engine's refinement, gear box and somewhat all black treatment in pearl black model)? If it's to be an RTR color? Yellow/Red/Grey? I would say straight no for Orange or Black.

Unicorn: All black model which is coming with 3d wing logo. And it's OTR <65k. Thank god I don't have many variants and good colors available in Unicorn .

It seems I am getting 2009 models for both of these bikes.
Please please reply before Tuesday with lots of feedback.

i guess you cannot compare rtr fi and unicorn as they address different segment of users/riders as has been said before... If its a confusion between RTR and the Fz, i can understand as they are 'similar' bikes :P .. The bikes you have zeroed in on.. it depends on you what you are buying the bike for..

Rtr : Grin .. Unicorn : Smile .... if i may use that comparison.. hehe

There is lot of difference between rtr carb and rtr fi.. i feel the difference in amount is well worth it... Most enjoyed when you are on the beast alone :P.. the fi feels more 'futuristic' and sounds better.. ive also heard Fi has a lot less vibrations as well.. maybe Efi owners having finished thier run-in can share thier experiences.. will be more valuable

My previous bike was a unicorn and its amazing.... lovely bike especially if you have a pillion all the time.. one of the most comfortable seats...

Color is your personal choice..

Since youre in Blore.. there was another titanium grey Fi in Bharath TVS at 2nd block Jayanagar. So you might get it faster.. dont know if its still there...

I intend to use it mainly for City Commuting but I like few things in RTR which is dragging me to RTR: clip on(I am in love with that handle of RTR ) and flickability.
Otherwise I also believe that Unicorn is the bike made for me .

I will suggest you to go for RTR and that too for the FI model, as unicorn is quite long in tooth now and a replacement might be in pipeline.

As far as the manufacturing year is concerned it can be checked by chassis number, but for layman its not possible as you need to know the coding for the same.

Whatever you decide upon just fill us in here so that we can congrats you .

I have been using my unicorn for about a year now and its done 12K kms. I take my mom as pillion all the time and she finds it very comfortable. Prior to this bike, I had a splendor for 8 years and she finds a huge difference in it.

I am mostly a city commuter but I do go on long rides every now and then. the bike fits the bill perfectly. It gives good mileage, decent power and excellent comfort for long rides, as well as for short city rides too. The monoshock feels like u r sitting on a sofa (compared to my old splendor). its upright position feels perfectly poised for comfortable spine positions, and there is no weight on the wrists at all. Engine refinement is its exclusive trait. Every other bike feels so rough and strained, except perhaps the GS150R ( I have heard good things about it). Although the bike hasnt changed much in terms of looks, when u r riding it, looks matter the least. What matter is how ur ride is.

There are, of course, some disadvantages. No digital console, bad lighting, low decibel horn, low storage space and lack of good tubeless tyres.

Have u considered the CBF Stunner? its got good power and very comfortable seating. Refinement is also its strong character. Take a look at that. i am sure u would be quite impressed at that number. Both the bikes have very good touring capabilities as well.

I prefer the GS over Unicorn ANYday...but in case you do change over to the RTR, yes Fi is worth it&the best color is grey. It is definitely the most unique color available in the 2 wheeler market today. All the best!
